    Hello Brawlers,

Recently we got frequent reports from Junior Moderators about players who keep on breaking minor chat rules and don't change their behaviour even though they sometimes have dozens of punishments. A system with constantly increasing punishments is hard to implement because of alternate accounts and punishments given by different staff members, so we decided to invent a punishment limit. This new protocol was enforced too quickly which was my fault for not thinking it through beforehand, but now have discussed the protocol again and we believe we covered any issues occuring with it.

The protocol for Continuous Rule Violations is as follows:
If a player has a total of 40 (changed to 30) or more punishments (kicks, mutes, bans) within the last 8 months, no matter for which rule violation, they will be banned permanently upon the next rule violation. False, requested and duplicate punishments, punishments which were lifted because of a purchase, automatic bans and CTF match kicks do not count.

We reserve the right to ban permanently for a lower amount of rule violations if the rule violations were more severe (threats, major chat offenses).

    Further details and clarifications:
    • If a player was banned for Continuous Rule Violations before and either purchased an unban or appealed the ban, they may be banned again after only 10 more rule violations of any kind.
    • Bans for Continuous Rule Violations will not be lifted within less than 3 months unless they are false.
    • Punishments across alternate accounts do not add up (Bans for Continuous Rule Violations still count towards the total of 3 bans across accounts).

This new protocol will come into effect in two weeks, on October 20th 2016.

This means anyone who has 40 (changed to 30) or more punishments and violates the rules again once the protocol is in effect will be banned.

We hope this protocol will help to get rid of notorious rule breakers, make the community a better place and the job of our staff members easier.

This thread will be locked when the protocol comes into effect; until then you can ask questions below.

I'm glad this rule will finally be implemented, it will stop a lot of bullying and threatening on the server which will light up some stress of some members.

Nice to see this added. Too many people are getting away with constant rule violations. They get muted, and then as soon as they are unmuted, they start flaming, swearing, death threats etc. again. People never learn :/

I feel like giving people who have the possibility of being banned from this one and only one chance is a bit too harsh. Perhaps two or three additional mutes to their current history?

With this they should also tone down the rules a bit because rn you can get muted for pretty much anything

They had literally 40 warnings, that should be by far enough. Giving multiple chances will make this system very inefficient.

You don't just get muted; you are first warned if a staff member is monitoring the chat. On top of that, after 40 punishments you should know what is against the rules.

What if you have 40+ bans, kicks, or mutes before this takes place. Like in 2 weeks, will you get banned or something?

Even some of the more mature players sometimes get muted with or without fair reason. Two mutes seems fair to me.

I disagree. 40 rule violations in any time period makes it quite clear what the person is like, and Brawl and Brawl's community do not want/tolerate these kind of players.

I constantly see KitBrawl players hackusate and flame, for instance _Merehovec_, and after their mute has expired they say something like "lol i was muted" and continue the same behaviour with no regrets.

In my 4 years of playing Brawl I have never been muted and I don't feel like I have to "work hard for it".

Spoiler: The mutes in my history are my requests (excluding a deathwish mute when I accidentally typed "hi 19kys" instead of "hi 19kss") because I was getting spammed questions from fans and wanted to be unable to answer them.

    40+ mutes doesn't mean you're mature.

How strict are you enforcing this 'last warning'?
What I mean by this is if someone that has 0ver 40 mutes gets muted for something small like caps or hackusating would they still be banned? If so I feel that that might be a bit harsh

As already said, 40+ mutes in 8 months shows that you do not deserve to play on Brawl.

How do you accidentally type 19kys.. hue

I agree with you on that, but players can change, as I see joker has been changing lately, and a mute for something petty like caps (IMO) would not warrant a permanent ban.

No a few mutes of caps wouldn't affect you too much. But if you've gotten muted over 40 times before, then it really doesn't matter if they havent been muted for a week or two. They just don't deserve it.

    Too late for what exactly?

xD the S key is not only very far from the Y key, but you would think if you're trying to type 19kss, you would just double tap the S key. lol..
