'So, who are you exactly?' was the first thing I heard from the man as he walked into the room. I had been sitting here for over 10 minutes, and was beginning to get nervous. 'Pat_The_Trick...'
'Nice name, I'm ChatroFerno. I see you had a little... 'Stumble' with some of our military officers.' Came the instant reply.
'Thank god!' I shouted, 'When I saw the tactical gear the people I saw were wearing, I thought they must be the army, but I wasn't sure -'
'I don't care, you've killed 3 of my soldiers and 2 of my senior officials, and I have little time for people in my way.
'But you're the military, why would you kill me? You're supposed to be rescuing us from the infection!' I stuttered breathlessy. My throat was dry and my heart rate was quickening. ChatroFerno gave me a look that looked confused, but it disappeared in seconds and was replaced by a smile, spreading from ear to ear. 'Oh no, no no! That's not what I meant, just be more careful in future. Now tell me,' he quickly continued, 'What's your story? How did you escape the infected, whilst so many others lost there lives? I want every single detail.' I was getting more and more confused by the second - why would the military want to know all this? 'Well, I can't remember much when it all started, and to be honest I wouldn't like to anyway. Is that okay?'
'It's absolutely fine,' he said, 'just begin.'
I changed my position on the chair. This was going to take a lonnggggg time to explain.

It was 10:00 PM. I was sitting on the couch, with my legs being engulfed in the comforting feel of the foot rest in front of me.
'Barnaby's Apple Cider, now available at a store near you!
16+, terms and conditions apply. Please drink responsibly.' Came the constant blare from the TV. It was Winter, so dark had come quickly tonight. Just as I was drifting off, I heard a scream. I jolted up out of my seat and jumped to my feet, before running to my .357 Magnum on the shelf by my door. Cautiously, I walked to the door and opened it. Instantly I saw my neighbour being dragged into the darkness by a man in dark clothes, whispering into her ear. 'Get away from her, you good for nothing idiot!' I shouted. The man's head snapped up, and I saw his eyes glistening in the moon. Even in the darkness, I could see the bloodshot texture of them. His arm was covered in a red substance, and I only dared to think what it was. 'You monster!' I screeched as he released my neighbour and began sprinting towards me. BANG!!! I shot him in the stomach, but he continued on. BANG, BANG!!! I fired 2 consecutive shots and watched as his body hopelessly collapsed onto the floor. As I got my breath back, I slowly walked towards my neighbour, keeping a close eye on the man's limp body. I crouched down and felt for her pulse. It was still going, but very weak... But as I kept my finger on her wrist, strangely I noticed that it was getting stronger. I leant her head towards me and turned around and was sick. The side of her head, where I thought the man was whispering to her, had a bloody hole, reaching to her brain. I then realised my worst nightmare. Her other arm was grabbing on onto the grass next to her and pushing herself up. 'She's dead, how?' I said aloud. I turned around and stepped back, just in time to see the man, her killer, raising to his feet. And then I saw everything clearly. He had a massive gash in the centre of his chest, and a massive gauge in the back of his head. His arm was drenched in blood, and he was limping towards me. It was then that I realised what he was, and how he was alive - He was a Zombie. A heartless, brainless zombie. I fired a shot, hitting him directly in the head. It's skull shattered into hundreds of pieces. I ran inside my house and locked the door, ran to my sink and was sick. Again.

Thanks for reading part 1 of my piece of literature - WarZ.

    This is an awesome story!

    - Loved the beginning and the flashback to how things mysteriously started. Has the makings of a great story with flashbacks, intrigue, and of zombies!

Can't wait to see the rest!

PS - Never trust the military in an Apocolypse....
