    Brawl Junior Moderator Application:

Before any criticism, or instant denies saying something along the lines of “Sorry, you can’t apply for KitPvP mod!”, I would like you to consider this thread that I posted a while ago. After reading… I would ask for a chance to become a KitPvP mod, if it doesn’t work I can always moderator another section, I would even go as far back as getting demoted if this plan doesn’t work. So I say again, please let me have a chance to prove KitPvP is in need of moderation, and that I, and much more other people are capable for getting JMod on KitPvP. Which a whole lot of consideration and thinking, I have finally brought myself to apply for JMod. And as I said in my reasons, I feel like with this position, I could make finer judgement and improve myself and try to improve the community with the knowledge I learn if I become a JMod.

Have you read over this thread? - Yes I have, and I understand what it takes to be a moderator. I believe that I’m Mature enough to apply for this position, I’m mostly calm and can sometimes goof around with friends. In my view and in others, I’m pretty mature for my age

I can call myself very Active, before all the server resets I had stats of over 23,000 kills. And now I still have many kills and come on the server a lot, and I come on the forums almost everyday and have a post count of over 2,000. I also stay on Teamspeak for a few hours if something is happening or if anyone needs my help.

I can consider myself very helpful, I don’t really try to be helpful but whenever someone is in need of help I am mostly there to help them. I also try to answer as many questions as I can on the forums, I believe that if you have the right intention of helping someone, you will get rewarded (not always a prize, it could even be that good feeling that you helped someone  ), even before I had my sights on applying for moderator, I was helpful to everyone around me. I have reported lots of rule-breakers. And even won multiple rule-breaker reports contests, I have submitted a total of 180 reports, but that’s only in the new report form.

I can call this Application very lengthy and detailed, I have took my time to fill all of this out to the best of my abilities, and I can understand my mistakes, and try to improve if my application gets denied.

What is your in-game name? - MrWaffleman

Have you changed your name in the past? If you have, please list them. - Only once: Veriwaffle. But I changed my name back to MrWaffleman a month after.

Does anyone else have access to your Minecraft account? - My brother, but he hasn’t been on it for years. So for now I’m the sole user of this account.

How old are you? - 13 years of age (Birthdate: October 13, 2002).

What time zone are you in? - Central Time US & Canada (Missouri).

Are you multilingual? Can you speak multiple languages? - Yes, I can, but not very fluently. I know a little from each language but I can’t consider myself to be experienced in these languages enough to type it or to fully understand other people.

What is your experience and knowledge of Minecraft? - I can state that I have lots of knowledge of Minecraft. I started playing Minecraft either 2009 or 2010, and have known it since Classic mode. I skipped around some Multiplayer servers, there are a few servers that I have been in for a very long time and have experienced their communities. I can tell you that I’ve been in Minecraft communities since 2011 and have a great understanding with talking with people and helping them. I joined MCPvP in 2011, and Brawl in either 2012 or 2013. I’ve built many maps, and played lots of servers and I’m very experienced in Minecraft overall.

What is your experience with moderating servers, if any? - I’ve moderated tons of tiny servers, but they were extremely small. Some servers shut-down and I have no proof of me moderating on them. However, there are few other servers that I have moderated on.

The first one is a rather small community of 10-20 players called DKMC, it was basically like a DayZ server. You went around the map looting chests and earning money, smuggle drugs, raid banks, buy houses, and more. I served as Developer for this server and developed most of their plugins. Even though I was just a Coder and I was behind the scenes, I did come on and moderate and check for any hackers or rule-breakers. Proof of my rank is here.

The second one was a pretty cool and small server called BaconWorldPvP, this server contained many things, such as a MobArena, Paintball, Survival, and Parkour. In this server I was an Admin as well as the Head-Coder, for this I was behind the scenes as well, and again I did moderate sometimes as well, the proof is here.

What will you provide to the community if you are provided moderator status? - There are many things I can provide to the community, first is hackers. I have been reporting lots of hackers lately, most of the time, they get banned very late. I feel that having the rank of a moderator will make it easier for hackers to get banned and it will make the community more clean and happy.

