Video Games Severe fps drop after recent Windows 10 update?

Yes, I opened all of the spoilers. No regrets.

 

My FPS actually increased after the Windows 10 update, but try verifying the game cache, re-install CSGO, and in all of that fails you could lower your resolution or just revert back to 8.

 

Could you show us how you fixed it so if anyone has the issue they could refer to this thread for help?

 

Same thing has happened to me when I updated to windows 10. My fps dropped on everything, browsers, games even small photos took a long time to update. Must be the specs that you use idk.
I've reset my computer because of how bad it got, now its windows 8 and I get a solid 340-380fps on minecraft forge with 7 mods.

 

380 FPS is useless.

A - The majority of people can process a maximum of 200 fps, past that the brain doesn't see any differences
B - Most computer monitors have a screen refresh rate of 60, meaning that even if your MC is outputting 380 fps to the monitor, your monitor only displays at 60 - This is not true for all monitors of course, but for the majority, they cap at 60.

 

Weren't people saying only about a year ago 60fps was the brain's limit? idkk
Fps does matter, 380fps on minecraft kind of means nothing your right. but mentioning that I get a decent amount fps on minecraft means that I get average fps on other games, like gta, csgo, rust ark and all those kind of games.
And, on my computer I can change the monitor refresh rate to (60 120 180 240 300 360 hertz) from the buttons on my monitor.

 

Yes, I can see it was for demonstrating that you got good fps. I'm astonished your monitor supports >240Hz, I've never seen that before. What computer & monitor do you have?

 

To be honest I have no idea, I only got it for $100 from a guy who had no idea what he was doing lmao.

 

Actually, 380fps isn't useless.
Lots of computer **** that I find hard to understand but 3kliksphilip has a great video on it.
It's basically showing the reason that 144hz monitors work the way they do. Your frames that your game creates and the monitors frames have to sync up, and they do so by letting the monitor picking the last frame showed before it made its own frame. Then, it uses that frame. If your computer generates more frames, there will be a higher chance that the PC frame is closer to the monitors frame, therefore decreasing visual lag, or frame latency.

But yes, it's fine with even 60fps.
And I may just sound like a privileged ***got, but I have a 144hz monitor and there is a VERY noticeable difference from 60fps to 144fps.
Anything below 60 is hard to play on though.

 

Yeah, the same happened for me. I went from 40 to 80 fps...

 

My Laptop is not that amazing, but I still get like 120-150 fps on windows 10 with optifine installed. I dont understand why you have this problem. What are the specs of your computer?

 

Loool. Ok first of all. 340hz monitors do not exist. The highest refresh rate monitor out there currently is 240hz. Plus those are not even close to 100$ they are at least 300 bucks or so new. Also higher framerates over 200 are not useless at all. If you know what screen tearing is, it's when your monitor refresh rate and CPU refresh are un sinked, causing a tearing effect in your monitor making the game not as enjoyable and smooth. This happens when usually when your framerate is above your refresh rate, however, from my personal experience, once you reach a certain framerate, like 20 or so, the screen tearing is basically nonexistent, I cannot tell the difference between my friends G sync monitor and my monitor.
