    Night of thunder

    Perspective: Wiki
Wiki was sitting on his bed, staring out the small, barely adequate window as the moonlight filtered through.
"This is general Tullius", the basewide comms system clicked on, broadcasting the general's voice all through the facility, "strike teams one through six will move to briefing room two. Immediately". Wiki winced as the comms deafening click reported that it was time to move. He stood up, pulling his L118a off the wall and checking it's sight, mechanisms, and ammo. Satisfied, Wiki turned and pulled his helmet on, strapping it down.
"Welcome back unit-3602" said his helmet's built in systems, "now initiating Heads Up Display". A gentle him filled Wiki's ears as a green mesh of data and error messages filled his eyes. This cleared quickly, leaving him with a softly pulsing green glow to every solid surface.
"Objective updated. Charting route to Briefing room two" reported his helmet.
"No no, I don't need a route Ecsa (or Electronic Combat and Survival Assistant), please maintain standard systems". He made his way out of his room, slipping on the heavy body armor kept hung on the door as he did so.

A few other people joined him in the hall, more in the elevator. The hum of electronic systems getting steadily louder as the men made their way toward the command room. Single file, Wiki followed his fellow soldiers into the briefing room. Commander Light was standing infront of a map, several pins stuck in it. Some blue, several red.
"This is the situation" he growled, turning his head to look at the board, Wiki made a face as the long scar across his commander's neck became just visible through the white body armor he wore. Light gestured to the pins, "as you can see, we're losing the battle for land. However, as of an hour ago our fighters cleared the air over these three locations". The commander circled three red pins just behind the battle line. A few soldiers around Wiki nodded, understanding the gist of what they were to do.
"Our objective is to utilize this window. Two strike forces each will infiltrate and cripple these three facilities. Strike forces one and two will go to alpha, strike forces three and four to bravo, five and six to charlie. Stay in radio silence until we begin the attack, we'll be coming in hot and the less our enemy knows about this drop the better". Light nodded to the commanders of the other five forces, they gestured to their teams and left for the launch bays. Wiki's brow furrowed as he followed the other nineteen soldiers in his force out of the briefing room and toward the bay elevators.
"So Wiki, how dangerous do you think this'll be?" Murmured a young man beside him. Wiki hadn't really thought about this.
"Well... They have put Light in command of this mission. They've been trying to hold this airspace desperately. It could be in and out or it could be a drop into hell" Wiki muttered back. The man was about to respond when a captain to his left hissed at the two, "shut up rookies". The young man went red and looked at his feet.

As the heavy doors to the launch bay opened, Wiki had to pick his jaw off the floor. A massive hangar full of bustling engineers, drones, vertical launch fighters and transports.
"Look sharp!" Called Wiki's strike commander, "get to launch pad thirteen! Double time!". To his left and right Wiki could see the other strike teams jogging toward six impressive transports. Painted black with massive twin engines, strike team two's transport was a sight to behold. The pilot was just finishing his flight preparations, strapping himself in and flicking some switches.
"Get yourself ready to go, we leave in one minute!" The commander gestured to the slowly opening drop doors in the back of the transport. Wiki's HUD noted that they were boarding a T-45 Thunder transport ship. The best in it's class.
"Oh goodness" he muttered as the dim red running lights of the passenger section engulfed him and his strike force.
"This doesn't look a whole lot more comfortable than the T-35s" chuckled another soldier as they got themselves strapped into the metal seats, checking for strap damage (that could mean death if things got choppy).
"Welcome to the Iron Lady" crackled the pilots slightly mechanical voice over the transport intercom, "we'll be coming in hot and heavy. Fighter escort will drop out two thirds of the way to try to maintain stealth"
"Oh good" muttered Wiki, shifting uncomfortably as his L188a pressed into his back. Wiki's commander made his way inside as the doors began to close. A hush fell over the transport as the engines roared to life.

"Comms check" said the commander. One by one Wiki's team checked in, "this is Strike nine, Wiki, comms are nominal". After the check the silence fell over the room, filled by only the sounds of air rushing around the thin metal walls and the hum of engines.
"Gentlemen, if you direct your attention to our magnificent comrades, our fighters are heading back. About ten minutes to our drop. Get yourself ready". Wiki looked out of the tiny windows lining the walls. A sleek, dark blue arrow looking plane banked hard away from him, showing an impressive array of various ordinance. This feeling was replaced by dread as he noted that his vulnerable transport was now alone in the air. "Check your weapons if you haven't already" came the commander's voice trough Wiki's helmet coms. A visible shift could be seen in the people around him. Guns clicked and ground against metal as their owners shifted. People checked their equipment, their helmets and coms.

