FIRST!!! (again)

By the way I have yet to be asked any questions about my thoughts on the world, which feel free to do so. I'd like to think that anything religious so far hasn't been a flame war and I'll pride myself on keeping it that way.

Discussing this stuff shouldn't be a taboo (even though this is just a dying Minecraft forum) as long as we keep it civil it's a good way to challenge our beliefs.

Also it's genuinely an interesting debate. There isn't enough of those on this forum, they're too often locked as 'flame wars'.

Anyways, I will do my best to provide a Catholic perspective on this.

I was only replying to the proofs for God being put forth (and to the claim of Atheism being a religion).

And again, I am a rational skeptic who has come to the conclusion of agnostic atheism. Specifically, this means I hold nothing I believe to be true as beyond question and think about why I believe what I believe. I don't make claims about knowing whether or not a god in some capacity exists, and I worship no deities and indeed don't concern myself with them beyond thought experiments and challenges to my rational skepticism.

Feel free to ask questions.

In my mind believing in God IS logical. Perspective means a lot in this situation. For instance, when I look outside I see beautifully green trees, bright clear sky, etc... However, someone else might see a plant only green because of the Chloroplast, only alive because of photosynthesis. I suppose the question is can you disprove God? Most people answer no. Not because there is no evidence for God's existence, but because you have to look with an open mind, with a bit of skepticism mixed in. I find that many people have trouble doing this.

Obviously the plant is green because of the Chloroplast, however, the idea is to look past the obvious.

 

i can disprove god (christianity) based on using scientific evidence to render much of the bible inaccurate, but that would require someone willing to actually change the views without saying "but muh religion sayz X and so dat meanz jesus is real!!!"
