Is it possible to see if you're getting DDoSed?

    The title says it all. (I'm not a smart man... Which is probably why I'm asking this)

    And for all the moderators and admins wondering: I'm asking this because i think I'm getting hit off

    If your ping shoots up to the 1000+ms then you're most probably being DOS'ed.

    You're not getting DDoSed. if you are getting hit off in any way,it's DoS.
    DDoS: ayh gais lets hit psn off cuz were pros ay
    DoS: this ****ing kid killed me in 3/4 d ima hit that ****er off cuz i lost my pixels

    Click windows+r>type in cmd>type 'ping google.com' in the command prompt>read

    DoS (Denial of Service) - This is where a bunch of packets (from one or two sources) flood your IP and consume bandwidth.
    DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) - This would be DoS on a much larger scale, where the packets would come from several tens, hundreds, or even thousands of servers. This would require massive resources to pull off and on Brawl I doubt someone would try to do this.

    If either of these were happening, your whole internet connection would slow - not just Minecraft. Also, ping can skyrocket even if a DoS is not occurring. For instance, if you have people streaming media in your house (Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, etc), videos consume a LOT of bandwidth. There are also other reasons.

    If you wanted to see if a DoS was occurring, you could get Wireshark and look for a ton of packets from one IP address (likely the ICMP protocol - aka ping). If there are a lot of packets, there could be a DoS attack. Google this topic for more information.

    In short, it's highly unlikely that you are experiencing this type of attack.
