No. Even that wouldn't work because you're adding the x to the 4. Even though x has the capabilities of being an infinite amount of options the x's still won't be the same.

 

If you minus x from the right side, you'll have know x and same from the right. If you minus 4, it'll do nothing

 

Ok. Take this with a grain of salt because it's 1:50 am here and I'm in bed and I'm tired but here's my answer. It's almost like thinking there are two sides to one coin. We know that x+4=x, but that is only 1 side of the coin. To solve this equation, we must now set the other side equal to x and then set up both equations to solve for x. So x+4=x becomes x=x-4. Now that we have both equations and we can see that they are linear equations, we can set up a linear system of addition to solve. (To make it easier to see, ill use the same formatting. This does not change either equation.)
X=x+4
X=x-4
------------
2x=2x

I used addition to cancel out the 4's, leaving only the x's. From there I simply divide both sides by 2 to get the solution of x=x.
2x/2=2x/2
-----------------
x=x

If this isn't right, I'm sorry. I'm brain-dead right now. In any case, goodnight. If I find a better way I'll edit this tomorrow.

Basically this paradox about a hotel with infity rooms and infity guests says that ∞-∞=∞ and ∞/∞=∞ so ∞+4=∞

Also @Featherpaw, my answer is true when you consider that since I defined infinity as undefined, adding or subtracting anything from it would keep it as undefined infinity due to the nature of infinity.
