Brawl should move their server location

to be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if this has affected the numbers of EU players. I'm from a similar area to you and I get that kind of ping lag too. It wouldn't be surprising at all to see people closer to central europe getting a lot more lag than we do

@DerekG At this poit, I would like to admire the informativeness of your post, packed in only 3 different letters but still completely conveying the point! i'd never have thought about all the things you mentioned! ... Ok sorry.

I personally would consider myself pingking when it's about EU servers. 7ms max to Frankfurt (largest hosting center I believe) and no more than 15 to the old CTF. After the merge, I got about 60 - playable, but a noticeable quality loss.

Now I lag out, get killed without the animation being shown at all (someone blocks, I die), and the game became a lot less fun. I still play mainly because of the community (and not the wonderful aesthetically displeasing banners) and the game itself. Other EU players, especially newcers or not so attached players, probably see that as a reason large enough to not come back (letting alone the whole migration issues).

I'd propose to either change the location like MCPVP did, or, if affordable, invest into a (smaller) EU location. At the moment it might not seem like a good idea (low EU player count), but I think somewould definetely be more likely to stay or to come back.

 

...I'm in Spain and I never get lag. Lucky me.

 

The least ping I get is 276 so I understand

 

I only get a minimum of 50 ms and it runs smooth.
If they changed hosts my least ping would be 500,000,000

 

This happens every few sessions, but it seems to happen exclusively to me.

This makes a lot of sense, but I would equally like to know why you'd host it in Canada over the US for the US players. I mean if it were closer to EU players then it would make sense, but Canada if anything is further away for both EU and US players, so it wouldn't benefit anyone. Money might be the reason but I would have thought you could still get some cheap US deals. I'm sure there is a good reason for it, but I do wonder what it is

 

Yeah, that's probably on your end, I haven't gotten that bad a connection in a long time.

 

Timezones must effect you. I'm EU and online everyday + i was a old mcpvp'er.

How about you try it sometime? You may do it constantly but thats CTF or anything. Help the community out by doing so.
