The Spas-24 aka Boom Stick!

Evil here with another Evil-licious gun review on "Spas-24" tactical shotgun. Also known by myself (maybe this name will catch on) as the Boom Stick! (in the texture pack it is a stick)

@JuliuzzW asked me to do a gun review and feature one of his favorite weapons.

A brief overview from Wiki:

The Franchi (Spas-24/Spas-12) is a combat shotgun manufactured by Italian firearms company Franchi 1979 to 2000 (Spas-12 actually). The SPAS-12 was sold to military and police users worldwide on the civilian market, and has been featured in many movies, tv shows, and video games and the Spas-24 is based on that model.

The appearance and intended purpose of the SPAS-12 initially led to its "Military" designation as a Combat Shotgun. The SPAS-12 was designed from the ground up as a rugged military shotgun and it was named the Special Purpose Automatic Shotgun.


This shotgun aka “Boom Stick” can be used in a variety of situations. I find that I can use this weapon in infect and other game modes. The fast firing, reload, lethal rounds, and range of shot (21m) and number of shots allows you to reload and fire quickly. Just be careful sneaking up on people because the range is not that far.

In my opinion, the Spas-24 gives you a weapon system ideal for close quarter combat.

· It has a decent magazine and round capacity (8+ 24) and is a great support weapon or it can be used to go on the offensive. This weapon is best used in flanking, head to head (short and medium distances) and you'll want to use this and your pistol when clearing rooms.

· Pair this up with Scavenger and Super Armor and you a dangerous threat!

· When using the Spas24 you will want to put yourself in the role as that of a SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) Officer. Shotguns are great for clearing rooms and close range at the point of attack.

· Your weakness is being out in the open, faster shooting opponents and short range of shot.

· Your keys to success include: stealth, working like a SWAT team officer through buildings, hallways, and clearing rooms.

Ideally, you'll want to be surrounded by your team at the point of attack. You can hold off enemies if you are able to bottleneck them. Bottleneck spots allow you to keep them dense where your shotgun can do the most damage.

· However, you will still be deadly to single attackers, which you will just shred. Great for close areas or confined spaces or close encounters with aliens.

In my universe, I see the Spas-24 as a tactical shotgun similar to what the LAPD SWAT teams use.

Here are some important aspects to watch for when watching the video:
1) Close proximity shots
2) Flanking maneuvering (coming up quickly to ones side)
3) Stealth
4) Using the building as cover
5) He's not in the open rather working room to room in close proximity which plays to the shotguns strength
6) When he engages multiple targets he switches between shotgun and pistol

The table above shows that the firing rate is third highest for all shotguns at 67 Rounds Per Minute (28X8(224)) and that it is Pump Action. It has a relatively slow reload time and provides significant damage to an enemy in close range.

When playing Infect with this weapon, you will want to be in in the air shooting down in defensible area where you have a clear line of sight. This also helps as your bullets will spray. This will help you hold off multiple zombies during the next zombie apocalypse.

The bullets will shred zombies & people if you are shooting down at an angle toward them.

Constantly looking to improve, I thought it would help to show a "How to Nuke like a Boss" from the many of videos of different players I have studied and analyzed.

I thought new and old players would benefit from showing them how to nuke using some of these more less mainstream guns. They require real skill not just jumping back and forth spamming Skully like a chicken with it's head cut off.

In 1990 Franchi renamed the shotgun to the Sporting Purpose Automatic Shotgun, this allowed continued sales to the United States as a limited-magazine-capacity, fixed-stock model until 1994.
