But it has the best chance to be seeing as I don't think any servers are moneymakers right now.

War and WarZ are our best money making gamemodes right now due to the rank system that's still EULA breaking. Until we end that and move onto cosmetics it's best to use it to our advantage. I think Purest and I are the only 2 who have bought Party boosters. xD

I mean, what's the point about arguing over an SS protocol, when Putty already made his mind up? I believe almost every single argument has been brought up to him, but he won't change his mind. Like tbh it would solve a lot of issues, but it's like you're shouting ideas at a closed door. Not much will get through :/

If putty's mind's made up over the SS protocol he might as well shut down WarZ right now, seeing as if this continues much longer nobody will play. If he actually wants WarZ to stay up (which is doubtful at the moment, as it's clear now that the higher ups no longer care for it), he needs to add it in.

How do you wish we advertise the servers?

Planetminecraft, an active media team recording videos for the server instead of top 10 videos that have only been occurring a couple times a year (interesting title and thumbnail, that way it'll get people to click on it if it shows up in their recommended videos).

When the server first came out, how did you guys advertise? Obviously it worked because of the amount of people that used to play it

Mcpvp, the biggest network at the time had an owner that was friends with Chaploo and advertised brawl

I remember seeing the ad for war on mcpvps homepage and tried it out, weird how things are all connected

Pay youtubers to make videos on the servers, buy spots on minecraft server lists/minecraft foums, etc.

Good intentions with the thread, but nothing in this thread really presents new information (except promoting Sn4x5 - +1) that has been discussed before.

Toxicity - Contrary to the popular belief, this is not why people quit. Look at games such as league,cs:go,dota 2, and other esport games. They are a flame fest, and are thriving right now. People don't quit because they get upset by chat messages. While it is nice to have a pleasant community, this is mostly insignificant IMO.

Screensharing - My biggest issue with screensharing isn't even the privacy aspect. They are:
    • The guilty until you prove yourself innocent attitude. Players should not be proving themselves innocent. If you're not sure if a player is hacking, you don't ban them right? But where do you draw the line as to who gets screenshared? Do I get to pick random players? Anyone that gets reported?
    • Time consuming. Most casual players have better things to be doing than being frozen and having to go through the whole procedure of screensharing. Personally, I would quit the server rather than deal with whatever bureaucratic procedures I have to go through if I am not very dedicated to the server
    • Children. Not everyone that plays brawl is fortunate enough their own computer. Parents are likely not going to consent to having random people look through files. Does the child get banned for this?
    • Hacks installed ≠ Hacking. Players could be using cheats for servers other than brawl (regardless of rules on those servers). I'm pretty sure I personally have xray in my .minecraft, that shouldn't get me banned if I don't use it on brawl.
    • Preventable. There are methods to hide the whole last modified part and get around the process if you're technically capable.
Instead, the main problem to fixing WarZ (which is what I assume you were thinking about when talking about screensharing) would be to implement a blanket VPN ban. I see lots of banned hackers who cheat using VPN's. To deal with the very small minority that actually plays on VPN's for reasons such as not to get hit off, they may get whitelisted individually.

    -

Advertising - way easier said than done.

Brawl did try all that. We have threads up for some of the new servers and it hasn't significantly appeared to increase the player base. We did post media videos, and it doesn't work as well as you wish. Also, media videos mostly target current players, who don't need to be targeted. It is very cost ineffective to spend money from my point of view on actual advertising for the server (prices are in the thousands of dollars often, and the ROI is minimal).

The most effective type of advertising is word of month. People simply told their friends and got them to get on brawl, or watched a genuine youtube video of people playing the games.

Yeah, I knew I was forgetting something when I posted this thread, that was the VPN ban. Striker made a thread about this and apparently @Signatured and @Mario support this from what he's told me. VPN's do little to nothing protecting you from DDoS, all it does is allow you to alt. when you're permanently banned.