Second is over-all moderation, many people spam and advertise, and it takes a while for them to ‘be quiet’ considering it takes me a while to report them, or contact a staff member on Slack or in-game. With me being extremely active in KitPvP I can always be there to make sure there are no spammers or advertisers, if I’m not in-game I will stay in Teamspeak, Slack, and on forums so that players can tell me if something is happening in the server.

Third is making the environment more comfortable and friendlier, I can straight up tell everyone that I’m not going to be that perfect moderator, I am quite the jokester… but with this I can control it and know when it’s time to work.

Another reason is a pretty small reason, and may seem silly. But I want to experience the community in all angles, as a normal member, as a staff member, and so on. I feel like if I were able to get mod, I would have stronger judgement in matters and my knowledge would increase of Brawl and how to deal with people who oppose Brawl and basically make it a worse place.

Then, something that I don’t wish to offend other staff members, but I’ll have the ability to mingle with the community more, I’m not blaming all the staff for staying in the same Teamspeak channel, but I believe if I were to be given this rank, I would barely ever, or probably never stay in the moderator channels. I don’t feel comfortable having a rank and using it for my own pleasure, I’d rather stick out with the community. I have quite a lot of friends in the staff team but I feel that I can still manage to stay with the community. The thing is, sure, I have a lot of friends, but I don’t tend to stick around like an all-nighter, rather just to be with the rest of the community and have fun with all. I feel like I’m noob-friendly (this is the only case where I use that word…), and I can stick around with the lower and have a great time. Many people usually toss them aside, but I feel like I can be more friendly towards them.

Last, is a purpose I will keep for months to come, and will never tell anyone until the time comes. Some may find this mysterious, but I promise, it is not something that has a bad outcome, but it has an outcome that could potentially help Brawl and its community as a whole .

Have you ever used a hacked client before? - No, I’ve never touched any. I only use the client-side mod Optifine to boost my FPS and use it to zoom. I find no use in installing any hacks, it’s just a waste of time and there is no point of fun in it.

Have you ever been banned on a Minecraft server? If so, why? - I have been banned on Brawl only once, but that was on accident, it was the Ban Hammer’s mistake. I tried my best to maintain a clean history but that darn Ban Hammer ruined it :stuck_out_tongue:.

The only ban that was actually real was something I could call ‘staff disrespect’, I didn’t really view it as staff disrespect but I guess the Owner thought of it as disrespect. When the Server Owner was in Skype (I was in the call as well), he was constantly yelling and was really frustrated, I got really tired of it and told him to calm down. I understood this wasn’t really the best thing to do, but in my point of view he handled it immaturely, I got permanently banned from the server, but since I was an old community member the admins convinced him to unban me. This event took place a few years ago in a community consisting of around 20-40 members on the server at once. Now this server has been shut down.

What do you consider your greatest strength? - I consider my greatest strength my will, I see many other staff members (don’t take this as offense) taking gameplay first then moderation. If someone needs help they finish fights and what they are doing first then helping the player. I understand that these fights may be crucial to staff members, but I can put moderation before gameplay, after all it’s only a game. I have done this many times before, in the middle of fights such as in WarZ there are players in the chat that need help, I try to go to cover quickly and answer their question. I feel like if I was provided with the moderator rank I would have a strong intention and be able to help lots of people. But with this I also understand that you don’t have to be a moderator to help. Many retired staff members have stated this before, I have even helped a lot without the rank of moderator. But with moderator I think I could get things done more faster and help even more if I were promoted or any of the sort.

What do you consider your greatest weakness? - This may seem very absurd… but my greatness weakness is not being professional. I always joke around and I’m never very serious, sure I do help lots of people and act a bit profesional when doing that. But around people I joke around lots, but at the same time I could view this as being good, I could tie in more with the community and make moderating more easier. But in my opinion I guess I could tune it down.

How active do you consider yourself on Brawl? - I have already stated about my activity on Brawl, but I will build upon it

In-game I’m very active, like I said I had many kills (I was most probably the person with the most kills), showing that I was on the server a lot. Nowadays I don’t have that much time to spend, but I still consider myself to be very active. I can spend plenty of time in KitPvP and can always toss away my play-time to moderate the servers.

