If you have read the title - which is very likely since you are here - you already know the question. When listening to music in class and the headset falls out I get really awkward situations, so I'd like some help with this. Any suggestions?

The headphones doesn't appear as a separate playback device, so I'll either disable all sound or none when using this option.
An all-around solution would be getting an USB connected headset, so that's something I'm saving up for today.

That would be the best solution. So inside the Sound wizard you disable your PC speakers and make sure your headphones are plugged in so you can set them to 'Default'. Now when you disconnect your headphones the computer will try to use the built in speakers but no sound will come out.

There may be an easier option instead of getting a whole new set of earbuds.
Its called a USB sound driver. It converts an analogue signal of the 3.5mm headphones to a digital signal through the USB ports. This way the computer will recognize it as a separate device in the sound wizard.
    They look something like this.

Mute the volume (turn down all the way) when headset is unplugged, turn it up when it is plugged. I do this and it works. Hope I could help!

As stated before, this doesn't work. The speakers and headset are for whatever reason not separate devices.
