Hey some dope is gonna eventually get an Ender Dragon spawn egg (or craptons of Wither spawn eggs) and screw up the overworld.

@bassmaster6 @chickenputty @NomNuggetNom this needs to be fixed. I say find a way to disable the redstone mechanics of hoppers (overwrite the class/methods for Hoppers). I know this is a pain but it needs to be done.

Thanks for the report @Colonel_Graff. I have banned everybody who has ever had redstone on all servers. Anyone who picks up redstone, looks at redstone, mines redstone ore, etc will be perma banned automatically now.

 

@LegalSkateboards remember when the server was down for over a month? I recently found out why it was down and how spawn got wrecked. (Hint: there are certain things you can no longer create near spawn.)

This bug above reintroduces the problem but makes it 1,000 times worse. Some kid is going to use this glitch and, through it, gain the ability to bust spawn. You pretty much broke the game and someone's going to need to rush a patch in or shut down the server for a while. Either way, sharing this video publicly was irresponsible.


(I've done my fair share of glitches but have never done one that can break the server like this.)

Having access to creative level items on a survival server is an incredibly bad idea...

No the hopper class needs to be overwritten in Survival so it can't be activated or deactivated by a redstone current. The root cause is using a redstone current to mess with the timer in the hopper, generating random junk that is from memory. (This is Minecrafts version of the Heartbleed bug). I'm pretty sure that this can be done by a single person with the right redstone setup too, so expect much abuse.
