    Brainstorming: Player Retention
    So, as the thread title states, we are trying to focus on player retention. Constantly on Party, we see that you often times don’t find the same player multiple times in one week. We are trying to focus on keeping players playing, which also means we need to improve on the gamemode from the point of view of new players. Keep in mind that nothing in this thread is guaranteed, this is just for discussion


    Some of the issues we currently have are:

    • It is not easy to learn how to play the games
      • Many of the games are self explanatory, however, there are certain games that are hard for a new player to learn
    • Lack of competitiveness
      • People just hop on Party to play one or two games, then go to another server. We need to increase competitiveness
    • Lack of purpose to winning games
      • There really aren’t many reasons to want to win Party Games. You get credits to buy items in a shop that does not work too well, and many times doesn’t function properly
    Some of my ideas on fixing this:

    • We have 4 party servers, two for team, two for single player. We use a star based system, and whoever gets the most stars win

    • Have a round system and a player lobby system

    • Have more use for coins
      • More items in shop
    Please comment on what you think about the ideas above, and some ideas that you guys have!

    Addressing the lack of competitiveness / purpose:
    • I would suggest that, due to the Mini-game nature of MinecraftParty, it should be treated as an ongoing constant event. I suggest that Coins / stars are counted each month and then at the end of each month the player with the most coins will be rewarded with a free donator rank (for example)
    I personally believe that the vast majority of the games are simple & self-explanatory.
    This is certainly something we've already discussed as a staff team in great depth!

    Have a points system.

    As well as coins, every time you win a game you get 3 points, every time you come second you get 2, and every time you come 3rd you get 1. Ranking would be shown as a tag next to the player's name.

    It follows this principle:

    If you give people something to work towards they'll be more inclined to participate. We saw it in Creative, it was one of the benefits of ranks: while there were a ridiculous amount of restrictions and the entire system was imperfect, people enjoyed working for WEPro.

    Kits
    I believe that there should be kits for every game, this would make games more interesting. Some games would need to be changed to allow kits but most would just be added to increase the amount of fun people have and a new aspect to each game. For every game, there should be 3 kits, 1 should be free, 2 should cost 500 credits. They should all roughly be balanced however the ones you have to buy with credits could be slightly better.

    Pre-Game
    After every game, there should be 10 seconds where you can vote for a game and 10 seconds where you select a kit. Every time, 3 random games should be selected and the one that gets the most votes gets played. When you want to choose a kit, you need to right click a chest which opens a GUI for the kits, if you left click the kit it will pick you as that kit for just that game, if you double click it, it will be the kit you automatically select every time that game pops up. There would need to be a small waiting lobby with parkour where players can wait which the build team can make.

    Games
    There should be around 40 games rather than 24, this would mean that games are more spaced out and are kept fresh. A whole party game should end after 32 games have been played. https://www.brawl.com/threads/64262/#post-812968 here are some ideas.

    Rewards
    If you win 1 round you get 5 credits, if you come 2nd you get 3, if you come 3rd you get 2, if you come 4th or 5th you get 1 credit. The person that has the most credits at the end of the whole 32 rounds should get 100 credits, 2nd should get 75, 3rd 50, 4th and 5th 25, 6th-10th get 10. At the end of every month, the person who has the most credits should get a month of Elite and 1k credits, 2nd get a month of MVP and 750 credits, 3rd get a month of VIP and 500 credits. The amount of credits you have had in total would be displayed by your name too, saw @Rhoske's suggestion, at certain milestones you should get a free kit etc.

    Team and Solo
    Team would have the same as solo however the games would be different. For some games there should be teams of 3, sometimes the amount of players should be split in half.

    Maps
    One thing that annoys me are the maps, a lot are Mario themed while quite a lot are nice and detailed, i think it'd be better if it were either cartoony or detailed rather than a mix of both.

    So I have just a few suggestions...
    First, we NEED more things to spend coins on. Maybe custom cosmetics for a certain amount of time....? Possibly like a winner cosmetic, if you win you get a winner cosmetic for the next game, then the winner of that game takes the cosmetic and so on. It would give the players motivation to try and win and play. Also with that, we could have a constant banner that advertises cosmetics for the paid ranks which could bring in money for brawl if people are enticed enough. Some more suggestions, new maps, I know there is a build contest going on right now but if we can get a few of those maps on rotation it will cause new curiosity and a reason for players to join and explore... One more, we need more party jmods and mods!! I know when I was a white name, it was always fun playing against mods because I felt REALLY accomplished when/ if I ever beat them. Those are just a few of my suggestions, I'm looking forward to keeping engaged in conversation as this conversation progresses!!

    Is that an issue, a lot of brawl servers need updates. Funny how everyone wants these kinda posts and then start complaining because they think it was copied.

    Most important part. Competition comes with a goal, and there's really no goal for party except for winning (which is fun, but more goals should be made).

    Maybe we could have like a system in wildwest where there are achievements that you can meet. EX, hours of play time, Number of coins accumulated, number of coins spent, games won, just general stuff like that will entice players to play for a long period of time and possibly make them want to come back and play.

