It’s apparent to all of us that Brawl is crumbling. Players are leaving, games are dying…staff are resigning. We’ve had server resources go into new games like Wild West that turned to have a very unfortunate mortality rate.

But I don’t think Brawl is hopeless.

I’ve seen a lot of other players suggesting this to improve the servers. Stuff like, ‘advertising’, paying youtubers and all that. But my ideas are quite different from that. I don’t believe that we can afford the attention, or even deserve the attention.

I might be being disrespectful, but I simply don’t think reworking Raid, or Wildwest will save Brawl, for the simple reason that games like Raid and Wildwest require large playerbases to work. Brawl doesn’t have that.

Most of the players are in the build servers, and raid is almost always empty. The less players inside these games, the less likely people are to play them, simply because they are PvP-based open world gamemodes that lack the competition aspect. Like, what’s the point of getting god gear if there’s no-one to kill.

What I believe is that Brawl should be working on bringing new content, such as innovative minigames, instead of jumping straight to the big, open world minigames that have no value unless there’s actually a population.

    SO WHAT’S MY IDEA?

A new gamemode. A new minigame non-open world gamemode that will work with a small playerbase, that can host things like cosmetics that Brawl can live off. A gamemode that allows customization, shops so players have something to progress towards.

And what could this gamemode be?

    ZOMBIES.

My idea has already been suggested a bunch of times before by existing players. But I feel as if those people wanted their idea to happen without thinking about how the development process will go, how the game will work. They focus on too many details like ‘OH THESE PLAYERS WILL SPAWN WITH THIS AMOUNT OF GRENADES AND THIS EXACT WEAPON AND OH OH WE SHOULD HAVE THINGS LIKE THIS PERK BECAUSE ITS IN THE REAL GAME’.

I’m not here to do that. I’m here to design the details. I’m undead serious about ‘zombies’ and here’s why I think it would work.

    1. IT'S ORIGINAL

Sure, there have been so many servers that have attempted to make a Gun-based zombie survival, but none of them have actually executed it well. From what I've seen, they've been very lazily executed. For example. the zombies spawn on top of players, instead of the authentic CoD barricade system when zombies spawn outside the map. Overall the maps in other zombie servers are outright horrible.

And they simply lack the mechanics and depth of a pure zombie-survival experience, such has having gun shops. If we have a strong, original gamemode, that will give Brawl and identity that minecraft players will recognize, just like how ‘Wy**craft is the big MMORPG server’, It will be ‘Brawl is the big zombie-survival server’.

But why will players want to play Brawl’s zombie server if CoD already has it? The reason that minecraft hosts gamemodes like MMORPG’s and survival games despite real game companies doing it twenty times better is because – customization.

Minecraft is popular because it can be customized. What this means for Zombies is that we can make maps that the real CoD hasn’t thought of doing. We can script our own events, easter eggs for people to discover, even make our own guns. It’s very flexible to audience preferences.

Basically, we aren’t copying the gamemode, we are augmenting it, offering our own take on it - adding original features that in order for players to experience, they must play on Brawl.

    2. IT WORKS WITH ‘BRAWL’--------------------------------

Brawl has always been about incorporating guns into classic gamemodes. Mc-War has always been Brawl’s icon before MCPVP was merged with it. MC-War did the gun thing before any other server. I believe ‘guns’ should remain the icon of Brawl.

A zombie, unlike Raid, or Wildwest, is a gamemode that doesn’t require a huge playerbase to function. Games like Raid require a large playerbase in order for the game to have meaning. No players will be motivated to play if there’s ‘no-one to raid’. Building a massive base and having God loot doesn’t mean anything if there’s no players to compete against.

Zombies, on the other hand, will only require 4. I know it sounds very server-inefficient, but right now, with all those vacant servers like creative, I think Brawl can afford it. The low player cost also works very well with Brawl’s small playerbase to ensure that there are always games running. And the more players that play Zombies, the more value it will have.

Overall, the idea just simply works with Brawl, although it’s not PvP, it’s challenging and gun-based, and also the fact that unlike Raid, Zombies does not require a huge playerbase.

    3. IT WILL ATTRACT ATTENTION--------------------------------

If the idea is executed as I imagine, then it will definitely be something no server has attempted and succeeded before. And because it’s original, attention will come to us.

The fact is, even If we get youtubers to advertise Brawl in its current state, there will be nothing for them to do.

Everything simply feels outmatched by what all the other ‘big servers’ have. Youtubers will be less likely to agree to play something that isn’t new. And if we do a really good job, youtubers will come to us, instead of us having to hire them.

But it’s not just youtubers. Because Zombies requires such a low player count in a single game, it will motivate the current players to bring friends along. And it will be the players themselves that spread the word.

    4. IT OPENS FINANCIAL OPPORTUNITIES--------------------------------

The ideas I have right now involve what a lot of servers are thriving off – 3D model based gamemodes. This means that we can import gun models on to existing textures (they don’t even have to be tools, they can be blocks, or even potatoes) and code guns based of those. Therefore, we can have almost an infinite amount of guns.

