A general rant about the policing of this forum, and why are threads beeing locked 24/7?

Brawl is a hugbox. You'll get used to it.

 

We are clearly not just locking all threads. The thread you posted was discussing autobans, a topic dozens of threads have been posted about. Having multiple threads discussing the same topic only leads to double posts and confusion, it is was easier to put all comments about a topic on one thread.
Questions threads are locked once they are answered and other threads are locked if they violate the rules, not because staff members do not like them.

By average there are 774 new messages posted on the forums every day, so there is clearly enough to do. Calling someone an "idiot" or swearing often leads to flame wars which is the exact opposite of a reasonable discussion. It is easily possible to discuss topics without swearing or insulting others.

Just make sure your thread doesn't violate any forums rules and it will not be locked.

 

Thats why duplicate threads shouldn't be posted in the first place. If you really want to reply to him, send him a PM.

Insults clearly violate the forums rules; once more, you can discuss topics without insulting eachother. We will not tolerate flame, excessive swearing and insults.

Thats why we usually post "Feel free to PM me if you have any further questions" when locking the thread.

Those other forums are moderated similarly, so the moderation can't be the reason for the lack of posts in the HG section.

 

Sounds like the mods are trying to reasion with the masses why they are doing what they are doing with the standard 'enforcing rules' ****. The MCPVP forums where a great place for people to vent anger, discuss topics and have a laugh. Threads where only locked if they were a severe violation of forum rules. That is: rasisim, excessive OTT swearing, or the USERS themselvs asked for the thread to be locked.
These mods seem to be to trigger happy...

 

Hey guys, the Mods like @Lord_Roke are just doing their job. They are looking out for the community at large.

Some threads are locked because the question was answered or the message was more appropriate in a private message.

Take a deep breath, the Mods have a difficult task and are looking out for the community as a whole.

If I'm going to argue with a Mod I'm going to do it to their face.....and not in some rambling incoherent rant that doesn't make any sense.

 

I think you need to talk to a mod if you have an issue with them and not post about it. Just have a normal conversation and it's done.

This doesn't solve anything.

PS - @Lord_Roke and I have had our disagreements but you wouldn't know because I go straight to him......and I do it in a private message not on some silly rant.

As soon as auto bans were introduced, dozens of auto ban threads were introduced. People were getting mad and, without looking, started posting their threads. Please look to see if there are multiple threads about what you are talking about. Even typing in your thread name should bring up to see if there are any other threads having the same information as yours. I know you may be mad about brawl being more serious about their forums, but mcpvp was starting to be corrupt with the power used to moderate, they started giving mod to people they could 'trust'

The player only had to have skype and be known in the game, nonetheless any forum activity. In brawl, you actually have to have forum knowledge because it's required for the mods to have.

 

Ok, but I think of it as feedback as to how terribly auto bans were implemented. If multiple people were mad about auto bans, the fact that this many threads were being made both A) highlights the problem immensely and B) better displays the community's reactions instead of one or two threads that could easily die out even if there was interest.

While I can get wanting to reduce spam on the forum, locking threads doesn't get rid of them, it just seems like it's a topic that's being ignored to the eyes of other people who might have otherwise missed it.

You know, as much as I hated mcpvp, their forums were the bomb. They were just so perfect in the way they were handled, because they didn't micromanage, but rather understood what kind of audience they had and allowed it to do its' thing with minimal interference.
Granted nothing ever got done but hey, what else is new.

 

I still don't see how the ability to swear contributes to having reasonable and serious discussions.

Thats why the threads are locked and not deleted. You can still see them, but to discuss the topic you need to go to a different thread thats linked in the lock messages.
It is clear that multiple threads will be posted about important topics, but we still try to bundle all the discussion on the first thread about the topic.
