Returning player to this server with questions

Unfortunately, McPvP was unable to make a profit so had to be shut down. They sold the majority of the servers (HG, CTF and Build were sold to Brawl, along with the domain name), but most are still playable (there are sabotage, maze runner, siege, kitpvp .etc that have been bought/remade).

1. Yeah... there was a bit of drama regarding a popular staff member getting 'falsely' demoted causing over 50% of the players to leave a few years ago, and since then, McPvP started dying. A lot of players from McPvP were upset with Brawl as we weren't able to release HG the very instant we received it, so it got an even bigger drop in players. Now, at peak times, HG can hit 40 players per game on a good day. Due to a few mistakes McPvP made (such as adding over 100 kits), it is not noob-friendly so its player counts have not increased. Currently, our developer is working on another upcoming gamemode, but once that gamemode is released HG will have a dev again and more updates can come, hopefully increasing the playercounts. Regarding the long waiting time - it was implemented in attempt to increase playercounts per game.
2. I believe the kits change more frequently now. There is a new rotation at the start of every month. I can't remember exactly how many kits were in the rotation, but now there are 4 free kits, an additional 3 kits for retro VIP and an additional 5 kits for retro MVP. Retro ELITE (this is Brawl's equivalent to PRO) still gets every single kit.

In short, no: its already taken a big drop in players, but its getting a steady amount of players now. McPvP has slowly died since 2012, and ever since it has came to Brawl, the dying has stopped. CTF also lost a lot of players as members of the community complained a lot, so the higher-ups at McPvP refused to give them any major updates for 2 years.

I feel as if communication between players and staff definitely needs improvement. I'm currently on holiday, but once I return I'll be doing stuff such as actually responding to suggestions on the forums, talking directly to some players (both regulars and newer players) and basing ideas off of their responses. I'm a relatively new staff member and as a player, I felt like our opinions weren't getting heard. We are trying to listen, but the higher up staff (SMods and Admins) have a lot of responsibilities on Brawl so won't have time to speak to players directly, whereas I have a lot more time to invest into this.

I've played a few of these, and there's one big thing that I dislike about all of them (other than one, but its not public yet) - they're going backwards. They're attempting to bring back the 120 player games and thousands of players on a single gamemode like how McPvP was in 2012 by bringing back the state HG was in during this time, not realising the new player base is a lot younger, and the player base who used to be interested in HG have generally moved on.

Agreed. Servers like this are so much bigger than other servers meaning they have little competition, specifically Hypixel. Before it was the most popular server and was competing with Mineplex, they were releasing updates more frequently. Now, updates have started to slow down as there is not as big of a need to release them so quickly.

Personally, I think this is the best time to join. Right now, we don't have a developer to work on anything major for HG. However, as soon as we do, changes are coming.