Forums I’m very active in as well, I have a post count of over 2,000. I could say that around 500 of these posts could be something along the lines of “Welcome to Brawl!” or “Good luck with your team”, but the rest I have done constructed criticism and spent time to make sure I was saying something ethical and useful. I’m browsing the forums at least once everyday.

Teamspeak I’m a bit iffy about, sure I can spend lots of time and I am on it lots of hours. But I will admit that I don’t really do anything on it, this is mostly because of the fact that there are so many locked channel and my friends don’t really do on Teamspeak often, even if they are, they will be in other channels that are locked and I can’t join. I mostly spend my time in the ‘Room’ channel. But I can take this into to consideration as a good thing, I can spend lots of time in Public Channels, and I really doubt I will be in the JMod+ channel very often anyways.

Which Brawl servers are you most active on? - I would honestly say Build, as of right now. I frequently switch server a lot, sometimes I feel like getting in a team in WarZ, so I play that for a month, then I have an interest of getting to level 50 in War, so then I try that. My interest always lingers to different servers, but I feel like KitPvP will always be there, it’s a very simple game and I can always play it and not have to gather resources and have a proper team to play it just like the other game modes. I feel like KitPvP is the type of server that’s always there and is home to me. I spend time on other servers as well, so if I were given the moderator rank, I feel like I could go to all servers and moderator, considering I take time to play all of them and enjoy them all equally.

EDIT: Now I mostly play KitPvP and Survival PvP.

How many hours can you provide a day and during what time frame? - On school days I can most probably spare around 1 hour. On weekends I can spare around 3-4, and on summer vacation I can spare around 6 hours. I have time reserved from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Mondays - Thursdays as well as Saturdays - Sundays. On the Mondays - Thursday I could browse forums and moderate on the website but I can’t play, go on Teamspeak, or any of the sort. I’m not always on the computer in all of these free-time hours. If needed I can spend this time to moderate on Brawl, I mainly use this time to do some other things for fun, but I can always spare some time.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule in-game? - Depending on the severity of the broken rule:

If they were spamming or offending a minor rule, I would warn them. If they ignore the warning I would take care of it by either muting them for spam, excessive swearing, or profanity. I would then monitor them to see if they continue, then I would lengthen the mute and kick them up to an hour if necessary.

If they were breaking a not-so-major rule, such as glitching, I would kick them. If they were advertising I would mute them and monitor them, if they continue glitching I would make the mute longer or ban them if necessary. If the Glitch was intentional and the player keeps repeating I would ban them. If they advertised, I would try to calm them down or tell them it’s not allowed on this server, some of them might stop, but given the fact that they don’t care, I would mute them if they continued. If they left, I would keep a close monitor on which servers they go to, because they could always switch servers and advertise there.

If the rule broken was major such as hacking I would ban them and contact a staff senior to me. Macros would apply as a major rule broken as well.

Something I think and am sure of is important is to check if the player has done this by accident or it is intentional. Such as spamming and glitching, sometimes even I get warned for spamming when I didn’t mean to. I would first try to understand if the person is typing fast or is trying to spam, if they didn’t mean to spam I would give them a friendly reminder. Also if a person does not mean to glitch I would teleport them to the spawn or to their last location.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule on the forums? - I would send them a message of what their offense was (and warn them), and lock the thread if necessary. I would send a player who replied to a thread a PM if they if they replied to thread that hasn’t been replied to for over 30 days (and lock the thread), or if the reply to the thread was completely useless. I would lock a thread if the thread was completely useless, if the thread turned into a flame-war, the author wanted the thread to be locked, or if the thread has already been resolved (if the thread was a bug-report or question). I would delete the thread if it was about a glitch that affects the server/gameplay majorly, I would then send that player a message of why it was deleted and make sure that he would tell no one else, I would then contact a Senior Staff Member to make sure they are aware of this issue. I would also move a thread to a different section if necessary of course.