What does this mean? It means we can allow a lot of customization, and cosmetics – gun camos, model variants, tracers. All that good stuff. The thing is, lobby gadgets simply don’t work with our server currently. Stuff like ‘particle effects’ won’t get people buying.

If you haven’t been paying attention, cosmetics is how servers have been keeping alive. Servers like Wy**craft and Hy*****l have been doing this very well, with stuff like 3D models.

Bottom line is, 3D Model Guns = Customization, and Customization = Cosmetics = Eula-Friendly products on the Brawl store.

Eula-Friendly Products + Valuable products = People buying ranks.

WHAT WE NEED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN?--------------------------------

    >DEVELOPERS*** – It should go without saying that developers are fundamental in making any minigame happen. The developers will be handling a lot of weapon mechanics, map-changing mechanics (such as doors and barricades), broadcasts, messages, the gun-store and the list continues infinitely. This is the main reason I writing this thread, is that the real factor that will determine if this idea happens or not is whether or not the developers like it, and are capable of executing it.

    >BUILDERS – We will need builders to make the maps. And I don’t mean in the state of the build team right now. Brawl needs a co-ordinated build team, that works together in achieving a goal, instead of each person doing their own thing. The map design will require thought in not only looks, but in gameplay. Now getting builders isn’t as important in getting 3D modelers or Developers, because I consider myself quite experienced and I can build your maps for free, if you decide to go with my ideas.

    >3D MODELERS** – We will require a texture-pack team to design all the guns. I know this can be very very difficult, so I suggest employing people that know how to convert already existing 3D files into minecraft models to be placed in the texture pack, instead of making models from scratch (because there will be A LOT of guns to make).

If this project is to happen, 3D modelers will be key to take it levels ahead of what other servers have, because we won’t attract any attention having the game go off with paper pixel models.

    >SOUND DESIGNERS* – Like how we can’t make the game with paper-pixel guns, we can’t have the guns sound like pistons either. We will need a team that knows how to import sounds in resource packs, and make it sound realistic too. This isn’t only for the firing of weapons, but zombies, custom voices and sounds will also be important if we are to make this as good as it can be.

    >THE PEASANTS – This means all YOU people reading this. If we are to make this happen, we will need your input. We will need you to test what we have, use you as expendable cannon fodder to find game-breaking bugs, and to get you to spread the word.

But your one true MOST IMPORTANT job to like and comment and bump on this thread so it actually reaches the eyes of the administrators and developers so we can make this game happen!

Because at the end of the day, I’m not an immature who simply wants their ideas to come to life without putting much thought and effort into it. I HAVE put a lot of thought into it, considered if it will actually help make Brawl great again… how the game will work… and so on.

    CONCLUSION--------------------------------

I will be happy to assist Brawl in making this happen, for the benefit for both of us.

And to kickstart this project, I will need direct contact with the developers. Once again, I’m not some twelve year old fanboy who wants to feel special about talking to staff. I am actually going to invest.

Although Brawl is dying, the server still has professional and very capable developers, which is what we mainly need. With a bit of co-ordination and teamwork, I believe it shouldn't be hard top pull off. Of course, this will be a massive project that might take months, but better start when Brawl still has a playerbase.

And to afford contact with the developers, I need all you readers to make this thread BIG.

If Chap really is going to pour all his resources in Warz and war 2.0 I just hope he does a good job because he's sacrificing other opportunities.'

I mean even If it does turn out to be cool and all, Idk if it will attract any players or youtubers

First of all: You are not supposed to know that.
Second: This was messaged to one developer, not all of them.

    It's really sad too.
Because right now it's pretty much impossible to start big servers from scratch

Brawl has all these resources and yet they aren't going to where they could be

Let's not get off topic, please.

@MidnightDawn honestly, I really like this idea. I've had an idea of a zombie based gamemode for a while, but it was in teams and would've required more players to pull off, but this idea would be executed so much better than mine. I'm sent it to one of the admins - I really hope this gets somewhere.

    Thank you for your feedback!

Honestly though, the main idea isn't very complicated. It's the same thing as CoD zombies in terms of concept.

Right now I feel like that's the biggest flaw in all the other servers that do this sort of Mob Arena is that they got the concept down, but not the details. The reason why CoD zombies is really fun is because of the details - the scripted events, the parts of the map you can unlock. Like, it's not as simple as survive for long as you can - there's a sense of storytelling too.

All I know is that it's not impossible in terms of Minecraft limitations.

I like your idea but as stated above
Which dev? Also paying your coder costs money, and i think the last thing brawl wants too do right now is spend 2 much money on bigger projects.

Also what would get players interested? Slither didn't work so what would make this work :/

Brawl is going to lose money no matter how you put it, understand? Of course paying a coder costs money, but as long as you're not earning money off the server, it's going to cost money either way. And it's not like Brawl doesn't have coders available - who coded wild west? The last thing the server wants to do right now is spend too much money on larger projects?

And what would get players interested in a WarZ or War 2.0 rework? I gave you ample reasons why this would be healthy for brawl. Slither didn't make it because it was less than a minigame. It offered no unique gameplay from the original slither.io, no progression and no customization. Did you honestly think something like Slither would save Brawl?!

