    The Legend of Roke

    ♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛♛

Once, in an age long past, there emerged a holy power. It grew and flourished in an age of happiness. An age when donors were seen as pious and the LAW was the weapon of choice. Subtle at first, this power grew until it possessed the largest following ever known to the land of Brawl, which was then known as the land of Mult-Iplay Erser-Vers. The holy fellowship of GSG surrounded and treasured the light they had found. Their benevolent, powerful, and now well-known leader: Lord_Roke. He was the one. His name is unchanging. Throughout Brawl history, he has only been officially known by his one, true name: Lord_Roke. All other names given to him by the people he serves and loves he has taken patiently and in good humor. In the past, he has loved and cared for the people, even under the reigns of Bvo, chickenputty, GreenPeas_, and Myortvye and Chap.

In the age of Bvo and Putty, a silence came over the land. The benevolent Roke continued to serve silently, forever loving his people, knowing that he had not the power to bring about another age of happiness... yet. Times of chaos ensued with a massive clash and power struggle between the two titans. This ended in Bvo's defeat. Stripped of his power, he was exiled from Brawl, remembered now only in the hearts of only his most loyal followers.

Then entered the age of GreenPeas_ shortly afterward, and Brawl entered a brief age of happiness once more. During this period, Roke grew and drew strength and wisdom from the enlightenment that GreenPeas_ supplied. The great and powerful titan Putty allowed GreenPeas_ his allotted time, for he knew he was no threat to him and had foreseen his demise. One sunny day, Lord_Roke was walking with the great master GreenPeas_ through a forest glade, when the master spoke one of his usual prophetic utterances.

"Roke my boy, take heed of the noob who joined April of this year. There is more to her than you would expect. Her destiny is one of power as is yours. See to it that you protect her from the evil that is to come."

And with that, GreenPeas_ walked on ahead of Roke, leaving him to ponder his words. GreenPeas_' prophecy was partially fulfilled May of that year. It began as merely a normal day for Roke. As he went about his rounds, he came across a girl with an odd aura about her. He found it unusual that she would be sitting so nonchalantly in the barren crags of Survival that he patrolled, but then realized that this was the one the people had been speaking of. The reason she spent so much time in the wastelands of Survival was because she had a heart to serve. At that moment, Roke realized that she had journeyed to Brawl sometime around April of that year and promptly came to the conclusion that this was the one who GreenPeas_ had spoken the prophecy of. Roke put her to the test and the girl triumphed over the terrible beast Int Erview that all the Gifted Ones must face. With that, Lord_Roke initiated her into the Order of the Gifted Ones, took her under his wing, and taught her how to be great.

But the times of peace would not last, for alas, Putty's vision finally came to pass, and GreenPeas_' power waned slowly. He knew also that his time had come. Seeing a great master passing, Lord_Roke met with him as he was leaving the land. With a smile, GreenPeas_ uttered his final words spoken in the land of Brawl while he still possessed the glorious red aura.

"Take care of them Roke." said GreenPeas_. "Take care of them, for you are about to behold the darkest time that has ever come upon Brawl. When the undeserving is elevated, and the puppet rules, you will know that the dark times are at hand."

"I will heed your words, glorious master. May your journey to the realm of happiness be unhindered, and your wisdom save us all." replied Roke.

And with that, the holy sage GreenPeas_ passed out of the realm of Brawl. Legend has it that he roams as a hermit in the Holy Mountains now.

Signs of the dark times foretold had been beginning to become apparent by the time GreenPeas_ had left. A Gifted One with a rare aura of green had been beginning to behave oddly. At first, he was immensely pleasureable to keep company with, and the people loved him for his obvious talent. He was known as Myortvye. However, it could not be ignored by the other Gifted Ones that Myortvye had been spending an unusually large amount of time alone. It had been rumored that he had found a way to communicate with the Great Chaploo, the dark lord who founded the land of Brawl who was sealed away in a void by chickenputty and a few other ancients who possessed the brilliant red aura. Supposedly, he dabbled in the dark arts as well. Of course, these were only rumors at the time, but communication with Chaploo undoubtedly would have accounted for his unusual behavior. Slowly he changed from amiable to biting as time went on, and all the while the rumors grew. A while after Peas had left, Myortvye, still possessing his green aura began to behave as though he was the leader of the Gifted Ones. This odd turn of events was met with humor by some of the Order, though others reacted with resentment and fear. Chickenputty seemed dubious about the whole ordeal, as though he knew something that the others didn't. However, in the midst of these unusual times, something wonderful occurred. The glorious Roke's power grew until his purple aura faded only to be replaced with a vibrant, more powerful gold aura. The teachings of GreenPeas_ had paid off, and his power exceeded those of his peers. He was on his way to fulfilling his destiny, though greater challenges awaited him before all would be fulfilled.