Suddenly, as the room shifted back into somewhat of a normal quiet, the engines of the transport increased in pitch. Wiki noted that his commander was talking to someone from his helmet coms, rather frantically. Other people had noticed and an air of discomfort and confusion descended around the cabin. This went from discomfort to fear as an explosion rocked the air to the right of the transport. This was when the pilot came back on the transport intercom.
"Hang onto something boys, this is going to be rough" he sounded strained, obviously very focused. Wiki shifted, glancing around the cabin. Another explosion lit up for dim room for a second, then another. The engines pitched up again as the entire transport turned to the right, the clacking of chaff pods being released filling Wiki's ears. A second red light flicked on next to the first, the standby light. A few people put their helmets on, some pressed a few buttons on their arm interfaces, many HUD computers flicked back and forth from combat mode to standby mode to test the systems. Wiki prepped himself mentally, remembering his drop protocol. This train of thought was shattered by an explosion that could be felt from right behind him. The scream of protesting engines and flaps announced that the pilot had temporarily lost control of the vehicle.
"Green light in T minus ten seconds" announced the pilot. Wiki took a deep breath, adrenaline filling his veins. A loud buzzer filled his ears as the light flicked green, illuminating his comrade's faces. Many of them stone, showing no emotion, others showed fear. One young man, (who according to rumor lost his brother to the red's forces) had a look of anger in the green glow.

The bay door opened, letting howling wind rip into the cabin. Wiki undid his straps, clipping his weapons down and lining up with his comrades. The starry sky was alive with the red flashes of anti-air fire.
"Drop drop drop!" Shouted the commander, pushing a hesitater out of the cabin. Wiki got a running start, his breath catching as he did, and hurled himself out of the Iron Lady. About two more people jumped out when the transport's right engine exploded. Wiki couldn't hear the wind blasting around his ears, only the ringing from the next four explosions. Metal chunks came hurtling toward the slowly forming soldiers. They fell through the cloud layer, helmet visor being filled with vapor. His HUD plotted a route to the designated drop. Icons on the right side of his vision represented his fellow soldiers. Eight of them had flickered into nothing as the Iron Lady's burning husk came past, the sound of twisted metal unheard through Wiki's still ringing ears. Four more people were caught by the transport's debris, and another four people were removed from the list of survivors. Wiki looked to his left, observing the pilot's body as it fell past in the remains of his cockpit. Only eight people remained in strike team two, things weren't looking good. Far below him, Wiki saw the first parachutes began to open as the hostile base sprawled out before him. As his HUD advised, Wiki opened his own chute, grunting a little as the snap back crushed his chest. An unnatural silence crept over him. Every other time he had dropped it was into already heavily contested space not silence. He noted the explosion of light and quiet thunder as the Iron Lady impacted on the outskirts of the target. His HUD showed him something that gave him hope again, strike force one's transport approaching from the west. Wiki allowed himself a smile, Light's strike force was still at full strength. One by one he saw the transport release its cargo.

The ground came up under Wiki's feet. He landed well and came up alert. The HUD directed him to his surviving comrades.
"Wiki thank goodness" said one of the soldiers as he stepped out of the thick woods, unstrapping his rifle.
"Where's the commander?" Wiki asked, looking around. A feeling of dread growing as he realized what was coming next.
"Killed, he stayed to be the last one off the transport. You're the highest rank here acting commander Wiki". The soldiers around him snapped a salute, which Wiki returned. He took a deep breath, looking around and up at the huge base they were to assault.
"Sir!" Called one of the soldiers, crouched over a small mobile radio, "we have strike team one on the line". Wiki jogged over, slipping on the headset.
"Is this commander Walker?" Asked a voice from the other side, Piky from the sound of it.
"Captain Piky, this is acting commander Wiki, commander Walker was killed inside our transport"
"Yes we saw it crash. We're setting up a small base of operations before beginning our assault, have your surviving forces rendezvous with us as soon as possible"
"Will do" Wiki nodded, shutting the line down. Turning to the assembly of soldiers, battered by smoke, one with a sprained foot.
"Come on boys, we've got work to do"

    based off the personalities of:
    @Piky @_Cesium_ @BlackD1amond @_Featherpaw_ @BuddyCroooock @RyanO2 @907BaccaFTW @BookWyrm17 @randomcitizen1

@RyanO2 gets the honor of setting up the story for blue team. Hang in there bud, I'm sure things will work out for strike team two in the end

That was amazing commander light! I loved every part of it! Am I missing something, or was Wiki (Ryan) on red team in the thread? Is this part of the plot, or am I confused or something? :v

    Nah m8
That was 1. A non-cannon test of the Skyfall word and 2. Your helmet merely shattered and gave you a major concision. You'll be fine

Oh sweet, I'm not dead! Yes! lol I was kinda like wow I died in the first chapter :frowning:, but I guess I didn't. That is great to hear . Minor concussion from a sniper bullet, that must have been a pretty far shot for an expert sniper then, hmm... sounds like my character will have to watch out.