Look at the bigger servers. They are built of progression, upgrading classes, etc. Then of course slither didn't make it. This idea is completely different. It offers upgrades, progression, customization and cosmetics. If done correctly, the originality and the playstyle should be enough to get players to invest.

Brawl needs to hook players with a new game. CTF is too repetitive. WarZ or Raid is simply isn't progressive enough, at least for newer players. We need to make players feel like they are unlocking new content, like maps or weapons. Players will get too bored if what they see is all there is to see. There needs to be a discovery factor. The thing with CoD zombies, is that (unless you google the easter eggs), there's always things to discover.

Basically, it's about making a game that works similar to how games on the successful servers work - lobby shops, upgrades, etc, gun cosmetics of different rarity..etc. We need to make them feel like they are progressing towards something, and we need to make the progression process engaging.

And THAT'S why something like Zombies will be different from what slither was.

And the thing is, if the 3D model team does a good job, it won't be hard to construct a cosmetic system based off that. People will want to unlock all these special models. It's EULA-friendly, and it will encourage players to pay. It will also be compatible with the network booster system. If this is successful, it will definitely be an injection to Brawl's income.

Either you're not seeing the game how I see it, or you're not thinking deeply enough, but feedback is feedback I guess.

I don't really see an explanation of the gamemode in the thread, could you write a little tl;dr of what the gamemode is?

It's just like CoD zombies basically. Weapon shops over walls, mystery boxes. Survive for as long as you can and that sort of stuff. Again, it's the details that are going to make this fun.
I won't get into the details of the weapons but...

The point system will be the same, or similar. You get points by damaging zombies. With points, you can purchase weapons, open 'doors' (which is unlocking new areas of a map), purchase perks.

There's a lot more stuff to explore, but here's the general stuff.

THE HOTBAR: Personally, I don't like Brawl's system of having ammo stored in the inventory. I feel that's sort of disorganized. But that's not important. Basically, a player will equip two weapons in the first to slots of the hotbar. The next three slots could hold your knife, lethal and tactical. The rest of the hotbar could maybe hold Misc. items that you need for objectives.

Just so players don't start of mowing down zombies in the first few rounds, they should start off with pistol-based weapons.

ZOMBIES: Of course, the zombies involved in this game can't be the vanilla minecraft zombies. They will need to do a fair share of damage, and have a massive, map-wide tracking range. They should also be able to match the speed of players and so on...

Zombies should become progressively stronger as rounds go by.

ZOMBIE SPAWNING/BARRICADE: So it's really important that zombies don't simply spawn on top of players. Zombies should spawn in areas of the maps that aren't reachable by players, and enter the map through means inaccessible by players.

The barricade system could involve a series of blocks that zombies will attack (perhaps with a invisible villager), and the lower health the villager is, the more blocks are removed from the barricade? TBH I don't have an idea of what's possible and what's not in terms of a barrier system, but I think the Devs will find a creative way to tackle it.

DOORS SYSTEM: A 'door' would be anything that separates one area of the map from another. It can be a set of blocks that will be removed from the map once the door is purchased.

REVIVING SYSTEM: When players die, a 'corpse' will spawn. If a teammate right clicks that corpse, and stands still for a period of time, the dead player becomes revived. That's most likely how that would be done.

OBJECTIVES: It won't be exactly clear what the objectives will be to the player. Players will have to figure out themselves. For example, maybe there's a summoning altar, and to activate it, players must collect parts spread across the map. After they do that, they drop the items into the altar, it summons a boss, and killing the boss will give players a lot of credits and perhaps a weapon. Each map can have many objectives, but the point is that there's something to do instead of simply running around.

    LOBBY SHOPS:
Lobby shops should include gameplay upgrades that aren't too influential. It most likely won't involve players being able to start off with a ray gun at level one. Purchasing stuff from the shop will cost credits, which can be gained from surviving rounds, killing zombies, reviving teammates and doing objectives. The shop itself will probably invovle stuff like:

'Increase the chance of receiving a ray-gun by 20% when opening a mystery box' or

'Increase the chance of a zombie dropping a power-up by 50%' or

'Decrease the cost of wall-weapons by 10% or

'Increase the amount of misc. items your character can hold by 1'.

The in-game point system will be seperate from the credit system, of course.

Ideally, players should also have to unlock maps, like 'to unlock map Y you must survive 20 rounds on map X'

    COSMETICS:
Instead of having to simply buy cosmetics, I feel as if they should be a luck-based thing, like opening a weapon case in CSGO. Weapon cases can be gained through purchase on the brawl store (remember this IS Eula friendly because it's cosmetics), or by playing games. Inside weapon cases, there could be stuff like weapon skins of different rarities, like a blue raygun shooting blue plasma or a knife skin that looks like a lightsaber. This may also work for weapon textures and camos. Of course, the worth of this stuff will depend heavily on how good a job the 3D modelling team does.

Maybe ranked players can get like a weapon case every day for free or something.

This is basically one big brainstorm to help you get a bigger idea of what the game actually involves. If I do get to talk to the developers, there will be a lot to discuss
