I recently created a private vanilla 1.9 server for me and some of my friends to play on, and one bug I noticed that is consistent is stated as follows.
Every time a player dies on my server, it lags me out completely for a short period (around 30 seconds). It happens immediately when any player dies, immediately the server becomes unresponsive, and my entire internet network goes out briefly.
I would greatly appreciate help from anyone who knows anything on this matter, or how to fix it.
    Thanks

I didn't ask people if they thought I should play vanilla, did I?

And does this occur during any other actions? Or is it just regarding the vanilla server? If so, does it happen on all servers?
What're you using to host? A server or your own connection, hamachi, p2p?

Just regarding a vanilla server. It only seems to happen when a player dies. I am hosting it from my own computer (port forward) so that might have something to do with why I experience brief outages.

Yeah typically it's not unheard of to lag whilst hosting a server, player dies, has to update all the chunks and the player pos info, there's your lag.

Yes, but there is no way that the cause of my "lag" is my computer. I'm running a brand new custom built PC, and I have hosted many servers on it previously, some far more intensive such as mod packs.
I'm just trying to figure out why I have a "DDoS" like reaction whenever a player dies. Perhaps a coding malfunction... or a common bug?

I mean lag as in latency, your internet, I'm assuming is lower quality than something MEANT to host a minecraft server, keep in mind YOUR internet is running the server, so when someone dies, respawns, because of the fact the server needs to keep up with whatever minecraft needs to do, that spike causes server lag, basically, you lag.
