Chapter 1
A Sheriff Perspective ​

It was in the morning when it began. We were sitting around our table drinking coffee when the news came in. The boy that brought the news was huffing and puffing. He looked scared, but confident we could handle the job. He stuttered, "Th-they're back. And not just the three. It's a lot of them." Sheriff Verlyn took a sip of coffee. Then said, "Where?" The boy replied, "The Wildgrass processor. They killed thirteen more last night."

Gehenna rubbed his head. "Do we really need to go get them? I'm tired, and raiding the Indians sounds so much more fun today. Why don't we go at that? They've been needing a beat back."

random spoke up and said, "Yes, we need to get them. They have far too much freedom, and just killing as they go. We need to get the team back together."

The boy left, and the 3 sheriffs in the room kept talking. Gehenna pulled out some research on the specific bandits that were giving them trouble. "There have been multiple sightings. Before this, the last was 15 miles due West of here; at the wildgrass field three nights ago. We've been trying to pin down their hideout, but we are starting to think they move as they go."

Verlyn said, "The last time I saw them there was only 3 of them. But they seem to increase as they become more known. We have to go at them all together. That means call in reinforcements."

Galaxy was sitting on the couch listening to the radio. He, Dark, and 18 were waiting to here when, and where they were needed. 18 said, "I'm betting we'll be needed up north. Frisco is full of bandits." The radio announcer said, "We're hearing of sightings of a group who call themselves clap. Up near Frisco, they've been terrorizing people and their families. Thirteen more deaths were reported last night."

"New it. Let's go." The three went to suit up. They put on jeans, a leather jacket, and a cowboy hat with leather boots. Next, they put a holster on their hip, and two across their back. All three guns were slid in, fully loaded and ready to fire. They then each grabbed a pair of handcuffs, and clipped them to their belt. They put a ticket book in their back pocket, and headed out the door. Dark was the slowest to come out because he wanted to grab a few more cookies for the road.

They went out to their stable and grabbed their fastest horses. The saddled, and galaxy said, "We ride north. Hopefully we get there by nightfall."

Gehenna, Verlyn, and random were already starting in action. They all got ready, and headed toward the processor. On their way, they met a familiar face, charlotte. She said, "What are you guys doing? I wanted to finish my checkers game. This guy is quite interesting, considering he's a bandit."

Gehenna replied, "No times for fun and games. We have a real problem here. Thirteen more dead last night. C'mon, let's go." She prepared quite quickly, and continued on with them. Their journey was more or less exciting. On their way, they met Indians, miners, and some friendly cows. All of the people they met were happy to see them, considering they were the last hope for survival in the Wild West.

They stopped for the night near a river, about 3 miles out of the processor. They met some familiar faces. The three from Shaniko had arrived. "I'm hungry," Dark said. "Do you have any meat?" "No. We need to make a plan for when we show up tomorrow. They'll be ready like they always are. We need to split up. Going in and surrounding them is better than all getting shot through one doorway," random said. "Agreed. We need to be stealth, quick, and strong. We better get some sleep so we are well rested. I can imagine that we won't be sleeping for a few days. Tracking these kind of people is really tedious," Verlyn said.

They all slept. In the morning, 18 was gone. "Hey, does anyone know where 18 went?" Dark said. The six remaining looked at each other. They freaked out. "Wait, does that mean he.. died?" charlotte said.

"No. Look here," They all looked over at Gehenna. "Someone left a note. I'll read it to you guys. Hello. This isn't in 18's handwriting. I'm sure you all are wondering what has happened to your leader. This is the leader of the druglords. My name is Joker. I have taken your friend captive. If you want to see him again, I'd suggest leaving. If you attack us, he dies." Everyone looked at each other. "What do we do?" Dark asked. Everyone looked at random. "We are going to attack them at mid-day."