The dark times at this point progressed quickly, and nearly blotted out the light that radiated forth from Lord_Roke. Only a few days after Roke achieved his golden aura, Myortvye suddenly gained the mighty red aura. This shocked many of the Gifted Ones as well as the people. Only the dark power of the Great Chaploo himself could have given him this so suddenly. The rumors had been well-founded, and Myortvye gained unimaginable power.

Unfortunately for Roke and the other Gifted Ones, matters only worsened. On one dreary, rain swept day, Roke awoke and made his usual rounds amongst the people of Brawl. He wept internally for the sadness and anger that now characterized them. All that could be heard was talk of the Gifted Ones, and not once was it in a positive manner. Though oftentimes at the receiving end of the hate, he steadfastly went about his duties to protect and care for the people. After he completed his daily rounds, he went to seek company with Cuddle, who had become one of his closest companions in the craggy realm of Survival. That evening. he slowly he trudged through the mud towards her base, hoping to find rest in companionship. However, this was simply not to be. Not Cuddle did he find, but a note upon the mantle of her fireplace. Cuddle had decided to leave the realm of Brawl and had renounced her place in the Order of the Gifted Ones. Stricken with grief, Roke felt then that he had failed to carry out GreenPeas_' wish. Though instead of falling to the overwhelmingly negative circumstances, they merely empowered Roke. So determined became he, that neither the darkness, nor any power then or to come could discourage him from serving the people he loved. He filled the hole left by the lack of Cuddle's presence with complete, unwavering dedication to his duties.

As time went on, it seemed as though the end of Brawl was at hand. Not able to control the massive influx of power he recieved, Myortvye completely lost his mind. He completely usurped control of the Gifted Ones, justifying his rule by the great power of the mighty Chaploo himself. This brought an inner turmoil to the Order unlike any other. Many were banished or driven out by his madness. Others saw what the Order had become and left in disgust. Even the powerful Putty himself felt threatened, and strive as he might, he could not best the combined power of the dark lord Myortvye and his master Chaploo. The Gifted Ones who elected to maintain their positions suffered greatly under the age of darkness that the mad king Myortvye ushered in. Slowly their numbers waned and Myortvye's dark power grew.

One night during this tumultuous period, Roke lay on his bed exhausted, but contented from the good he brought about that day. As he lay, he heard a familiar voice speaking to him.

"My boy, you have done well to have endured such suffering. But hear my words, for you know they are infallible. Your suffering shall surely be assuaged before one month's time since the girl's departure. A familiar face you shall see again and a dim light shall once again shine forth in the land of Brawl. Shortly after a violent upheaval shall take place in the land, a golden radiance shall be bestowed upon she who shares the twin destiny of power with you. Keep up good cheer and be of good courage, and you shall go far."

After hearing these words, Roke sat up in a daze, not certain whether he had been dreaming or whether greater powers than dreams were at play. One thing he knew for certain, however. The voice he heard came from none other than his old teacher, GreenPeas_. Confused and exhausted, these words soon passed from his mind that night as he fell into a deep and peaceful slumber.

Not long did GreenPeas_' words remain distant from Roke's mind, for just one week before a month would have marked Cuddle's absence, she returned and was promptly reinstated into the Order of the Gifted Ones. A familiar face Roke indeed saw, and hope sprang anew in his heart. The two friends knew they could bring much good to the land of Brawl, but feared their overlord Myortvye who might seek to destroy them should he feel threatened. Seeing the danger in remaining together, Cuddle elected to serve the most dangerous part of the land of Brawl: WarZ. Separating themselves for the time being, they went unnoticed by Myortvye, and continued to do what good they could for the people. All the while, GreenPeas_' words echoed in Roke's mind, and he waited for more distressing times to come, as was foretold.

For about a month's time, Myortvye made disappearances on a daily basis. Something occupied his full attention, and for a while, the harshness of his rule was alleviated as he spent hours, even full days locked up in his study. One fateful day, Roke, Cuddled, and the other Gifted Ones were busy speaking about Myortvye's prolonged absences when suddenly, he burst forth strutting from his study. Though this time, he was accompanied by a larger, more menacing being. To the horror of the Order, he proudly proclaimed that he had successfully resurrected the ancient and terrible Chaploo of old.

