    MC-War Map Requirements

    Welcome to this guide regarding MC-War map requirements.
    This thread will inform you about what we require in a map for MC-War and suggestions.

    Building
    Must have...
    • Good flow throughout the entire map
    • Detail in all structures and terrain
    • Varied structures
    • 1 spawn each for the red and blue team
    Suggested...
    • All structures having more than 1 entrance and exit. This is to prevent one team or player being trapped or spawn camped in a building. Exceptions can of course be taken for smaller structures or structures which aren't important battle areas for both teams.
    • Clear battle zones. It's not recommended to have a cluster of smaller or larger buildings as it makes it hard for one team to get to the other team and vice versa.
    Notes...
    • If you want your map to be playable for the CTF game mode it's required that your map has 1 flag pole for each team. The flag pole is a wooden fence with stone slab as floor beneath it. Don't place the flag too close to the teams base. This is to make it easier for the other team to grab the flag.
    • Remember to have more than 1 entrance to the flag on both teams! This is to prevent a group of players in one team to camp at their flag.
    • It's not recommended to include item frames in your map as they can be pulled down in MC-War and cause lag.
    • Remember that redstone is turned off on MC-War. Don't include complicated redstone systems which for example opens doors to buildings etc.
    • Always make sure that there are no Out of Map spots (OOM's) in your map. The last thing we want are players leaving the map.
    • Make sure that there are no holes in your map that you can fall into and then can't climb out from. Players shouldn't get stuck in the map.

    Map Style
    The map doesn't need to look similar to CoD maps. Just be aware of that often maps that looks similar to CoD maps have a higher chance of getting accepted.

    Size of the map
    Recommended size is 150-300 blocks wide and 150-300 blocks long. Exceptions can of course be taken. Larger maps can though cause lag. Remember that small maps will not be played when the server has around 50+ players online.
    Player Spawns
    Your map must include two good located spawn positions for two teams. 1 for the red team. 1 for the blue team.
    Always have more than 1 way out of the spawn building. Suggested number of entrances/exits are 3. This is to prevent spawn camping from occur.​

    Is making it similar to CoD maps required?

    I'd strongly suggest that you have most of the old maps redone. They lack detail, are easily spawntrappable, etc.

    For example, Ambush looks like it's made from 5 different blocks.

    I mean the maps that we submit for COD map, can we use that same map for our creative rank app?

    You got to realize that making a desert war based map is difficult as minecraft does not have sandstone bricks or what not yet. Also, the middle eastern maps have the same generic material. When you think about most CoD map, especially the CoD 4 maps that take place in the desert, they all use the same materials most of the time so its difficult to really get the exact quality.

    Also @MrDasky do CoD 2 maps have a lesser chance of being accepted than say a CoD 4 or MW3 map because of the time period difference. Also Dasky, as you said about building detail and such, Some CoD maps, especially from CoD 1, 2 did not have the greatest texturing due to the graphics limitations so do these maps have some exceptions? For example, the CoD 2 map El Alemein is really just a desert with some trenches. And given the scenery location like the desert, its really the generic sand stone type material and there are limitations with the sandstone blocks so what about that?

    You can always come up with details that aren't visible in the CoD game but that would suit the map.