What would you do if someone breaks a rule on TS3? - If they were spamming, advertising, or any of the sort I would warn them to stop, if they ignore the warning I would move them to a different channel and talk to him/her to make sure he/she stops. After that I will keep a watch on them, if they continue then I will mute them. If they are yelling in their mics or any of the sort I would first warn them, if they ignore the warning I would talk to them, and again if they ignore it I would mute their mic. If the person is threatening other players, or Staff Disrespect, I would ban them for a certain amount of time (whatever time is needed), for this offense, I would not talk to them in a different channel (only if it were staff disrespect).

Situation (as a staff member): You log on Brawl, and you’re told that there is a huge, game-breaking economy glitch. No Admins are online to solve the situation. What steps would you take to handle the issue? - I would first test this out to make sure it isn’t a prank or a rumor, then if it is true… since I have no permission to shutdown the server or turn off the economy, I would make sure no players glitch, and warn all players. If any players glitch I would warn them at first and make them stay away, if they still don’t listen I would kick them. Then after, if they still abuse it I would temporarily ban them until a senior staff member comes online. I would try to contact any staff member even if Coder or SMod to see how to solve the problem.

If this were happening in War, I could simply send all the players back to spawn, or change the gamemode/map to a different one, but before this I would try to identify what is the problem and report it to a senior as soon as possible. I would then stay on the server to make sure no one else abuses this glitch, and then would leave if a senior staff member gets a hold of the glitch or says they got it from there.

How many Brawl staff applications have you made in the past? - I’ve never submitted a Staff Application, this is my first one.

What is the date of the last application you submitted? - This is the first App I’ve submitted.

Do you have a working microphone? - Yes, I do, but it may be a little staticky. I’m currently working on trying to get a better mic for better communication. If my mic becomes extremely staticky I could just listen to the players and type out anything if I needed to moderate. My Microphone is Wireless as well if that’s useful in any way.

Are you able to record and upload videos? - Yes, I can. I switch between Bandicam and Fraps and I have a channel to upload all of my hacker reports and such. I make sure to keep them unlisted as well. I record in bad quality to make sure the videos get uploaded fast, the video is still viewable though. I can record in better quality if necessary.

Do you generally know how all the staff member commands work? - Yes, I do. Including the Staff Chat, to track which server a player is, check the server lag, who is a person, going into spectate mode, teleporting to players, checking IPs, banning IPs, and many more. I’ve moderated some servers so I can understand the baseline of plugins that moderate the server. I’ve also read over this thread so I know what kind of permissions each staff member has.

In specific, I can explain what permissions I will have as a Junior Mod when starting out:

/kick: It can issue a ‘short ban’ up to an hour, this can be useful in the situations I have already stated, such as glitching, excessively flaming/spamming, and so on.

/mute: Prevents a player from talking for up to an hour, again this can be useful in the situations I have already stated, such as flaming, spamming, advertising, and so on.

/unmute: Pretty self-exclamatory, un-mutes a player and allows them to speak. I would use this if someone or a staff member points out that a mute was unnecessary and I shouldn’t have done it, I would immediately unmute them if the reason was correct. Or if I, myself realized it.

/fp [map]_gamemode: This changes the map and gamemode, this can only be utilized in War and only for bug testing. It could also be useful if something were happening and a bug/glitch is being abused as stated.

/prune: Clears the chat, I can use this when lots of people are simultaneously spamming/flaming/advertising. If they were spamming, I would tell everyone to calm down, depending on the reasons, I would try to handle the situation effectively, if they were flaming, I would try to point out the individuals and talk them out (which is my hobby  ) and try to get a compromise, if not, and they don’t want to listen, I would then give them a cooldown with a 1 hour mute, as well as give the server a cooldown with them being quiet. Close to the same thing would apply to advertising, I would point out the individuals and try to get a compromise, if not I would mute them for an hour.

Anything else we should know about you? - I don’t really think there’s anything else you should know about me in general, I have stated the things you should know about me in the application. But I will state a few things.

One thing important that you should know about me is that I really have strong opinions. If I see something wrong I cringe and try to fix it, I don’t express my feelings toward it in the game but I always try to fix it or try to talk to a person who is doing something wrong. Likewise if I see something wrong in the Staff System I would probably point it out to the Seniors.