The great Chaploo wasted no time. He immediately laid out plans to return to his homeland of McPvP, and finding it in peril of collapse, consolidated it into the kingdom of Brawl. Attempting to bring his homeland's kingdom back to a golden age, he funneled it's power and influence back to the land of Brawl, which possessed a much more stable economy. However, though for the best of both kingdoms, this action created a massive upheaval that swept through the land. An enormous amount of displaced people flooded into Brawl's land all at once. Due to the short period of time this occurred over as well as the sheer number of people displaced, instead of smoothly assimilating into the society of their new homeland, they inevitably retained their cultural identity and values. Great divisions and disputes arose among the old and new people of Brawl and the land fell into chaos.

With this new challenge, the Order were kept very busy. Not a day went by that gave them rest. As though keeping the people in order during this period was not difficult enough, members of McPvP's Council of Command were integrated into the ranks of the Gifted Ones. Chaos abounded then, not only with the people, but also within the ranks of those who were supposed to maintain order. Many of the councilmembers from McPvP left as a result of this. Out of desperation, a great meeting was scheduled for the Gifted Ones. For the duration of the meeting, heated debate raged as solutions were proposed and rejected. Roke and Cuddled sat back and watched in silence, saddened by the behavior of their peers. Yet, all the while, GreenPeas_' words echoed in Roke's mind.

"Shortly after a violent upheaval shall take place in the land, a golden radiance shall be bestowed upon she who shares the twin destiny of power with you."

Over and over again, these words were repeated. Though it was clearly immensely dangerous to speak up at this point, Roke gathered his courage and voiced his solution just as the meeting was about to be dissolved.

"My friends, wait, and do not be hasty. For our sakes and for the sakes of our people, we mustn't leave this place without a solution. And a solution now, I present you with. Brothers and sisters, please, can you not see that the Order is in grievous danger? Our own people have begun to hate us. They see our weakness and thrive upon division. Are we no better than them if we ourselves are divided? Yes, our people need help, but let not our positions lead us to arrogant thought. We ourselves are in need of help. Let us not be divisive, but instead, give power to one of us who will bring us together. We must restrain ourselves lest we tear each other apar..."

"I assume then, that you want us to grant you this power?" Sneered Myortvye. "Because if that is the case, I would say that you are no better than an arrogant..."

"Peace my son." interrupted Chaploo himself. "Perhaps this fool actually possesses a bit of sense. I would hear the voices of others on this matter. I will not have my kingdom lost to me once more!"

"If it you would allow it sire" began Putty. "I for one see Roke fit for this..."

"No, I would not allow it scum!" replied Chaploo. "Remember that it was you and a few others who sealed me away in the first place. I don't want YOUR opinion, I want theirs" he said, gesturing to the other Gifted Ones.

At this, the other members began to murmur amongst themselves, considering Roke's proposal.

"I would support you" whispered Cuddle to Roke.

Roke was about to respond when, one after the other, the members of the Order voiced their support for Roke. With each voice raised in agreement, the temptation to abandon his initial plan and take power for himself grew stronger and stronger, until it seemed as though fate itself wanted this for him. An intense battle waged inside of Roke as he tried fight the urge to accept the position. He was interrupted by Chaploo's deep gravely voice.

"Well then. Seeing that we are indeed desperate, and that you have shown that you at least possess some sense in recommending this... Order of the Gifted Ones, I would like to introduce your new mediator: Lord..."

"Lord Chaploo, wait!" interjected Roke. "Please, sir, that... that is that what I was meaning to recommend."

"Hmmm, getting cold feet now are we?" chuckled Chaploo.

"No, sir." responded Roke. Gathering his courage, in a moment of utter selflessness, Roke spoke once more. "What I was proposing, is that not I, but Cuddle should take on this responsibility."

And with that, the council arose in an uproar. Cuddle shot Roke a shocked glance while others arose and shouted their opinions.

"Fool!" cried Myortvye. "What do you take us for? There is no REAL need for a mediator in the first place. I do that already in my spare time. I'm the one who keeps all you idiots in line. What sets her apart from anyone else anyways? She merely possesses the insignificant purple aura!"

"Not everything is about power Myortvye..." Roke began.

"POWER?! WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT POW..."

"PEACE! Power she lacks not!" interjected a voice forgotten to all but Roke.

