    Sup Brawlers,

I've seen many players over compensate for skills by using the Ray gun. In infect, the ability to be both parkour and dish out pain to the zombies are key elements to making it out alive while using the ray.

While I am unorthodox and perhaps forward thinking I think some players benefit more from the ISO more than the ray gun, for those experienced to use it.........I just said for those skilled enough to use it, might help them and their team when faced with a zombie apocalypse.

If you are a skilled sniper you might find like I did, that the ray often misses and an ISO gives you a more professional edge.

This is not going to suit everyone's taste but for those "very small groups of players" that are skilled enough, I think it provides an excellent alternative to the ray.

Since December I've been using the ISO in all game modes including infect. While it takes time to master, I find that I am able to both shoot more accurately if I just use it all the time. I enjoyed my Dissa and wanted to master another weapon.

Ideally, the shooter will want to pair this gun with the perk "fast reload" to maximize the speed at which the bullets are reloaded.

Also, positioning, timing, and ability to focus and aim while chaos is exploding around you are key elements to using this rifle successfully. Pitch of the shot and angle are key elements. Ideally, you want to be close to ground level, so that if you miss one zombie your shot might still kill those running with it.

Here is a Youtube that I like that reviews the weapon.

Here is a scene from Black Hawk down, 2 Delta Snipers holding off a large number of attackers

A brief overview of the ISO advantages, disadvantages, and specs.

    Advantages
    • The ISO has the advantage of killing any enemy the bullet touches.
    • The ISO is accurate at short, medium, and very long ranges.
    • This is a Sniper weapon, so when using it think like a sniper.
    • Large ammo capacity
    • Great with flanking and sniping.
    Disadvantages
    • It is weak against fast charging opponents (for those who aren't used to aiming) due to slow reload and constant reload. Fast reload can help with this.
    • The shooter can be caught off guard by multiple fast moving during slow reload times.
    • It must be charged/reloaded after 4 shots.
    • When using in close quarters the shooter must be very accurate or switch to sidearm.
Head shots kill super armor users instantly.....see that zombie with super armor....boom! Not any more.

    Unlocked at: Level 36

    Price: 870 credits

    Fire Rate 66.6 RPM

    Fire Mode Bolt

    Reload Time 5 seconds

    Magazine Size 4 + 60

Damage 107 (more than 100% damage, rounds kill on contact)

    Recoil 8.0

    Range 400m

    Hip Accuracy 8.0

    Aimed Accuracy 0.2

It's, I hate it when people call others "iso nub". It's actually a pretty hard weapon to use.

Funniest thing I've read on the forums all day. Iso takes 0 skill to use.

If it's so easy why don't more people use it?

Every gun takes a different amount of skill, technique, and strategy.

When you have a KDR higher than 6 I'll listen the advice.

Truth is most people use the skully because it is easy to use. The ISO takes skill to use while not being killed by all the skullies.

KDR doesn't matter, for all I know you grinded with a group of friends (you kill them they don't kill you), only played infect games, or camped in ctf in that black ops 1 snowy map.
Sure skully is easy to use, but using iso and trying to not get killed by all the skullies makes absolutely no sense! You can say that for any gun. The M16 takes skill to use while not being killed by all the skullies. The USP45 takes skill to use while not being killed by all the skullies. The Lemantation takes skill to not be killed by all the skullies. See where I'm going with that? That's not a valid argument, my good sir.

    Then we'll agree to disagree.

    1) I don't take advice from people who don't have high KDR's or they aren't on the leader boards.

    2) When you say ISO doesn't require skill....I can't reason with you based on any of the logic you've provided since none of it makes any sense. We have different opinions and that is that. If you had a high KDR or were on the leaderboards or had a coherent well thought out reason why they I would listen. Just seems like you are saying ISO noob as the basis of your entire poorly thought out argument.

Back on topic, take the ISO to a game of infect do you do better or worse than you would with the Ray gun?

I would agree. The people that say it is easy rarely use it, never nuke, and are typically people I've never even heard of. Having used it on all maps in all games, I would say that is most definitely a difficult gun to use due to the slow reload, low magazine size, and constant reloads required...while not being shot. Lol

My philosophy still stands: use a better, faster, more rounded weapon then the very streamlined single kill centered isolator. (tdm/ctf is what its designed for)
Instead use something similar, but more infect oriented like the dissaembler. It's not really that hard to get a headshot, and with scavenger you can easily just set the infect up and knock them down. Even without scavanger the ability to practically never reload could mean life or death for your allies. So that's my alternative.

Overlord please, you know this isn't true. Well. Okay it's not true in most cases, me being an exception. But only sith deal in absolutes.
My personal stance is anti-isolator, but that doesn't mean I'll disrespect another player and call them a noob for using it. I agree with you to some extent, the constant reload is a bother, but that's remedied by being able to lay down a hail of Python fire between iso shots. On its own, the iso would be horribly difficult to use, but the incredible sidearms in this game just doesn't make me agree with the fact that using the isolator is hard. That was poorly worded. Let's say if I saw someone nuke with JUST the iso I would be impressed, but we know that doesn't happen 90% of the time.

Thing is, I've posted so many replies regarding iso that were coherent, specific, well thought out responses that I'm just tired of doing it. Sure I could copy and paste it, but I don't want to be redundant. You can call my argument poorly thought out, you could call it a 10/10; Winner - IGN, but I still wouldn't care because I've already stated my opinions about it hundreds of times. I never use iso and I nuke just about every game I play. I at least EMP every game, wanna know why? Dissa doesn't require me to reload every 3 seconds, headshots are insta-kill, and I have scavenger. All-in-all, you're pathetic little iso can't possibly nuke in one clip, let alone get a 5 ks in one clip. You'll spend more time reloading iso than you will actually be shooting. I would never take iso to infect, I would take ray, and if I didn't have ray, I'd take model.
Sorry about me not caring enough to give a decent response, I'll go more in-depth when I feel like it. I'm just tired of all the newbs making threads saying "OH EM GEE ISO IS SO OHPEE ONLY USE IT EVERY GAME TO WIN YEA". That's how I read the titles of iso-loving threads because I think it takes 0 skill to left click, right click, left click, right click. Dissa requires left click, aim for head, right click, look around, aim, right click, etc. Hopefully you'll actually understand this reply.

That's why I run minigun for infect (on really crowded servers) because no other gun can hold out as long as the mini in that desperate last stand. It's also why I'm going to make sure @MR_EVIL_OVERLORD has one in the next short story series I make. I need to actually get through one this time instead of posting an outro halfway through

I agree, most people are not actually very good at using it.

Most people just hate being killed by it.

I nuke with just the ISO only and I agree that it is incredibly difficult to use.

PS - I also studied all your sniper guides from the old days so that gives me a Degree in Sniperology.....
