EULA Compliance

Not gonna work, read the FAQ of the EULA, this has been addressed

EULA restricts soft currencies that are used to buy gameplay affecting items if those soft currencies can be bought with real money or you cAn buy double/triple/whatever income of those currencies for $

Welp...this sucks. I am not on 1.9, but this sucks. I really hope Brawl can still run the server, I would be heartbroken if this server goes under.

Basically, Soft Currency = the Brawl coins you were talking about, and here it basically says "You cannot sell Brawl coins for real money," :V

I don't even see why they have this in the EULA, whats the harm, unless its just Microsoft not wanting other people to make money off their game - They only bought it cause they wanted some extra cash.

 

Stay on 1.8 forever, tell M$ to f*ck off. Problem solved.

 

The problem is they could sue the server and/or shut it down, keeping it on 1.8 won't help

 

They will have to sue hundreds of servers if they go down that route - That would cost Mojang a tonne.

 

Agreed. Here's the deal- Microsoft spent $2 Billion for Minecraft and people there are now tasked to protect their intellectual property. There will be easy battles that they can win, and hard battles that they won't try to win. I hope that Brawl makes it not worth Microsoft's time.

 

The reason why the EULA is being enforced is because there are some servers who charge hundreds of dollars for little things like a kit for a gamemode or a pet. The would make tons of money off of little 5 year-olds who don't have impulse control, who would buy a bunch of things with their parent's credit cards. When the parents got the bill, they would send angry emails at Mojang, since most of them are going to the company in charge. This made Mojang look bad, but since they were an indie company, no-one really cared. However, now Microsoft, a huge company, owns Minecraft, and if they let this continue, this would be a fantastic story for news articles. So they added the EULA to prevent this stuff, which is why the EULA states multiple times that all servers must clearly say they are not affiliated with Mojang/Microsoft when you purchase something.

 

Really it's about time Mojang did something.
They released this EULA system at least a year ago and basically held people to the same system as the prohibition.
"Don't do it kids, it's naughty, but we won't do anything about your underground activities". I'm glad to see them handling themselves like they care (because seriously. The donor stuff was pretty crazy)

I'm not upset about my weapons getting normalized. As I said before I would have donated straight up, not for anything, if I had to. I love this server, So ultimately I'm glad to have helped regardless of what I got out of it.