Every eye in the room turned to an elderly figure standing in the now wide open door. All were forced to squint as sunlight flooded the room, obscuring the identity of the mysterious man.

"WHA! NRG! SHUT THAT CURSED THING, WILL YOU?!" cried Myortvye, shielding his eyes from the light.

The figure merely walked forward and the doors closed on their own accord. Upon closing, it became apparent to only the oldest of the Order that the man standing before them was none other than the great sage GreenPeas_. Frowning, Chaploo began to rise from his seat to meet who he perceived as a threat. Solemnly, GreenPeas_ looked at him and spoke softly.

"Ah Chaploo. The times are indeed dark if you once again walk the earth. But trouble yourself not with I, for what little power I still possess poses no threat to your might. I come not as an enemy to you, but as a friend to the Order. I..."

"If I'm not mistaken, 'friends of the Order' are no longer permitted in this room. I swear, if you are part of that cult Holy, I'LL ROAST MARIO AND SIGNATURED ALIVE!" shouted Myortvye, shooting piercing glares at two he mentioned.

"What do you want Peas?" grumbled Chaploo, ignoring Myortvye's outburst and sitting down once more.

"Gifted friends and members of the Order, pay little heed to me, for I am merely the harbinger of a marvel exceedingly greater than that of my appearance before you. Instead, let your attention be drawn to the girl Cuddle, for now as she sits, she indeed possesses the gold aura."

Every head snapped to where Cuddle sat. As GreenPeas_ finished his sentence, Cuddle's purple aura faded and burst forth in a greater, golden brilliance. All at once, the room was filled with sharp intakes of breath as awe filled the onlookers. Even Cuddle herself appeared surprised.

"The golden radiance!" exclaimed Roke. "To see it here and now! Forgive my surprise master, it is precisely as you foretold it."

"What is this? You mean to say that this was meant to be Roke?" asked Chaploo who now sat with a furrowed brow, pondering what he had just beheld.

"Indeed. 'Shortly after a violent upheaval shall take place in the land, a golden radiance shall be bestowed upon she who...' upon Cuddled." stated Roke, wisely withholding the remainder of the prophecy. "These are the words that GreenPeas_ spoke to me in a vision."

"It's true!" said 18kss before Myortvye could object. "Roke told me this some time ago when he first heard the voice!"

"LIERS! All of you are liers! No one serves as the mouth of fate!" proclaimed Myortvye.

"Hear me now puppet ruler who has ushered in another age darkness to the land of Brawl. Indeed I am the mouth of fate and the harbinger of your fall from glory! For too long already you have afflicted those you oversee. Behold, you shall afflict one person too many! On a siege of command, he sat in a council. Beware, for he shall be your downfall!"

"WHAT?!" exclaimed Myortvye. "HOW DARE YOU SPEAK THUSLY TO ME! ALL OF YOU, REMOVE THIS MADMAN AT ONCE! I COMMAND IT!" he screamed, looking left and right to those who sat at the table.

However, when he returned his gaze to where the great sage stood, he saw him no more, neither did any of the Gifted Ones behold his presence again any time soon.

"What devilry is thi..." began Myortvye.

"Fate has spoken." boomed Chaploo, rising from his seat. "And fate has chosen Cuddle to restore the Order."

And from that day onward, Cuddle served as the mediator for the Order. Calming complaints and quelling arguments, she grew both in power and wisdom, just as Roke had when he first attained his golden aura. No longer bound to a specific region, her and Roke were once again able to be together without danger.

Time went on, and the chaos ushered in by the consolidation of the land of McPvP slowly decreased. However, Myortvye only grew all the more dreadful as paranoia from GreenPeas_' words set in. Perhaps to boost his morale, he took the title Brittan, which means supreme majesty in the foul language of his dark tomes.

Precisely three months and one day from the time that Cuddle recieved her gold aura, Roke and Cuddle walked along the border of a new region dedicated to those who hailed from McPvP. As they walked, Roke spoke to Cuddle of the sayings of GreenPeas_ and his prophetic utterances regarding the two of them. All seemed usual until Roke espied a most ugly and terrible sight.

"Good lord, what in the name of all things good has befallen this poor soul?" Roke softly spoke.

Prostrate on the ground before them lay a bloodied and beaten figure.

"... Why? What cruelty could have possessed the person who did this?" spoke Cuddle.

"That's the least of our concerns now Cuddle." spoke Roke as he knelt beside the body. "As absurd as it seems, this man is alive! Quickly, help me take him to my quarters. I know your skill in healing in unsurpassed. When he recovers, perhaps we can learn how this atrocity was allowed to happen."

