I almost forgot about grapples

 

With a re-work, yes, I think they would be nice to have back. It seems to be the general consensus that speed grappling was the main issue, so if there was a requirement for how high you have to throw your grapple it might be improved.

Grapples along with the current size of most teams would ruin WarZ. If you think it's dying right now just wait and watch if grapples are re-enabled. Instead of being able to put up a fight if you are by yourself, you'd have people literally coming from all around due to the use of grapples to get behind, above, in front, to the right, and to the left of you.

 

grapples shouldn't be added back. then were removed for a reason and got replaced by ladders.

 

Hmm, interesting. As said above, if we were to even consider adding grapples back to WarZ, we'd have to rework them - most probably with a cooldown between usage. How do people feel about that?

 

ONCE AGAIN. grapples were removed because they were not used correctly. they shouldn't be added back.

 

I suggest that we add back grapples as well as /team. Although the /team plugin would be having no real team limit, but having friendly fire. This would allow people to still play with their friends, but also make it more fair for those who do not have giant teams. Or maybe make the team limit 7 instead of 5.

What does that even mean... The only correct use was to win fights with them... There is no "correct" way to combo or kill someone as long as you kill them without hacking/macroing ect...

 

I believe that both ladders and grapples have their uses. The combination of the two would be extremely interesting and would inspire a lot of new playing styles. However ladders by themselves, as you said, cannot really be compared to grapples.

 

only the "good" players knew how to use grapples to win fights. what about the new players just coming into the game? idek it just seems unfair to the newer/worse players on warz. it's just more of an advantage toward the experienced players. the community voted to remove them, and it should stay that way.

 

Alright, I can understand that a lot actually. So yes, it was the community who voted to remove it, and that is why we are asking the community again if they want to add them back with some changes, same for /team. As for not being fair to new players, that is also extremely true, but unfortunately the entire concept of WarZ is not fair to new players. It takes a long time to be even semi-decent with barb, comboing, aiming with bullets that move at weird speeds, memorizing the map, and even longer to become friends with someone who is willing to team with a white name. Something that me and my friend DannyMcSkid do sometimes is just take random people into our team and occasionally buy them ranks, but it is very hard to teach them without the support of other community members. Every time we start teaching a few, someone on our team or another team comes and kills us all before we are able to teach them anything, simply because they think its funny that we "team with noobs"

 

DavidRoach, a friend of mine got permanently banned for macros when he was just spamming the grapple. I saw him get banned in front of my face

 

How did the rest of us learn? I joined when the community was at its prime in toxicity - ddosing, doxing, flaming - with a peek in players and an all time low in staff. I learned how to play with time and dedication. Sure, you can have some time to teach the player about the map, loot, zones, teams and etc. but the only way they will truly learn warz is to be in a real fight situation. It will take several mistakes and lost fights before the player will actually have what it takes to participate effectively in a real fight.

Now on topic with the thread, I voted yes not because I wish for the old grappling hook back. I certainly want a rework because with the current team size issue, the old grapples simply won't work. Perhaps a cool down or a limitation based on the height of blocks of which the grapple was placed on would work well.

I agree, they were not used as intended. So let's come up with a solution to fix them, and rework them to what they were once intended to do.
