I think it's kind of absurd that general swearing isn't allowed. Swearing, honestly, isn't awful and most MC servers allow it. If Brawl really feels so strongly about swearing, then you should alert the new players when they first log on that swearing is allowed.

Swearing should be allowed just you can't use it to spam and rage. Like saying it over and over and going crazy raging in chat saying things over and over. Saying it once or twice, isn't that bad. Every time I swear on the server, I always have like 2-3 membership ranked players, if online, telling me to not swear as if they were some sort of moderator or they were going try had to become one and it's annoying. Please consider this, I know alot of people may disagree, but ALOT of people will agree.

Swearing is censored for a reason, I don't think the chat filter needs to be changed at all. After all there are people on the server that would most likely get offended if there was an excessive amount of cursing in chat.

I'd think excessive amount of swearing would fall under spam and you could filter that, but just an occasional swear doesn't have any harm in it.

I think when you cuss the "****" gets the point around of what you're saying.

Let me think about this... how about no?
To be honest, the uncensored chat was horrible... don't want to see that again... never...

I joined the server during a time when there were no chat filters. It was hell. People would curse like sailors, someone dies and they're all "**** you" "you are a ***" and the worst part of it was that it wasn't censored, so it was a mass problem for the kids playing that they would have to F1 every time their parents came by.

When the swear filter was first implemented, it was only limited to a few swears.

I think the filter should stay. However, if you feel that it should be taken out, ask a DEV to implement a simple command that you could toggle it off and on. Ex. /curseon , Ass Hole! Ex. /curseoff, *** Hole!

Too much time wasted on something pretty useless. The time that takes to make could be put to far better use.

Going to give it to you straight. This game is a kids game, most kids under 8 years old ahouldnt be exposed to such language. Seeing as around half of the players here are 16 years plus, the searing could become excessive and in turn corrupt the younger communities in turn making them worse as the get older.

. I agree and disagree with this statement, 1: Swearing SHOULD be censored. Because of offencement and other crap that i don't want to name. This is why I agree with it. Brawls censor is a bit over-board and will censor pretty stupid things  I believe that they should kinda nerve it

I'm going to say no to this. A majority of players on Minecraft are young (13 and younger). They shoul not be exposed to the amount of vulgar language that is thrown around. The whole point a a moderators muting for bypassing is to keep from showing the cuss word. We aren't just going to be like "we have all these mutes to prevent swearing but all of a sudden think swearing is totally fine." No.

The uncensored chat was quite a nasty sight to behold. That combined with the fact that the average age of a minecraft player is probably quote low, I don't think that it's necessary to get rid of the curse filter.

I feel pretty strongly about making the chat filter toggle-able. There are plenty of people here that are mature enough to handle the occasional swear and shouldn't have to deal with the filter because some 10 year olds ruin it for everyone. Of course, I highly doubt many people (particularly the higher staff) will share my opinion.

I know I'm not higher staff, but I agree with the toggle feature. Most popular games have that option and in a java program I believe, don't quote me on this please, that a simple if/else loop would be all that was needed. I know many people that have seen the times of the no chat filter would probably not want to relive the nightmare though.

There are many other ways to express yourself without swearing. Like most people said, you have to be mindful of the you're players. I'm sure you can find other words (without bypassing the chat filter) to explain how you feel without violating the rules.

Bob hit the nail on the head. Nuff said.

I'll continue anyway, since I'm bored and talk too much.

One thing I have noticed with the current filter is how it seems to further infuriate the cussers who are trying to express their rage. The fact that there is something limiting themselves from raging seems to spur their rage on further, so comments such as "oh **** that was bull" may be followed by "**** this **** filter".

Yes and in modern times we don't have kids swearing or other sh*t flooding the media that they can see in a second. As if four stars really leave that much to the imagination. Tell me, do you think that the problem is exposing immature sh*trats to this? Because it's not, they're the REASON this exists, immature idiots who can't shut up.

A server should not have to babysit children, and as many others have said before me, atleast have it on toggle. I swear like a sailor online, sure, but I don't swear when I'm in public doing something noteworthy. It's called self control, kids who don't have it are walking meatbags, worthless.

In conclusion, I see no reason why I can't add "... AND THEN HE F*CKS YOUR WIFE!" to a joke if the people reading it are mature.

Why would this be a good idea fro anyone? Do you want to see all the swears? I don't. Think about all of the kids that are under 13. After all, this is Minecraft. It's supposed to be a kids game. The chat toggle command would work, but that's just more useless coding time like Cowlick said. The coders should work on Wild West rather than this controversial command for uncensoring swears for yourself. Let's think about this: A kid who's 11 is playing Mc-War. Someone is raging (not flaming, not mutable offence until it becomes flaming) in chat because they just got killed after a high kill streak. He is swearing it up with many, many swears. The 11 year old's parent walks by and happens to see this swearing. What's she going to do? Let them keep playing this game filled with swears? I doubt it. They are most likely not going to let them play on the server or turn the chat off. Brawl just lost a player and potential donator. On the other hand, turning the chat off isn't so bad, but that takes away from the player's connection to others and they are just :another random player". Either one is bad. That story may be a little extreme, but it could happen. I would suggest not taking the time to code this command just so Brawl could potentially loose players.
