I know that this has been discussed various times, but I want this to at least be discussed.
In my time as a mod/mod+ on minekits, we screenshared regularly. And yes, you might see some file names etc., but you really don't need to go through those honestly. There are tools like Sarefine's SS Tool, Cheatsmasher, or even Last Activity Viewer, that enable you to not have to paw through private files. The best thing is, screensharing is a massively interesting learning experience, and currently too many mods don't know what a ghostclient is, which needs to change by the way.
    Anyways, just my thoughts.

I definitely agree! That would aswell fix the massive X-Ray issues on WarZ tho!
But I don't think this will ever happen. We've tried to obtain the permissions to Screenshare several times already.

This has been discussed by a lot and it is always the same response at the end. Honestly, I've seen some French servers using this system though Skype (they called the presumed hacker and asked him to share his/her screen and go to their downloading page on their browser etc.). I am still a bit skeptical about this protocol due to privacy that could sometimes be abused since you can have private stuff in your computer.

Nonetheless, it remains a very great system against hackers in general.
There are plenty of Anti-Xrays that have been coded and which can be found publicly on Spigot, or other plug-ins that don't counter Xray but help staff members through for example an amount of mined ores within a specified amount of time.

What if, then, we met in the middle? We all want the screenshare policy and putty wants the privacy, so how about if we suspect someone of using a ghost client, we ask for an ss. If they deny, we put them on probation for 2 days where they are able to delete any "hacks" they may have. If they return after those 2 days and are still suspected of hacking, it's a ban. This could be tweaked of course, but it's a good start.

Yeah I'm aware of that but I was talking about Raid but still, there are counter Xrays that can be found.

Lately u're able to rename clients to something else, how are you going to prevent this if this ScreensShare Protocol gets accepted?

That's actually a really good idea.
Although higher staff usually doesn't want to be summoned, I'd like @chickenputty to give us a second thought.

    What do you think Putty?

With which program is there going to be screenshared with? 'cause if it's skype, staff don't want their IP to be seen by the community. Are there any programs where u're not able to get the ip of the other person.
    (I don't know any, that's why I'm asking)

I agree with Putty that this is not something which should be added, it's a real violation of privacy.

Yes. I've had plenty of experience with SS'ing and I can tell you, the file name is not important, it's the contents.
My favorite example for this is hacked Schematica. This gives about .5 blocks additional reach, and is basically Schematica (a legitimate building tool) with about 40-50 extra lines of code that give that bit of reach.

I also think we could have a so-called checksum analyser. This checks the MC client's hash signature against a pre-provided version of a clean client. If the checksums don't match, the user will not be able to connect. OF COURSE it will include versions like LabyMod/5zig/Optifine.

Putty said it's ''Invading of privacy''
    It won't be implemented.

Tbh people using ghost clients is just going to get out of control if we don't add SS or a similar policy. It's already incredibly hard to ban people using ghost clients, and requires way more time than something like a SS would.

What if they are suspected but don't hack, after those 2 days they are still suspected since there are no hacks to remove

Yes please. There's lots of people who could potentially be using a ghost client but its impossible to tell. It'd also let people like @YouAreBestBae not get false banned 250 times.

I'm not aware if the admins have told you otherwise, or if this post will be deleted, but @ritzy and I created and used a SS Protocol.

In my time, X-raying was always a problem on WarZ. You couldn't ban for it. We thought this was a huge problem. So we made a new protocol, confronted Putty and used it.

We found hacked clients everywhere. But, Putty thought this invaded people's privacy, therefore it was shutdown.

I think our protocol should be revised and reinstated.
