The Issue with the Rogue System

    It basically means that, whenever non-competitive players (often new players) dares to actually PvP and not just sit around at a rebel base afk, the person who shot first will get sheriffs after them and will surely die.

    Take this example. Player1 is a at shrooms base, processing, with his carcano and full leather. Player2 comes along and they fight; Player1 kills Player2, and as a result, Player1 is now rogue. Any sheriff online will now come with their free full diamond and illegal-tier weapons, allowing them to indefinitely cuff or kill Player1. And, even if Player1 miraculously does kill the sheriff, they can come back with their free gear and just attack them again.

    Now, this isn't a huge issue if you're in a competitive team, as sheriffs are a minor inconvenience to your 6 players camping in WG base. However, to a new player, going rogue after winning a fight (potentially the hook that incentivises them to stay and become a regular) will almost always cause them to die. Which basically forces them to mine, which we all know is boring as hell.

    Since we don't have a developer at the moment, and this issue is, in my opinion, one of the biggest that Wild West has, it needs a quick fix which requires minimum dev time. I'm proposing we should remove the rogue system, so casual players aren't doomed to die whenever they win a fight.

    I agree, but it defeats the purpose when a player could just tell the whole server where the person who killed them is.

    This does not happen nearly as often, and its much easier for a player to run away from the base, since they won't be able to be tracked.

    -1 I've actually killed a sheriff with only a carc and no rank starter gear. :wink:

    Also, if they come back just log that's what a lot of people do. (Not me but I suggest it if you just joined) But the thing is that rouge makes people come after you, and personally I love fighting, even if I lose. I see this is for new players but I like people hunting me down. Ik this is for new players but I really like it so -1. I like the point of people and sheriffs hunting me down. It isn't a very big problem either because at the moment there are not many active sheriffs, so -1.

    Too easy. Without being rogue, they can warp to their HQ.

    Saying "just log" is not a good thing to say. You're basicly saying that the game isnt balanced so you should quit the game until they left.

    Frankly, rogue is what makes the game and what defines lots of rules for sheriffs. If removed, new rules would have to be thought up and or changed. As well, without rogue, no one (including sheriffs) would know where anybody is.

    I do though agree with you on how rogue kills off new players. Instead of removing it, I think the max time anyone can be rogue should be changed to 3 minutes instead of 5. As well, it should notify the player that they are able to be tracked and can be cuffed by sheriffs.

    Another idea I had, was if someone tracking a rogue was in 50 blocks of the rogue, there compass would not lead them directly to them, but it would lead them to a radius around the rogue. This would give the rogue the ability to hide instead of having to fight.

    I was thinking of this recently as well, but never came so far to actually make a thread about it. +1000000000!

    You brought up quite a few valid points but:
    1. yes new rules have to be added, but it does not require dev time which is the problem.
    2. not beeing able to find the enemy would mainly be the dominating teams problem, and I see nerfing the top team is a good idea. No matter which team it happens to be.

    Actually I would make the rogue tracker like 50 blocks. I see this removing some of the disadvantages of doing this.

    This would bring back the old system of wild west, someone could go hunting and find a team of 4 noobs full D and simply go and kill them with 5 sheriffs online, then they would just simply HQ and store.

    Removing the rogue feature would make the game a lot easier for bandits and harder and trickier for sheriffs.
    Do any of you have an idea to counter this? ^^^

    How would sheriffs be able to do their jobs, or how will we be able to find our killers?
    @Chilled_67 has a good idea without needing to remove the rogue feature.

    It is just that it is impossible to hide from anyone who are skilled enough to click f3 and a at the same time :V

    It would need to be a longer time due to them being untrackable. The good thing is, they maybe still in the area, that is if they haven't fled on a horse.
    Not really. You'd need good eyes to see through that flickering.

    but you see, the core idea here is to make it so we cant see rogues when we camp at wg base right? This think chilled proposed has nothing to do with it. It is more like the opposite.

    Why log? People enjoy playing the game. Progress at the game by logging out of the game? No thanks.
    Provide a combat tagging system where if you shot first, you can't HQ for X minutes. The server can detect who shot first, so it should be able to determine it this way too.