Another thing is that if some staff members see me in chat, they usually see me talkative and helping others, also saying the most randomest things. I also have a tendency to fix what is wrong like stated before, this can be good or bad. I usually respond to the chat for the most randomest reasons, such as someone I met a while ago said something along the lines of “I wish I could travel, but I don’t really have a car and I’m a kid, so I’m going to play Minecraft” I blabbered on saying that you have a full imagination that you can soar with, and if you have enough determination and skill you can go out into the world and explore. I also stated that you can go with your parents in a car into places. Although some people might find this as a troll and extremely silly, I take it seriously, I have enough experience both on the internet and more experience in life to say these things. There has also been a situation of many ‘idiots’ saying “I hate Brawl you can suck my” and I’m guessing most people know what follows. I usually talk back to them in a calm manner, usually resulting in them being dumbfounded and going back to square 1 and cursing at me. I’ve grown enough maturity for these words not to hurt me, so you may find that I don’t really care if anyone curses at me or says hurtful things, although Staff Disrespect may stop me from continuing this act. The only thing I care about is if someone says hurtful things to other people, then it’s really my business. I have a tendency to utterly roast these kind of people and it provides entertainment for the people on the server I guess. But I try not to get too off of hand considering they should have been muted, and argueing may not always be the best solution, but a belief I’ve had for a while and again experienced, is that punishment only leads to more misbehavior, and muting isn’t always the best solution at times.

thx for da inspiration Jayden

Like I said, I'm pretty active on Teamspeak, I just judge my ability to talk. I DO talk sometimes, it's not like I'm silent and don't talk. But not at all that much, I usually go in room and talk to people via chat, so I believe that is an aspect I can improve on slightly.

All I can think of that would hurt your chances is your roast shop, and I know that was a good natured funny thing.
I believe you would make a great candidate, and I need another staff member my age

Yeaaaa, I was thinking of closing that sometime soon, considering I only like to roast people who have done something bad, and I don't want to make it personal, and I also try to make it sound intelligent. I'll try to end it sometime soon.

    Now on topic, thanks :stuck_out_tongue:.

I think you'd do great as the first KitPvP mod! I believe KitPvP needs a full time mod. The auto-ban plugin takes care of the hackers, but what about arguments? I know you well enough to know you'd be able to solve those problems! +1

Active, mature, kind, fantastic application. I couldn't have done it any better!

    +1

However, I think it would be best to choose another section your active on, pass trial on that server, and then become a KitPvP mod.

Thanks for the feedback, I would like to be a KitPvP mod Jayden. But as I stated, if it doesn't work out I can always go for another server.

You are very active and helpful in-game. You are often on survival helping players, so if you can't get kitpvp mod first, I believe you are a qualified candidate for pvp survival.
    Good luck.

+1 for Survival PvP. In my opinion you should get mod on Survival then ask Cuddled for KitPvP as your secondary. Therefore you can moderate both while still in trial.

    Good Luck!

You're helpful on the forums with a large amount of posts so you're clearly active in this section +1. In-game, I see you on occasionally however I don't really play much apart from Skywars so I can't really judge +0. As for teamspeak, I haven't actually spoken to you let alone seen you on however this could be due to timezone or just because I don't look hard enough +0.

Overall you're mature, respectful and a part of the wiki team which also helps.
    Good luck!

The thing is that you can't apply for KitPvP right now. Nonetheless, you're worthy for this rank...

According to your current rank, you're mature, helpful and active around Brawl.
Therefore, I give to you my +1, good luck m8!

I think you deserve a +1 in everything.
You are a dedicated person and I can't imagine many people who deserve to moderate more than you.

I know we don't need kitpvp jmods too much, but having at least one sounds good IMO.

Thanks ^.^, I plan on doing KitPvP like I said, if it doesn't go well I will go to Survival PvP.

Thanks, I hope my KitPvP stats showed something :v, I'm trying to boost up my helpfulness and activity on Teamspeak tho.

    Danks Algelier :grinning:.

    Aw, thanks Stake, I won't let spooky people down ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
