So I was bored with d3. He asked me if I should get a job at McDonalds. I figured I would do the math out to see how much money I would make working at McDonalds for 60 years. I worked a 39 hour shift 50 weeks a year. Every ten years I got promoted. These results are before taxes and are probably a tad low of the actual number.
    So Starting Job:
(10 years) Fast Food Worker: $8.40
(10 years) Fast Food Manager: $11.30
    (10 years) Restaurant Manager: $13.50
(10 years) Assistant Store Manger (does make more): $16.39
(10 years) Human Resources Administrator: $19
(10 years) Customer Service Rep: $21.01
    Total Income: $1,747,200
This does not include taxes. My guess is the government will take about $1,747,199 of your income during your life. Not bad for fast food worker. To compare someone working as a Lawyer would make about 90k a year for a total of $5,400,000.

I know right, I don't know who could live at a fast food restaurant for that long. Probably die of some heart disease.

That's only 29120 per year, only ~6000 above the poverty line.

    That's terrible.

And what kind of lawyer makes 90k on average? The median pay is 114k.

Any job that pays decent money is good if it's a summer job.

I see what you did there

    Fun fact:
If you major in English your income will be a fraction of what McDonalds will pay you.

In some countries, working at a fast food restaurant is a job you can take pride in.

America does not like paying people, it likes taxing them.

Minimum Wage per hour in Canada is 11$ per hour. I sometimes get payed 15$ for 45 minutes. Basically what I'm saying bassmaster, get a job that pays better than McDonalds or just move to Canada where you'll get payed more.

I was in 8th period with my social studies teacher and was wasting our time talking leisurely. She decided to talk about her son's jobs. She said that her son worked at McDonalds. I quote what she said, "A very fine job it is."

Lmao probs cheap happy meals lol

I wasn't planning on working at McDonalds, but some money is definitely better than none. I don't know about Canada though...

My advice, get a degree in mathmatics, computer programming, and certification in lean six sigma as a Black Belt (efficiency expert), and you'll be fine and not have to worry about income right out of college because you can get a job in consulting making 100K a year.

Consultants out of college make great money, travel is extreme but you make a lot of connections and you can then pick where you want to work.

Getting paid a lot to solve problems is the way to go.

That is incredibly stupid seeing as Americans have to pay their hospital bills and such themselves. I mean, over here in Norway, you also pay a significant proportion of your income to the government, but in return, all schools, hospitals, care homes and such are free. However, you don't get that in america since they use all their money on blowing up and killing mostly innocent people in the middle east.

Well the thing is we do spend a lot on the military, but we have to because we employ millions of people to make products for the military. We are stuck in a cycle of military spending and if we try to get out of it millions of people will go unemployed or homeless.

Yeah, but if you gradually decrease the demand for military supplies, like by 0,5% each year, it won't be a big issue 50 years from now.

Where do you put all those workers? You can't just create a new sector with jobs. That's the issue. We have to many people and not enough jobs.
