Do ya'll celebrate Christmas even though you're not christian? I ask, 'cause I'm starting to see it more as an American culture thing; I'm christian and I tried to take part in Ramadan once, just for solidarity with some muslim friends.

I suppose the same thing you guys do when it's a Muslim or a Hindu holy day... They mostly ignore it. I have Jewish cousins in Israel who, until last year, never celebrated Christmas.

I'm not American but every atheist I know in real life celebrates Xmas. I know a Jihova's Witness (shameless spelling mistake) who doesn't celebrate Xmas but that's it, really.

Judging by the title, I thought this was going to be another highly controversial D3 thread. I guess not. :V Christmas has definitely become a sort of culture thing. Tbh, if it wasn't, people would probably be flipping out about it.

"Oh noes, a religious holiday? We can't have that; this is America after all. We wouldn't want to offend anyone. This holiday could be taken as an endorsement of religion. Whatever shall we do?" :V

I'm a Canadian atheist who still celebrates Christmas as a holiday for the appreciation of family and friends.

I don't actually know many people who don't celebrate Christmas, although I know many people (myself included) who celebrate it in a secular way more than as a religious holiday.

What even is that sentence :stuck_out_tongue:

Haven't really been that religious since I was a child, but I still celebrate Christmas with my family and friends for the sake of being festive.

The majority of America is Christian and that's why these holidays are becoming more cultural rather than religious. I myself am religious but notice even non-religious family decorate and celebrate the same holidays.
