well, I have a Farley crappy little laptop. Running Windows 8. I run mc from 20-160 frames always moving. No clue why. I was wondering if jumping up to Windows 10 would ruin my performance and if I could downgrade if it did?

Well, the polarised amounts of frames you get, could indicate your laptop is very capable of running MC.
I speculate that your frames are inconstant probably because you run MC with different programs open at different times.
Constantly only play MC with nothing open in the background, and as many background processes ended, to get a constant best case benchmark.

That may solve your bad frame rates.

Also, since you play on a laptop, try playing MC whilst plugged into the charger, sometimes Windows does not run with maximum performance when on battery.

I constantly have it plugged it, and I only run Teamspeak or skype in the BACKROUND.

Could you play with nothing at all running?
Teamspeak and skype can be memory hogs, especially when engaged in a voice call.

Also, try a program like Razor Cortex, it does an amazing job at optimising laptops for running games.

Razor Cortex is a program, that closes background processors, makes a custom power plan to force Windows to run at its highest performance ect. Nothing to do with your Logitech Peripheral.

Well, seeing as I have no clue how to downgrade to Windows 7 which I have wanted to since I got my laptop, I don't know. Could you help me to downgrade some time?

All you need is a backup of your stuff, either a CD or USB with a Windows 7 crack, you install it and have it overwrite your existing OS. Once loaded, use Daz Boot Loader to trick Windows into never expiring the trial.

Set the process priority of minecraft to real-time or high. Ctrl alt del -> i'm on my phones o can't check what it is called.. -> right click at minecraft -> select move to process -> right click on the process and set the priority.

    Or just use ubuntu.

I do, it doesn't change performance at all. I'll be trying razor cortex tonight.

Cortex helped me a crap ton, it boosted my FPS by like 100 originally. Then I deleted it though.

It practically froze mine. Went from 120fps to 20. I was in the mode where you launch the game from the cortex and nothing else runs.