Now, your points on screen sharing.
    • The fact of the matter is, this isn't like real life. You can't just assume everybody is innocent because then your server would die out. You NEED to be cautious, and the reason it's important for WarZ is because screensharing is the only way to prove somebody is X-Raying. It's not necessary for other clients because most of those can be seen just watching the player in ./poof. As to who you screenshare, I feel it would be best to screen share players that only the staff members who PLAY WarZ think are suspicious. For example, if a staff member in a fight feels somebody on the other team might be X-Raying, they would have the right to screen share them. Picking random players would be more or less effective but unprofessional in my eyes.
    • If somebody being screenshared is on a tight schedule, it could be as easy as just recording your screen while talking with the staff member and then uploading it within a time limit. If you can't record, take a screenshot of everything without leaving the server.
    • If a player is able to download hacked clients and run them on Minecraft servers I feel like they're parents wouldn't mind somebody checking their screens. Also, what harm would it cause? It's not as if the staff member is able to control your computer, all it is is viewing your screen, not even looking at anything personal.
    • This is why the screen sharing would occur without the player leaving the server. If the player is caught using a hacked client while on the server while he's screen sharing, he would be banned. If he wasn't hacking but he has it installed, he's not banned.
    • Read my above statement. Also, there's very little people on Brawl who would go to these lengths to hide their hacked client for a 30 playerbase server. If screen sharing doesn't catch everybody, that's fine, as it will catch most of the community who X-Rays.
Also, I don't think I said that toxicity is the reason people quit. What I said was toxicity shouldn't stop the staff team from hosting events, or giving up on the server altogether which is what seems to be happening.

I'd go for the YouTubers who have around 100k-300k subscribers, because most Minecraft YouTubers who have 1 million+ won't play a server just because of money, as they make enough already. I know for a fact Sky will only play a server if he actually enjoys it, so if you ask him to play Party again with the new updates I wouldn't be surprised if he'd go for it. I feel like he's the only exception as he's one of the only big YouTubers who has actually played this server.

I don't have any names at the moment that you could pay other than that, I'll try and find some more.

My biggest suggestion would not be to pay someone, but instead to focus on getting Brawl's youtube more popular. It's a big name and people would be able to instead follow that. Another option would be to endorse other youtubers who already play Brawl. I know Graff uses youtube. Maybe post some of his videos on Brawl. There may be others who are up-and-coming youtubers. I figure we probably cannot afford to just buy a youtuber, but we can raise one if that makes sense.

I feel as if Brawl utilizes the stuff they already have, it would actually kind of work out. As of right now, there are the top 10 plays right? How bout in a 2 week, or a month span, the communities could try to record plays for a community montage. Stuff like that would surely attract some attention. War could probably come out with some really good clips to put together, and having faith in our media team to edit. I know there aren't many montages on Kit as of right now, maybe different players could record different clips for a montage there. On CTF there could be a Capture montage, kill streak montage. xD Overall, if we were to put a bit more effort and use what we have, we could possibly come out with a lot of stuff. Also, keep in mind that Brawl's youtube channel has somewhat of a lot of subscribers. That's already a start, instead of doing the same repetitive stuff with the 10 top plays, innovate towards new projects that would attract new players.

Sadly, none of this information is helpful. We know that we already need to advertise and you even said that 7 times in your thread. The root of the issue is how and where to advertise. We've already learned that paying YouTubers is the only feasible option. Purchasing 3rd party ads and voting site spots do not drive players, and that is a fact. We have been experimenting purchasing voting spots and Google ads already.

Some of the things you are saying are so off course, its hard to continue discussing. Such as, "I feel like he's the only exception as he's one of the only big YouTubers who has actually played this server." SkyDoesMinecraft's channel has died, so much to the point that he gets 50-90k views on average. Not only this, but many popular YouTubers have played Brawl and its probably why we're still existent today.

    Some of them:
Vertez has 94 episodes (and counting) on Party: here
    Preston on War: here
    SSundee on War: here
    LDShadowLady on Party: here
    Chad on Party: here
    etc.
