The map itself is 6k x 6k - I'm not suggesting using this map, but instead using the software to create a map for map 3 (obviously its not going to be done by map 2). Even if a staff member just spent an hour a day working on the map, a map suitably sized for raid could be done by map 3 and it could make the game a lot more interesting.

To get a decent one you have a to pay quite a lot of money (i know a really good person who sells 12k maps for around $168). However, you can get one for about $5 however the whole terrain is randomised and you don't really have much control, this can be done by using a plugin called Epic World Generator, making a decent world painter/world machine map that's 12k would take a few months. To make a decent one also, you'd need to hire one as staff wouldn't be good at this.

If raid is monetised properly, it should be possible for Brawl to get $168 every few months for a new map. I've seen the ideas 0racle has came up with for monetisation and although I don't think they'll get added, they will definitely make this much money. Having a custom map like this would make raid stand out from all the other hardcore, 1.7 PvP servers as well. If we can't have 1.7, something else to make raid a good gamemode should be added.

Would a generated map have caves, ores and all the usual Minecraft structures?

I think that is included, maybe you can set custom ore spawn rates?

There is a mod that has these settings. You can do a lot of things with this actually and it does not add in new blocks, only Terrain Genereration stuffies. I believe that it has cave spawning from the last time I've tried this. Though I'm not completely sure. Also not sure if this'll work for the server. The thought that counts!

I'm not sure. I haven't looked into it too much, but it probably is possible.

Had the same idea a few weeks back actually. It's just that it's very hard to use programs like worldmachine, and it takes ages to learn it. Didn't think of Brawl buying maps though.

    +1 even though I don't play Raid

+1, I like the idea, however as stated above it'd probably be a while before Brawl could do this for Raid.

Meh, it could probably be done by the end of the year. Not sure how hard it is to learn worldmachine but if a staff member can learn how to do it, the maps for Brawl would be so much better. Imagine if Wild West's map was as big as it was but with the quality of the map shown in the video. Or if multiple were made over quite a long time and added into HG.

And, since raid won't ever be 1.7 unfortunately, Brawl needs to do something to make people bother playing. Perhaps by having custom terrain like this, it will make Brawl stand out from the other hardcore PvP servers. I don't know any server which does this, and Brawl needs an advantage like this or else they will never be able to compete with the 1.7 hardcore PvP servers. So yeah, it'd be hard work, but I reckon it'd be worth it.

I know I guy who does some for £5 and they are really nice just you can't control where the terrain is, you can control percentages and ores etc. Though
