I like that Idea tho would make the Discord look way better

 

I'm almost certain people can only give out roles which are below them except if you are admin.

 

Not a bad idea. Although I haven't seen Brawl's Discord team, I have a small experience with Discord in general so in my opinion it would not be a bad idea, great actually.

I will try to have a small research on that and try find out if it is possible or not. I am certainly sure that it is probably possible.

 

Would be very nice if there was such feature implemented.

 

There is a "Manage Roles" permission in discord, and without this, no user can create/edit/delete or even view role permissions. You can make it so only specific roles could manage other roles (you can't edit your own role or any role above you, so don't worry about people giving themselves administrator/higher level perms). As well, you can not give any permissions to lower roles that your highest level role does not already have (granted you have the "Manage Roles" permission). Hypothetical Example: If I was "Mod" rank on brawl discord, and was setting up a "lifetime elite" role, I could not give out the permission "Ban Members", if my mod rank did not have it included in it's permissions. This is confusing but it makes sense if you look at discord.

Right now, the only people that have ranks in discord are staff, and each role has their own set of specific permissions, no one with a "team" or "lifetime" role would be able to change/give out roles unless their specific roles permitted them to do so.

This is hard to explain without directly looking at and explaining roles, permissions, and the interface. Lastly, as almost everyone I have talked to on brawl is inexperienced in discord, feel free to message me if you have any general questions or role/permission specific questions, as I have set up discords for many different purposes like Global PPM Discord(Large ctf community discord with the sole purpose of organizing and playing ppms), and Wild West Global Discord.

Then only include "Manage Roles" permission for Admin and Owner. If smod, mod, jmod do not have "Manage Roles", they can't interact with any roles even if the roles they are editting, are below their specific role. Without this role they can not view the roles tab under server settings in the top left of the interface. Anyone without this role will not be able to edit/look/delete/add any roles. I do not know what specific permissions you have for each staff discord role, but make sure only admins and owner have this permission checked. Also make sure every role you do not want to be able to edit other roles, have this permission unchecked.

Maybe giving a few active staff members (On Discord) a special role that can promote people while still having their staff role? It's not the best solution and certainly wouldn't be the most efficient, but it could work. Having a team of managers to make sure it's running smoothly wouldn't be too bad. If it doesn't work no harm no foul

 

Ah I see. This may not be ideal, but you could put jmod ranks under all team roles and higher staff roles. You could then give jmod perms to manage roles, and have them be able to give out lifetime roles.

As I said this isn't probably ideal, as it changes the order of roles (there are team ranks between mod and jmod), but it is a solution.
