To add to Raid's "hardcore" aspect, my suggestion is to display the Coordinates of player deaths. Fairly simple, and it would not be that unfair, as most players die at spawn, PvPing, or mining and falling in lava. However, for those rare occurrences it would be fun to "run" down players and find something valuable. It also makes it more risky when making vaults under lava in nether, or in the sky, because if you die, your coordinates are compromised. Finally, it would give an option to players who don't know how to track to potentially get raids. The message could display as "Player DnaMooshroom has died at X: -154 Z: 3467. The height would not be disclosed to offer some difficulty and at least finding where the player died, and giving them some time to gather themselves and attempt to defend themselves.

+1 - it would even increase fighting because you could see where the other guy at spawn is (specifically).

Yes, especially during KOTH's, or events. Raid is in desperate in need of something to boost ease of PvP. Half the time when I see death messages, I can't track down the player to engage them in PvP. They end up kiting and banking the loot. Raid needs to get back to the dies of 10 man fights.

Could also be implemented on servers like Wild West, and WarZ I suppose. Just a thought.

It would be pointless on WarZ, seeing as there are plenty of landmarks on the map and are very distinguishable, not sure about WildWest though.

Very true, that's why it was just a thought. WarZ also has the compass feature, and Wild West has the rogue tracking option, respectively.

I really like the concept of the idea. But I think it could hurt backfire. I believe one main reason of your idea is to increase the chances of new players or not regulars to get raids and it sounds good because they could even stand a chance of raiding one of the big 2 (Vanta/Legacy). However, we have to take into consideration the fact that new players or the ones in process of becoming part of the player base are most likely to die in their base or on an important warp. Implementing this feature may even increase the gap between regulars and non-regulars.

Nevertheless, as I said, the concept sounds great and I would love if this idea is added but with a small change. Maybe decreasing the death coordinates range to 1k blocks outside spawn. Therefore, big teams and experienced players wouldn't be able to exploit this feature. And as Doges said it could increase fights at spawn and bring more pvp action as we were used to.

What you said about the range of the feature would be nice, but one concern you brought up was to prevent big teams from exploiting new players. I would just keep in mind that most players don't even get past 1k when they go out for the first time. Nonetheless it is a solid idea. However something like a 24 hour grace period where they are exempt from the death messages would be more suitable, in my opinion.

I've been thinking about reducing it to 512blocks (since everything built inside that area is going to get deleted each week) plus it also covers the Koth section so death messages will be shown while one is being contested.

The 24hrs grace period sounds good, considering that most of the new players don't spend more than 2 hrs a day. Furthermore, maybe 1 entire day of gameplay could be enough for a player to understand how the game mode and this feature works.

The reduction of the range is not bad, but I think the "grace period" is still the best option. As you said, 24 hours in-game gives the player plenty time to get the basics, and hopefully a little gear. So, if they do die, they might stand some sort of chance. This also as said earlier, gives new players a major advantage over veterans. Even for if a relatively short time frame.

Good idea but the death messages actually need to be fixed first. Half of the time you can't even see them in the action bar, I would suggest making it come up in chat and you should be able to see the death messages of the people you kill.

There is a way to toggle where you see death messages with a command, I can't think of it off the top of my head. I used it a while back to change it to chat, then haven't used it since.

/dlocation chat (Or /dloc for short)
How'd you get all the way up there...

I do like this idea, and it would certainly add to the hardcore aspect. Joke killing in bases would now have major consequences.

I was doing math homework while I was typing this and was thinking of X and Y planes. Must of subconsciously entered my thoughts regarding death messages. I like the consequences you mentioned regarding team killing, screwing around etc. Nonetheless, Fixed.

I think this would only be a good idea for pvp at spawn. Beyond that, I think it would just be an annoyance and mostly only affect the people who are unaware of it. If you die and reveal valuable coords you have plenty of time to move the loot. If it's an xp grinder or whatever, it just makes the warp useless and doesn't benefit anyone.

To counter the "unawareness" you speak of, a message can be set to be broadcast such as "Reminder: coordinates of deaths will be shown in chat, be careful!". This would do well at letting players know they need to be careful. Honestly, depending on the warp you definitely won't have time to get everything. Then the player would have to defend to remove the rest of the loot. If you manage to die at an AFK grinder/XP grinder, shame on you xD. They should be more careful.

    /dfilter ALL then /dloc CHAT

On topic of the idea I agree with @hockeyxxxxxxxkid and @Speedcell. Would be an annoyance and perhaps backfire in way for newer players. I would prefer this idea be implemented only within 512 blocks tbh. Which would help with PvP but if it were within 512 blocks only it would probably get annoying to some. I just see more bad than good coming from the idea. Good intentions but I think it's a bad way to resolve the issue. I'd hate to accidentally die and reveal coords to a skybase or something of value and then have to go through the trouble of moving it, could even cause some to quit. Just my take on it, doesn't mean it's a bad idea.

If you think about it though, you could die on purpose and make people go to a trap and then kill them there or something. I like the idea because it will make it more hardcore.
