Brawl chat filter sexual orientation discrimination

Question: Why is gay censored?

Sure, gay can be used as an insult, but it's not a swear word. It's a sexual orientation. Besides, lesbian and homosexual aren't censored. What's wrong with being gay, huh Brawl?

 

Shouldn't all insults be censored, then? Autistic, retarded, stupid, dumb, etc... ?

 

Alright, perhaps it'd be a bit overzealous of the filter to block every insult.

However, for "autistic", the same argument for gay can be applied to this.

"Autistic is a word that can be used as something offensive. Of course, it has two meanings. One that is used to hurt people, and the other a personality disorder. Here is the thing though, there is not many instances were you need to let other people know that you are autistic. I mean, I'm sure it happens but most of the time people just use it to offend people.

Usually, my role on censoring is look at the age group. Generally, the forums has a older age group than in game. At least, in build a large bit of the playerbase is under 10. Next, we look at the word. The word that we are looking at is autistic, again. In Minecraft, I come after very few instances were I need to use autistic. Unless, (This is my next part) I want to insult someone.

As SoCool said, people get offended very easily. I don't, coming from McPvP, but other people do. The word 'autistic' is used as an insult more than the other definition (In Minecraft at least). So far we have came to this.

• We are in a kids game.
• Autistic can be used as an insult.
• In Minecraft you don't use autistic a lot in a good way.

What is really the argument here? There is reason why autistic is censored."

Why not add autistic to the list of censored words?
