    -4 : (x^4)/(x+2) = (x+2)(x-2)/(x+2) = x-2 : now replace x with -2 since x -> -2 and you get -4

    (x^2-4)/(x-2) can be rewritten as [(x-2)(x+2)]/(x+2)

    (x+2) can be cancelled out on the top and bottom, so you are left with (x-2)/1 , which is just x-2

    Plug in -2 for x , and you get -2-2 = -4

    Answer is -4

    Edit: **** I got ninja'd so hard. I give up, not doing anymore homework. Screw you guys.

    You never explained how you arrived at that answer. Also, how could Yuchang tell if you were kidding or not - other replies were pi, and eleven. Since mine has a proof that the answer is -4, he can trust my answer (although im sure by now yuchang has probably already figured it out, its been 2 hours)

    Probably Precalc or calc. My guess is calc, since its august

    This seems closer to precalc to me, since I'm just starting calc this year and (I think) I learned this last year.