Thus, the twosome brought the man back to Roke's quarters. Cuddle cared for him while Roke left to obtain more medical supplies. As Cuddle cleaned his wounds, the man woke with violent start, panting and gasping for breath.

    "MERCY!" He screamed.

"Please sir, be still! You are not well! You simply must not exert yourself so!" cried Cuddle.

Still sitting the man turned to Cuddle and rubbed his eyes as though attempting to ensure that who he beheld was truly present.

"...C..Cuddle? Is that really you? H..how did you find me?" asked the man.

But Cuddle merely stared at the man, tears in her eyes, for she recognized him as one of the Gifted Ones from McPvP: Nohox. A sudden dread overtook her, as she realized who was most likely responsible for the heinous deed.

Upon Roke's return, he found Cuddle standing outside of his quarters, a grim look on her face.

"What? He hasn't passed has he?"

"No. Though his wounds are grievous, he still takes breath."

"Then what is it that mars your face with such a frown Cuddle?"

"Oh Roke, it's Nohox! It's Nohox that was subjected to such abuse!"

"...No. It can't be. Why would anyone..."

"Roke, he told me what happened to him. It was Myo.. no, Brittan. The monster had him beaten and flogged!"

At these words, a darkness seemed to fall over Roke's face.

"For what cause?" he asked in a grave tone.

"Nohox invited a few poor beggars in need of food into an unused room of the Order's building so he could feed them. You know how Brittan is when it comes to inviting the people into the Order's building."

"... Alas, is this how the Order rewards generosity?" replied Roke sadly. "He is of McPvP. Should word of this reach the people, all hell would break loose."

"Roke, that is not the end of it. Word has already reached the people. In fact, it was announced to them."

    "WHAT?!"

"Brittan had Nohox publically banished from the Order! All of this was public!"

"... Usually I would have felt that this was a bad thing, yet somehow..."

"WHAT?!" exclaimed Cuddle in horror. "Of course it's a bad thing! Did you see Nohox's wounds? Thi.."

"No, not what happened to Nohox. No one should have to endure such cruelty. I was speaking of the fact that this was done publically."

"It makes no difference! Do you have any idea what this means? The people are in a state of uproar!"

"Yes, I know. But maybe that is precisely what needs to happen. The people see him as a martyr. Brittan has overstepped his bounds this time. He showed his true colors for all to see. If we could channel the energy of the people and secure the support of the other Gifted Ones, perhaps we could put an end to this madness!"

Cuddle stood speechless for a moment, but then regained her voice with fervor.

"Roke, are you insane?! War is not the way to solve this! Brittan has Chaploo on his side! We wouldn't stand a chance! No, we must try to calm the people before this gets out of hand and..."

"It already is out of hand! You know the people of McPvP! There will be no calming them! Either they will revolt without our support or they will revolt with it! Either way, there will be a revolt!"

"... Roke, do you really think that this is the best course of action? Imagine the casualties..."

"... I know. It's a terrible decision that faces us. But Brittan and Chaploo can't kill us all. Even they can't fight against the combined might of the entire kingdom. I doubt any will side with them after all they have done."

"... Then I am with you friend. For better or for worse."

For the first time in a long time, Roke smiled.

"I'm glad to have you by my side. I'll bring this to the attention of the other Gifted Ones. You take this to the people."

"It will be as you say friend. Good luck Roke!"

And so it was the Roke and Cuddle gathered their support. So great was it, that in one days time, they already had enough to march against Brittan and Chaploo. The very next day after the finding of Nohox, they stood at arms outside of the Order's building with an army constantly growing in numbers as the morning progressed. With this army at their backs, even the allegedly impenetrable citadel of the Gifted Ones fell. With the help of Putty and others who then possessed the red aura, Chaploo was once again sealed in the void, unable to roam the land in physical form. Brittan suffered defeat as well, though not total. Without Chaploo, his red aura faded and his green aura returned. When he saw his power fade, he barricaded himself in his study for 24 days until what little supplies he had ran out and the need for food and water forced him to surrender. The very day he emerged, he was banished from the Order after which he fled the land, lest the people themselves bring greater punishment upon him. Thus did Roke and Cuddle restore order to the land of Brawl. And for the most part, order and peace has reigned ever since then. Roke and Cuddle have since continued to serve the people they love and have recently grown so mighty that they both have attained the powerful red aura. And so they shall both continue to serve the people until fate dictates otherwise.
