I'm almost positive right now, if you see a guy on a horse leave a drug base, Sheriffs are allowed to shoot the horse. I found this out about a month ago when someone shot my horse when I wasn't KOS. It freaked me out and I thought it was abuse.

This rule needs to be removed.

You could easily accidentally hit the player instead of the horse, which is abuse.

If someone is running from a rebel base on horse, Sheriffs should't be able to shoot the horse. If I'm missing something obvious, please tell me.

I disagree. Sheriffs are hand-picked to do their jobs. If they do something wrong they abuse. If they shoot the horse it isn't considered abuse but if they miss and shoot the rider then it's abuse.

But the horse is a really small target. Especially when it's moving at 0.5 speed...

That's why we should really care. If the sheriff feels he can't handle it then he could just refrain from doing so. Otherwise, if they believe on themselves and feel being skilled then we can not just strip this from them.

    That's how a sheriff works.

How we pick Sheriffs shouldn't be how accurate they are with shooting guns.

I don't quite get what you're trying to say.

Randomcitizen shouldn't pick Sheriffs on skill. He should (and he does) pick them on maturity, knowledge, etc. Being able to shoot a super fast moving horse isn't needed.

Thank you, I've been saying this for a while now. The other day Eil hit me on 'accident' as he tried to shoot my horse. I told him that he can't do that and his argument was 'I'm only trying to shoot your horse'. This can easily be abused by sheriffs.

No hate to Eil tho, just using him as an example.

Also, I thought this was a meme thread, about the 'Shooting stars' meme.

    I realise that.
It isn't bad to be skilled.

Of course it isn't bad. But as I've said, the Sheriffs have to follow the handbook. Some Sheriffs have little gun skill, they shouldn't have to be blamed for abuse just because they aren't able to follow a part of the book that isn't necessary.

If it gets abused then the sheriff himself should be punished.

No...it's too easy to "abuse" then.

I don't even think it exists as a rule on the handbook.

As I said, if you feel you aren't capable of doing it then don't do it.

I'm pretty sure it does. A un-named player shot my horse on my way out of the rebel base (when I was bandit), and I thought he had abused. He said it was a new rule stated in the handbook.

There is, or used to be a rule that you can shoot horses. And tbh its very easy to say it was an ''accident'', so I think sheriffs shouldn't be able to just shoot horses, as they also cost money.

It just seems like a really dumb thing for Sheriffs to be able to shoot horses when players aren't KOS. I can see it being maybe okay if he runs with an illegal item in his hand, but even that, it's just not needed.

I know the rule that you can shoot horses in order to stop players. The rules goes this way: "If you see a player leaving an illegal area you are able to shoot the horse in order to stop them", I think.

Normal horses don't cost much and the respawnable ones respawn but they cost a lot.

Horses can be 1 shot, and for someone who just started playing it can be very demotivating when your horse dies.

I'm not worried so much about the cost, it's the accidentally hitting the player. If the player doesn't have full diamond armor, he'll die from a repeater shot.

There's a high chance he owns illegal items after leaving illegal zones/areas.

That's why I never shoot newbies. Only when I need to.