    That, and maybe more interesting cosmetics (armor colors, different skinned weapons, other different stuff) you can win and buy, along with a whole bunch of different things that are kept track of, including games won, what games you've won, total play time on all the different games, game stats etc.

    Really like this idea! I think possibly pairing this with my earlier suggestion could definitely increase levels of player retention on Party!

    I'm getting an idea. In party, you get coins. I'm thinking, you could convert the coins into a different currency/items on a different brawl server. ex: coins to ctf credits, so on, obviously all the games don't have currency, but you could have prizes, for example: WarZ, you could get loot, I don't play any other game modes then party, wild west and CTF so I don't have any other ideas. You would only be able to do 3 transactions a day to whatever gamemode.

    Interesting idea, this would require some sort of global currency exchange system sorta thingy that I imagine being quite the pain to code as you'd be passing currencies over from all the different servers. It would also involve introducing currencies to servers that don't currently use them (such as WarZ).

    Possibly, a better way of doing this would be introducing a global server currency. So, for example, let's call them Brawl Coins. So, whatever server you are on, it uses this currency (so e.g. the coins you earn on party are Brawl Coins) and these carry over as your Global Brawl currency (you have the same amount of coins on all servers). Could be an interesting idea if developed further...

    Quite a lot of what I would suggest has been mentioned above - I like the stars idea (3 for win, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd) - It was suggested that the player with the most at the end of each month gets say, a global rank - I think thats a very good way to get players to come, however, instead of top player after a month getting a month of global VIP, its weekly. Every week, the player with the most stars is given a week of global VIP (or another rank) - The reason this is better than a month is it keeps the competition running. Its over a short time so there is everything to play for rather than being on holiday for the first week of the month, and coming back to find you have no chance or catching up, and then not playing for the rest of the month.

    a really long time ago (like 7 months ago I think) I came up with this idea for achievements with some friends. Idk if ya'll are interested, but here.


    Sheep Shear:


    • [Let's use all the colors] Shear at least one sheep of every color.
    • [Head shearer] Win a game of Sheep shear.
    • [Handy with shears] Avoid all -50% sheep for a game.
    • [Sheep shearer] Win 100 games of sheep shear.
    • [Bundles of wool] Get more than 60 points in sheep shear.
    One-in-the-chamber:


    • [Ace sniper] Don't miss any shots in a game.
    • [Sharp shooter] Kill at least 5 people in one game
    • [Lone archer] Be the last player standing in a game.
    • [Master of the quiver] Win 100 games of oitc.
    • [Adaptability] Win first place on both oitc maps.
    Assassin:


    • [Ninja in disguise] Win a game of Assassin.

    Red Alert:

    Smoke Monster:


    • [Lone survivor] Win a game of smoke monster.
    • [Adaptive player] Survive each of the three smoke patterns in a single game.
    • [Both feet on the ground] Win a game of smoke monster by only walking/running. No jumping allowed!
    • [Beast tamer] Win 100 games of smoke monster.
    Chicken Game:

    • [Ultimate paintballer] Win 100 games of paintballer.
    Of course, it needs improvement, but I think it could be a good start.

    This was definitely something I was thinking of. It would really help keep up competitiveness, would keep players coming to Party and playing consistently.
    This would really help a lot. Would increase interest in Party for many people.
    Cosmetics would be really cool. Would help adding more usage for coins, and would really give players a goal to hit with coins.
    Good idea! Setting goals for just general stats, as well as Feathers per-game achievements would be really cool.
    Definitely. I kinda went lowest to highest on this thread (i got lazy don't hurt me). Cosmetics would really help with competitiveness.
    Kits:
    I honestly feel like they don't feel the theme of Party. Also, that would require changing around a lot to fit in, so I don't really think it would work. Interesting idea though!
    Pre-Game:
    I like the idea of a pre-game, but ten seconds is too long. I feel like it could be around a 30 second pre-game where if you have a rank, you could choose a gamemode you would like to play (doesn't break EULA). Good idea!
    Games:
    This would help a lot with keeping variety, and would really spice it up a lot, as Verlyn said. It could use some work, but definitely would be cool.
    Rewards:
    That system already is in place for first, second, and third. Honestly, I'm not a fan of fourth and fifth getting credit. I'm definitely a fan of the event counting at the end of each month, and is something I've brought up before. I think the milestones would work better with achievements, or it could be it's own separate category. Interesting though.
    Team and Solo:
    Honestly, Party's already much of a solo game. Honestly though, with teams, I feel like players would only play teams to play with their friends. /shrug
    Maps:
    Would shy too far away from the Mario Party theme.
    Interesting...
    Yaaas constant events would be amazing to have.
    Honestly, this is a really interesting idea. However, I feel like too much would have to change globally for this to happen, and it would be kind of a wonky system to have global credits imo. Also, credit farming on certain servers would be a huge problem, and I don't really see it going well. Interesting idea though! :smile:

    Another idea I just came up with after seeing all of these suggestions are teams possibly. It would defiantly make this game more competitive. This could also be a good way to get the party community more involved in the forums with team forums posts/threads.
