Weapon Comboing in WarZ

    Hello.
    It's been a few days since my last forum post. This time around, I would like to talk to you all about the use of Weapon Combos on the fabulous WarZ server.

    In my honest opinion, I think it is a tactic that gives players an unfair advantage, and therefore shouldn't be allowed. I'm constantly getting killed by a user who claims to have both Barret/spas for their choice of weapons.
    I propose implementing a system where you can only have a primary weapon (Shotgun, Sniper, Assault rifle/smg) and a secondary (pistols) in your hotbar at a time.

    I feel as though this would make the game better, as well as slightly more difficult. Because lets be honest, I cant be the only one who is tired of being killed by weapon comboers, right?

    I'd prefer this personally, but I'd be surprised if the WarZ community agree with it.

    This would mean instant healing must be removed to. I think canned beans and pasta could be replased with different types of meds. Would work +1

    WarZ IS combo'ing. It's basically the game itself and there's no way that it will be removed. Go practice, start learning how to combo yourself.

    That was awfully closed-minded of you. :'( I actually like the idea because it could open up a new playerbase. We all know warz has a pretty high learning curve right now, due to it's comboing.

    I like the idea myself, but unfortunately I don't think the WarZ community would approve of this idea very much. WarZ has been known for many years for the gun combos, and people have spent a long time practicing to perfect their fighing techniques.
    However if you're looking for a much simpler gamemode that doesn't have gun combos or instant health, feel free to come play Wild West sometime! The gamemode is much simpler to learn and understand. There are potions to drink for healing, and guns are not combo-able!

    Call it close minded, but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to change an entire gamemode. Combo'ing makes WarZ unique, and as Trogs said, people spent a lot of time learning it. Our whole current and active playerbase will drop even more and most people would probably quit as they would have to find new ways to master the gamemode, which might take a lot of time. WarZ is also one of the only gamemodes that actually makes money because of people buying ranks.

    So as a summary, I really don't think that we should mess with one of our most popular gamemodes.

    As a lot of other people have said, this would basically give WarZ the gun system of Wild West, which is something not many people would agree with. Fights on WarZ are basically build off of the ability to combo, and hit your shots accurately. Imo this is something not many people would agree with, and it wouldn't work. That's why WarZ takes a lot of practice, and many players have been playing for a long time.

    I have to dissagree, WarZ is not combo'ing. It is an open world zombie survival server with guns. It was never created with combo'ing as a main part of the game. The new players barely stand a chance to ''good'' people even if they have good guns, they just can't defeat combo'ing enemies.
    Looking at another server, which is very much like WarZ (basicly a rip off) but it doesn't have combo'ing, which makes it for me, and probably many others more enjoyable than WarZ.

    I understand your point of view. But it's gonna take a lot of time to figure out a new noob-friendly WarZ. If combo'ing gets removed, I predict that more than 50% of the current active players will quit, unless something amazing gets developed.

    People who think this haven't tried comboing, it is easy af, and it takes hardly any effort, go to war if you want to have something without much comboing, or even to wildwest if you want. Just stop *****ing about how WarZ has such a "high learning curve" it isn't hard, spend 5 minutes learn how to do it and then practice like 5 minutes and apply it.

    Then suggest a manual in game in chat for players to learn instead of *****ing to have it removed.

    Let's add to the list:
    • I have a bad reaction time, so everyone who has a good reaction time should have to wear lag-inducing goggles, or should always have a server owner mildly messing with their internet.
    • I have bad aim, so everyone's guns should be more inaccurate.
    • I don't have the motivation to run to higher zones, so every place should be zone 6.
    • I hate getting killed by zombies, so let's remove the zombies.
    • I hate getting killed by players, so let's remove PvP.
    • I can't hotkey/scroll to my food consistently, so you shouldn't be allowed to have food in your hotbar.
    These are just a few examples of the wrong solution to a problem. Each of these things shares that they are situations which are not actually an unfair advantage, but only integral parts of a gamemode, much like comboing is to WarZ.

    If you don't like getting killed by combos, get better. It's an overused phrase that I hate typing, but it's the truth. WarZ, while it
    has evolved into something where comboing is a large part of the game. It's not like comboing is a recent development, either. As far as I know, it was used very early on in WarZ's history, albeit not as vigorously. You can't say that War shouldn't have certain maps or strategies it wasn't intended originally to have just because it's not what the first plan was, or (for a more extreme example) that mammals shouldn't have arms or legs because we evolved from fish (probably. Don't start an argument about evolution please.) and fish were never intended to have arms or legs. Things evolve and move from stage to stage, so why try to change it just based on the fact that it wasn't the original intended path? That's an unrealistic attitude to take to things like this, and frankly isn't the right one.

    There's plenty of other solutions to the problem you're referring to, so why go with the most extreme? Test the waters to see what works and what doesn't, then continue from there. If the community doesn't react too negatively, wait a bit and then make another change. If they react negatively, stop. A minority of consistent WarZ players would want combos removed, and that same minority are the players who are the oldest and have the most experience with the game.

    tl;dr part 1: This suggestion is a half-assed solution to a situation that is a problem to a minority of people who matter (excluding one-time players or players who are very inconsistent). Anything that could "fix" this would take time and experimentation and would never be as simple as "remove comboing."

    tl;dr part 2: WarZ wasn't created with the intent of players using comboing for an advantage, but it has evolved into that and it's pointless to try and change where it's gone. Things go where the players want them to go, and so they evolve mostly into what the players want the most.

    I do, but they should be well constructed and they should be coming from the people with the knowledge of the community, and not people who just think they know everything for that particular gammemode because they play other brawl games.

    Well, I'm just going to throw this out there again... Why is there not a WarZ practice server run by Brawl? It cannot be too hard... I think if they make kits on one of the warz servers that got shut down that should work. Then there would be no problems with people not knowing how to combo. I find it a little annoying that people would try to change a game such as this simply because that person played for 2 days and was bad at it. If @_JennyLove you want to learn how to play warz, just ask some1 instead of trying to change the entire server. The warz community doesn't jump on wild west and complain that there is no comboing, or say it needs to be put into it... Comboing is basically the entire point of warz now. To change that, is to shut down the biggest source of income that brawl has. If you are looking for a server with the ideas that you said, and you do not like combos, than play wild west. That is basically what wild west is. Another suggestion I have is to add how to combo in the instructions. These would solve all the problems you have in this thread.
    -side note... If brawl wants new players to stay on warz, at least try giving them a practice server.

    Changing the current state of WarZ (removing combo's, eating limits, etc.), then it would die from lack of players.
    Best case scenario is to create a new server with somewhat balanced mechanics. Although the lack of fun from using combo's wouldn't satisfy a old WarZ player, it wouldn't ever feel the same and get dull for them. A lack of having an advantage over someone isn't satisfying for them.
    @ObamaTheReptile already made some great points here so, great job to him for explaining points.

    Let it be known that I am have been a member of the War and WarZ community for over 2 years. I don't combo because I like to stick to the roots of the game, I fell in love with the game, because there aren't any servers like this anywhere else. (From what I can tell, anyway..) Let me re-word my post:
    Make it harder for players to combo, like make it so they can't instantly heal. Make it so that depending on the type of food you have, it takes x amount of seconds to replenish half a heart. Eg: beans heal 2.5 hearts. Therefore, make it so that a half heart is replenished every 5 seconds until 2.5 hearts are given back to the user.

    Well this is an interesting idea, I still think it would destroy any form of player base warz has, but its still an interesting idea. Again if you want to get better at warz and learn comboing at any point, let me know. I can teach you. Its not hard to learn, neither is the healing system.
