Let's face it, mob stacking sucks, but it benefits server performance greatly. Are there any ideas on how to improve this system at all? What, realistically, don't you like about it and how can we fix it? The more specific you are, the more it helps us.

My proposed ideas: - Disable / increase the stack size limit from 128
    - Make a splash potion of healing / harming destroy the whole stack ( Too OP? )
    - Named Mobs are removed from the stack and thus are unstackable

Maybe only enable mob stacking only for the mobs that it would be useful for? And disable it for mobs like villagers. Along with the ideas you listed

I thought of this as well, but what mobs would be in that list? Passive, breedable mobs definitely have to be stacked unfortunately, but I was thinking do a vote on the most popular grinding mobs ( Blaze / spiders? ). This is just my rough planning that I wanted the community to help with, I still need to forward this proposal to roke once refined.

Also, if I remember correctly, villagers don't stack anymore, as well as capturing mobs in a stack just removes one.

I don't believe potions destroying the stack is too OP - Thats how it would work if they were unstacked.
Named MOBs being removed from the stack is definitely a good idea, would allow you to keep your favourite wolf from getting stuck in the pack.

    Other ideas:
Right clicking a name-tag on a stack of MOBs 'pops' one out of the stack with that name.
As much as I would like horses and wolfs not to stack I guess its not going to happen - Is it possible to make it so there can be a max of 10 of wolfs/villages/horses in a location and then if 10 becomes 11, 2 MOBs stack together leaving 9 unstacked, and 1 stack of 2 (so basically 10 MOBs again).

Oh yeah good ideas. Not sure if they are too complicated though. I mean you could always just name all of them that you wanted to keep separated instead of having the max unstacked in an area.

Very true the 2nd idea might be a little too complex, but name-tags are not too common.... but hey, they don't call it hardcore survival for no reason.

Idea 1 should be possible though.

Yeah I agree. And it would add value to nametags too, which could add to the economy / obtaining them. There are also auto fishers which can get you them quite easily, so I don't think it would be too big of an issue.
