So, this will prevent people from spamming the forums with: "Welcome!" "Hello!"

How does this work? Have a minimum amount of posts needed to be a mod, but look more at the helpful post ratio (eg 1000 posts and 100 agrees will not get mod but 200 posts and 50 agrees will get mod). Now people won't spam the forums!

    Hello.

I want to disagree with what you said here. Requiring a certain amount of ratings would do the opposite- you would have boosting, alting and so more.
The way I'd take it would be by requiring 300 messages and quality content. Also, people with negative amount of votes on their app shouldn't even be considered, and honestly, I do not intend to offend anyone, but the old staff system was slightly more effective than the current one.

    What @MessageForHelp said.

If people wouldn't cheat the system, then the ratings thing would be good. But usefulness is most important. There are also those who make popularity posts that are joking or making fun of the game or people that rack up a lot of ratings... but these are not necessarily helpful or productive to the community.

Our current anti-tryhard mechanism is the Postings tab on profile pages.

Also, aiming for a good rating-to-post ratio is still a good thing. Seeing someone with 300 posts and only 30 ratings is an obvious sign of crap posting.

    Quality > Quantity.

The "300 posts" requirement was abolished a few months ago already. The current requirement is being active and helpful on the forums, there is no specific amount of posts required to get accepted. If you post every few days and get a sufficient amount of posts every month which contribute to the discussion you will not have to worry about the forums aspect.

But I've seen people (not going to name names until I'm forced to) who have ABSOLUTELY no idea what they are talking about (eg a WarZ player who never played HG saying HG is fixed), or post Welcome every intro. Obviously they'll have a high post count, but it's useless. And some of these people try to get mod

I constantly skim over the "New posts" lists and the different forums and I do notice the users who reply to threads to post-farm. If they really spam posts, they will get warned and if they apply for staff we will definitely take into consideration if they were post-farming.

As long as someone is writing quality, and helpful or relevant posts, I don't think their ratings should matter all that much. If someone is making a good effort to contribute to a discussion (know what the discussion is about and adding to it) or are actually being helpful to someone, sometimes that isn't reflected in their ratings. Overall, it should be quality not quantity.

I formally disagree to this and ONLY agree with the moderators.

But welcome to the forums, thanks for making this thread and enjoy your stay.

Please, read ruleZ, stay away from WarZ and that's about it.

Now that I think about it, tryhards can be annoying XD but I can't think of one right now

Yup there recently was a War player posting unnecessary posts in the HG section. He didn't know what he was talking about and it was clear he was doing it for his post count. What's sad is he recently applied and got lots of support so I really would like moderators to really check what the applicants are posting.

EDIT: Some did notice but I feel a good chuck of staff gave the +1 without much thought

What I look at is that they have gotten a 1/3 positive ratings to their posts.

You can also test for alts by checking quality of posts and seeing if there is one person who spams another with likes, agrees, etc.
