Idea [EVENT] PvP Arena Tournament

Intro​

So I thought in the spirit of March Madness soon coming to a close, we could continue the madness here on Brawl. My idea, and I would love feedback, would be for me, and a select few others to host a PvP bracket style tournament. I believe @TheTrogs tried to get something similar off the ground for Kit Brawl, my apologies if this would interfere with your's. Essentially, participants would pay into a pot, fee to be determined, that would be distributed to the finalists. As you can see in the screenshots below, I have spiced up my PvP Arena. I created four smaller, individual arenas inside the original one, to maximize the efficiency of the event if it were to actually take place.

Pay-In​

For the pay-in to the tournament (to PvP), I think the pay-in should be something manageable for all players. Ex. 5 gold. The price is low because if we get quite a few players, the 5 gold per person adds up.

Equipment​

Equipment for this event would have to be standardized, and "policed" to maintain a fair playing field.
Potential Equipment:
x2 Potion of Strength II
x2 Potion of Speed II
Protection I Iron Armour
Sharpness I Diamond Sword
Half a stack of bowls, and choice of crop for refills
x29 crafted soups

Officiating​

I would be happy to oversee officiating for the tournament However I would need multiple others because optimistically, we would have four matches running at once. This means at the least, I would need 3 others to help me to ensure that the gear is equal between opponents, that no one is breaking the rules, or hacking. Additionally, I would need "enforcers" to make sure no one is fighting outside of their matches, and no trolling would occur.

Bracket Style​

As a tribute to March Madness, as stated earlier I would like to replicate a style of bracket similar to March Madness. 4 matches at a time for the initial rounds, then 1 match at a time in the later rounds. This is obviously dependent on how many participants sign up.

Time and Date​

As of now, I do not have any set date for this event, but I have an idea for the time of day, thanks to the poll thread I made. I believe it has been narrowed down to either 3pm EST, or 8pm EST. (TBD)

Please, tell me what you think of this. Additionally, if you have anything to critique or to add, please mention it. I would like to make this potential event as successful as possible.
Staff​

Staff involvement is not necessary for the event, however there are things that would make my life easier in the event that this actually takes place. 1. Movement of players to the arena, ideally if a higher staff was feeling generous it would be incredibly considerate for them to set a temporary server wide warp at my arena. If not, I can make a temporary team, and have people warp in by joining the team, kicking them once they have been able to warp in. 2. If one or two staff members could be on, to be able to enforce hackers, that would be excellent, if not I can resolve it through /support. 3. World guarding the arena temporarily would be excellent, but I am sure that this might be a stretch, this is where I would need enforcers to keep the non-PvP zones PvP free, and to make sure no greifing or trolling occurs.

 

There are enough players from the Raid community who would participate if it was planned and advertised well. As far as staff involvement goes, it would be ideal to have staff members on to aid in screening players and maintaining orders. However @Carnotauros had a great idea about forcing players to warp in and be screened in before actually entering the arena. Additionally, I could have players pay me an additional fee of 5 gold to receive a "kit" for the tournament which would include what they need for the tournament.

+1 on the hoppers. In the temporary team there could be three warps, screen A screen B and the actual warp. If the player passes the screening promote them from member to manager to warp into the actual arena.

I understand that, I would expect however, that most notable Raid community members would have enough sense to follow the rules. Typically most are sensible people. If Legacy had to take on a role of enforcement, that really only takes 4 people out of the tournament. With the screening system, and the way the arena is built, it would be pretty easy to limit the trolling.

 

That would be incredible, if it works out it would make this event x10 times better.

 

No worries, I can handle the selling and distribution of "kits", if players need them. No need to spend your time on something like this. I have almost enough for 20 players as of now.

 

I understand what you are saying, but regardless you would have to have a player managing the shop to make sure no one is manipulating it.

 

Ok. First off, it is already planned to be a a solo tournament, with the one and done rule. I also mentioned in the thread that I could distribute or sell "kits" to players who do not have the gear. I will be able to monitor and control the hacksuations and fights.

It does not necessarily have to be an official event. I am capable of hosting by myself if need be. It would be nice if it could be deemed official, however.

 

I will just manually distribute the kit to people beforehand, leading up to the event. No need to use something like that. I suppose you can keep the loot if you win the match. I have to think about that though, so not sure yet.
