One week for the MVP as the anomalous deny,
Twice seven days for the thread hastily thrown,

Half a year for the waiting, to yet return home,

Our story begins on the twenty-fourth of May, the first day I was able to log onto Brawl with an internet speed higher than 10 kb/sec. I was exploring the lobby, talking to people, and messing around with the pets and cosmetics I found I had, as I was given the MVP rank; and at that time I had thought PROs on MCPVP must have been downgraded to MVP as Brawl had no higher rank.


As the next week or two progressed, I realized that Brawl did add a new rank to accommodate the highest-of-three position PRO stood in: Elite. As I wandered around the server and forums, I heard the PRO to Elite exchange mentioned at least twice; and one of them was from a news post.



I was puzzled, thinking, “Why did I not get Elite, then?” If you want a simple answer: I didn’t. Want a complex answer? Wait until later on.


Let’s go ahead to June Sixth - exactly six months ago. I was finally brave enough that day to post a thread in the purchase issues section regarding the error in my rank transfer. The response (singular) can be seen in screenshot form at the top of the thread: chickenputty said he’ll contact hclewk to verify that I had PRO on MCPVP, and when hclewk responds, chickenputty will come back and tell me.


That was the last I ever heard of the matter.


Skip six months, and we land right here; December Sixth. It seems that the Brawl staff are faster at getting two gamemodes out of beta (and a third very close) than contacting someone you just bought a multiplayer server from. Does it really take six months? There are two explanations for why: Hclewk never checks for messages, or Brawl simply never sent it. When I initially made the thread back in June, the entire issue I passed off as an anomaly. I thought, “This should be fixed soon.”


How wrong I was.

Spoiler: My guess on why this is all happening

The story of how I got PRO rank is a little weird. During MCPVP's massive sell-out sale before the EULA took effect on August first, I bought lifetime MVP, because I didn't have enough money at the time for lifetime PRO. However, the evening of July thirty-first came a great surprise: I actually could get lifetime PRO now! I had fifty USD, enough to upgrade from MVP to PRO, and a few hours before the stroke of midnight (cliche). I purchased fifty dollars worth of credits. Then, I contacted MCPVP's customer service, and after a whopping two days (notice how it isn't six months), Rachel from MCPVP replied back, saying that my rank was upgraded, and that I should send another email if I needed any more help. I didn't have to.

Where does this all lead? During the entire time on MCPVP since then, I found that even though the lifetime PRO took priority in that it was a higher rank, the MVP was still hidden in the shadows, unused. I think that when Brawl ran the program or plugin or whatever to transfer ranks, it read the MVP first and gave me MVP accordingly, instead of prioritizing the higher rank and giving me Elite as I should have gotten.
