I'm looking forward to it too, and while I don't expect it to be a miraculous save-all that is going to drag in an entire playerbase overnight, I do see it as a definite step in the right direction. At the very, very least it will give us existing players all a fun server to play.

A bit off-topic, but can I say that thread gave me major nostalgia? A bunch of people on this thread are from at least fall 2013. :v

Totom is a great coder, but I doubt 2.0 will reach our expectations. Not because of Totom, but we've all waited so long that the hype has just built up over time, to the point where nothing might actually be able to reach it.
In all honesty I respect @Totom3 with all the dedication and hardwork he's been putting in to make this possible and has been doing what the previous coders couldn't or were too lazy to do. I've still seen some people chat bs about 2.0 and I think at the end of the day some people just need to cut him some slack, because we can't do what Totom is doing. In the beginning I kept thinking "2.0 is gonna be complete bs", but then I kinda came to the realization that we've waited so long to give up on it now.

Indeed, it has taken far too long for 2.0 to come out. It was promised years ago, I don't appreciate how Brawl promised to do something years ago and didn't do it. I don't care what reasons they had, it shouldn't of been promised then.

It's not an opinion, it's a fact the staff said that it would come out in January 2014. There were other dates also promised, but this is the only one I currently remember. There may have been a summer one too.
