    I fixed it by inserting mc.brawl.com instead.

    try typing in a specific server number, that can also help you direct connect.

    If you ever have problems joining the IP of a specific server, enter Brawl.com
    as it will take you to the lobby, where you may do /play PVP and play McPVP.
