Speed Hackers

    I thought it's high time we have here on the forums a thread to discuss the worst thing that has ever happened to WarZ: Speed hackers with aimbot

    As a WarZ player I see a lot of speed hackers, although it's just a handful of people I believe, always hacking on alts. And these speed hackers are really the ones who make you want to throw your keyboard. You used to get Zaniac blinking people at gas, but blink is much easier to defend against and there's a simple solution: don't go to gas. Same goes for Dean's team, X-Raying people in Sniper Tower. Just don't go to Sniper Tower if they're in there.

    But speed hackers, man. They get you anywhere. They're absolutely deadly, it's near impossible to fight back against one who knows what they're doing. So I was thinking; perhaps we should compile a list of tips and ideas for how to avoid speed hackers and how the staff team can better help us against them.

    • On WarZ, but mainly Servers 1 and 2, if a random white name asks "where" like he wants to fight, don't answer him. More than half the time it'll be a speed hackers and he'll be at your location in less than a minute.
    • If you see one and you're outside but you're in a town, get on a roof! They can't speed hack on to roofs. I suppose they could use a different hacked client or just grapple up, but it's a better defense than none and it's worked for me.
    • OR get in a tiny building/room. These hackers' ability to speed around and aimbot you makes little difference if you're camping in, say, the tiny basement room at Z6 Snow on the new map.
    • Staff team: I don't know how easy this would be to code, but you have a macros warning right? "This player has 10 CPS". Could you do the same for movement? "This player is moving at 50 blocks a second. Probable speed hacks!" Of course a staff member would spectate to see they weren't just using grapples.
    • Staff team: Some telltale signs that you can probably ban off. If you see one or a group of white names that someone has reported for speed hacks and they have a bunch of diamond and they're in the middle of nowhere, probably not speed hacking cause they know a staff member is on: ban em. I can guarantee you 99/100 that if a random white name we've never seen before who's just been accused of speed hacks, has a bunch of diamond.... they're a hacker. Another telltale sign is storing loot on an alt. This is what Zaniac always did and why it was so infuriating that even when we banned one of his accounts, he had all this stuff on an alt.
    • Perhaps there should be some kind of command: /idk. Couldn't think what it would be called. But basically, if there's a lot of circumstantial evidence for a player being a speed hacker, a staff member can /idk and that hacker can no longer do /logout. The staff member says this to them and if they PvPLog, the staff member can kill it and give the loot to a deserving player. If they don't, the staff member can ask questions like: "who did you kill to get this diamond" "are you new?" "Whose alt are you". If you can trip them up in a lie, they're again, probably a hacker. Like for example if they claim to be noobs who just looted the diamond and don't know how to play but their inventory and hot bar are perfectly setup like an experienced player who knows how to combo; probably hacking.
    So yeah that's my list so far, hopefully the community can add to it. So let's make Servers 1 and 2 a great place to play WarZ again, and not a place where you have to be afraid of white names.

    I have found it quite easy to kill them as long as their armor isnt to good. Just spam spas and ak and they'll be easy to kill.

    Maybe you're not fighting good speed hackers. The speed hackers I'm talking about can kill you by Ak-spraying you in the air from 30 blocks as they run circles around you. It's impossible.

    Yes warz is dead, the point of this post is to tell mods how serious this problem is, yes i think they realize how big this problem is but the thing is they never do anything about it. Theres no point in saying warz is dead shut up already, we need to revive warz thats what we need to do. FindingMemo is right its so hard to kill the speed hackers that actually know how to hack not those wanna be hackers.

    I can try to assist more when I get my computer back, as this one is barely sufficient for watching YouTube at times. As for your suggestions for players, I suggest that other people follow these suggestions, as they are very helpful in terms of dealing with these hackers.

    What you are saying about the speed hacks. They are actually blocked by the anti cheat if I am correct, which is why you never see timer anymore, and simply just Bhop hacks. I do however agree that there should be a way of remedying this, such as if a player travels "x" blocks in a speed faster than that of which can be obtained by sprint jumping. (The x of course accounting for the speed in which you are propelled by the grapples.

    And pertaining to the command that you suggested should be put in place to help eliminate the speed hackers after they kill someone. There are many flaws as to what you have suggested. The first one being how easily this can be abused. A staff member does not know if the person who was targeted by this command was actually hacking, all they know is what the report said. If someone wins a fight against a massive toxic team, they is a 110% chance that they will be reported. If this player needs to exit the game after this fight, but is confronted by the staff member, what can they do? All the staff member knows is this was a player who was reported for using speed hacks by multiple people, and now he wants to log off. Anyone sensible would agree that this would seem at least somewhat suspicious. That, and without the clear video evidence of this person hacking, there is no way to tell if they actually were hacking. Leaving them frozen while a staff member asks them questions that will inevitably lead to them not being banned.

    tl;dr
    Really the command you propose I feel is flawed, and too easy to abuse. I believe that there should be a more comprehensive anti cheat designed specifically to disallow the use of these cheats.

    Mods should be able to ban people without the need of recording them hacking, or giving proof to higher staff members.

    They shouldn't be able to ban for lifetime without evidence. What if they could ban a player for ~ 24h without evidence?

    NoCheatPlus can block speed types, but it's a bunch of lengthy configuration editing and work you have to do to get it to do so. Speed Hacks (most common are yPort, Bhop, and Lowhop aka Minihop) are made to make the server think you're jumping while sprinting, giving you a speed boost. I'd go into extent on how certain speed hacks work but it's a bunch of work and I don't need leechers asking me how to make them.

    I might record a video showing different examples of speed hacks and what they look like, so you guys will know how to tell the difference.


    In case not many people knew, in the hacking community, client developers will ALWAYS find a way to bypass something if it is blocked by an anticheat.

    For example, some clients have hacks that are specifically made to bypass the AAC anticheat. I'm not naming them, but the hacks are usually like AAC-Hop (a bhop bypass for AAC) or an AAC mode for Kill Aura (either doesnt hit the invisible entities or uses ticks)

    the problem is that the staff members are never online sometimes and i suggest to brawl that brawl has to accept more staff applucations for warz. and brawl should care about warz too not only war and other game modes.
