WarZ Idea

Car suggestions seem to be very popular these days, and to be honest, I am not surprised. But, I imagine they would be rather difficult to code and may lag quite a lot. Also, I imagine if someone is driving a car they would be rather difficult to kill which can help people evade from PVP. Possibly if you shot the wheel for example the car cannot move for x number of seconds therefore in that time frame the driver can be shot and killed.

I think there is a lot of room for discussion on this suggestion and it will be very interesting to see people's ideas.

 

Cars should be minecarts. I've coded a private testing plugin and I've coded cars in it. Anyways, you should add more detail like like where they spawn etc.

 

Why not use horses ? Or just retexture a mine cart. But if you want really cars gonna have to download a mod
for the server and I don't think a lot of people know how to download a mod

 

Never really like car suggestions as Shotbow already had them. We don't wan't people to think we copy others...

 

I didn't know shotbow had that... But their gun plugin is useless

 

Not useless, quite good, but PVPGuns+ beat them long down in their boots.

I don't really see cars being added to Mc-War any time soon. Would be a hassle to code, plus they would probobly cause lag for some users. Also, as gamemaster800 said, we don't want to look like we are coping other servers. Not really a good look for Mc-War... Maybe sometime in the future.

 

I could give you a ip to a old server who had cars as minecrarts that was a DayZ serv if you would like.

 

Thank you for clearing that up. Must have read the initial thread wrong. I still stand by my previouse point though, but thanks for explaining how there are more ways than one to do cars.

 

Imitation is exactly what we're trying to avoid. That wouldn't do anything more than plagiarize or mimic someone else's Ideas. Not really a good thing to do.

Not only just because of the implementation of other servers that have cars, but WarZ is basically a PvP server at its core all about you, and the struggle to get where you want to go. Having cars of any sort would only just simplify that, as well as cause a lot of unneeded traffic whereas the "on foot approach works better"

As for where they spawn, I would say that the gas station would be a given for it. As well as Electro as its an actual town with some cars already in existence. The airfield could also be seen as a potential area to find vehicles

As for the horse Idea, you could make the horses spawn specifically in that zone. And you could re-texture them as cars (Ford Mustang?), yet the idea is you cannot use them without saddles. Which, happen to be textured as Gasoline Tanks.
