I think the pickaxe prices are a little too high. 900 ounces of gold for an iron pickaxe. Come on. I know it's fast, but after you've blown 900 ounces on it, and go into the mine, there's a pretty good chance someone will kill you, and you pretty much spent money for nothing.
This is probably just me complaining about getting killed mining and losing valuable equipment numerous times.
I want to here what you guys think.

The durability and mine speed of a diamond pickaxe almost always can pay off the price you bought it for.

If you kill someone with it, it is free.

I'm sorry. I've been lacking in my patrolling of the mines. I promise to do so more in the future. As for now though, I don't believe we need to lower pic prices just yet. They seem to cost just enough to make you work for it, but also give you the satisfaction of having some extra spending money.

Honestly, Mining is no where close to worth it. I needs to be 2x as fast.

I could use a golden pickaxe. I pretty sure they're cheaper than iron ones. It breaks blocks faster than an stone one
(emerald ore break time: golden - 1.25 sec. stone - 3.75 sec.), but it's durability is half that of a wooden one
(golden - 33 wooden - 60). So I don't know if I would be spending more money on golden pickaxes than I would on a single iron one.

I think diamond picks should be 2000, iron picks 600, and stone 300 from the mine merchant. Mining is already not nearly as good money as drug dealing, and you don't have to spend any money to harvest drugs and process them. Lowering prices would definitely encourage more people to consider legal activities when sheriffs are online.

If you buy a pick and don't at least have a Pistol, thats a big risk.

I have a blunderbuss, a saber, and I'm completely clothed in gold armor. Am I a formidable force? Somewhat?

Blunderbuss +sabre is fine gear to end a fight fast. Hit them with each once, or maybe 2 shotguns then 1 sabre if they have armor. But the blunderbuss loses to the Model, and to people with good aim, so be sure that you fight in enclosed spaces.

I actually killed a guy with the ensemble mentioned above. He pretended to be friendly until halfway into the mine, he came out of nowhere and attacked me. I took damage but not much thanks to the gold armor. I shot him with the blunderbuss and he took off running. I gave chase but couldn't find him anywhere. Turns out, I passed him as he was hiding in corner. I then saw him coming at me again and I shot him with the blunderbuss, killing him.
After that, I started taunting him in chat. It wasn't anything nasty, I just called him a liar and told him that I warned him not to attack me. I think he rage quitted after that, because I didn't see his name in the list of players online anymore.

The people who ACTUALLY don't want any trouble will respect your space from what I've learned. If they come too close after you've said to back up a bit, you know they're gonna jump you once your back is turned. People think they slick wit it.

Also, is gold armor worth it? Did you buy it yourself or get it from a camp? Seeing as though you don't take damage that often in Wild West, I would imagine gold armor lasting a decent amount of time.

Initially, this guy seemed like he didn't want any trouble either. When he saw me approaching the entrance to the mine, he ran into the mine. I told him in chat to not attack me and that I was friendly. He said, "same". I didn't see him again until halfway into the mine where he came out of nowhere and started attacking. BTW, the mine was Rosebud, and the guy's name was @EatenBanana.

I haven't had much use out of the gold armor, but it's definitely tougher than leather armor and has a higher durability. A full set of gold armor ran me 6,650 ounces of gold. Way cheaper than diamond, but more expensive than leather.

I dont think the cost of the pickaxe is the problem. It's the threats of the people trying to take pickaxes from you that makes the prices seem so high. I think this can easily be solved, not by lowering the prices, but have sheriffs patrol the mine more often.

It would be a miracle if that happens.

The popo don't have time for patrolling the mines, they're too busy arresting people at the testificate traphouses.

    Obviously.

Maybe MORE sheriffs would help? And getting rid of the inactive ones.
