Agreed that it would've been better over TS. Debating through text is also too slow

My dad is pretty sure he had an angel help him before.
It was way back when he was in elementary school. During recess, he tripped, fell, and hit his head on a rock on the ground. He very likely suffered a concussion, as he felt disoriented throughout the day.
When school let out, he went outside and the sun was extremely bright to him. Possibly due to his concussion. He couldn't see to get to his dad's car.
Suddenly, this kid who had only been attending the school for a little while approached my dad and asked if he could help. He asked what color the car is. He didn't ask the make and model. My dad told him the color and walked him to my grandfather's car. The first car he approached was my grandfather's car.
A few days after the event, the kid mysteriously disappeared. My dad never heard from him again.

I'm serious. The kid was gone. He never attended the school ever again.

i just posted "i disagree" as a meme, i did decide to ditch this debate on the forums but i might as well answer this /shrug

depends what you mean by evil. certain bad traits like greed and selfishness I think we are born with because they're necessary for survival, or they were, but other traits like racism, sexism, I think these are things we are taught. hbu?

also pretty ridiculous to claim that angels think your dad was worth helping cause he hit his head and had a possible concussion, yet there are billions of people who are starving and living in war-torn countries who don't get help

dammit im getting sucked back in by the stupidity

Being good seems to not come naturally. We have to teach kids to be good. I've seen toddlers hit their parents when they get mad. Did they learn that, or did it come naturally?
Also, what are the odds of a randomly picked, everyday man being capable of rape and/or murder, if given the chance?

Again, you can't be blaming God for the problems in poor countries. Is it a post-colonial effect? Is it a brutal dictatorship? Is it a violent culture? These are human problems.

Well again, it depends what you mean by "good". I think humans are generally violent in nature, but only to an extent.

I think that in certain situations, all men are capable of rape and/or murder. If anyone says "I would never ever ever do that", they're probably wrong. But that's just hypothetical. Most men, in most situations, wouldn't rape or murder. Is that what you were asking?

And whether or not we blame God for problems in third-world countries comes back to free will; is God to blame for making us the way we are? Anyway, that's a whole other thing.

My question is just why would an angel see all this death and suffering going on and say "nope, screw that, gotta go help this kid who fell over walk to his dad's car"?

Assuming you're taking about morals, I think humans are't born good or evil. I think that not only is there no objective evil or objective good, but also the idea that humans are born with moral siding is also a bit wrong to me.
Of course, genetics can play a role, making people more likely to act a certain way, or to have certain values, but I think that overall, morally, humans aren't built a certain way.
All of it is genetics, which vary form person to person, and teaching, which also varies from person to person.

What kind of situations would compel you or I to rape someone?
Anyway, if you had a girlfriend and she was sitting next to you alone and she fell asleep, would you touch her inappropriately, even though you two aren't at that level of the relationship? I certainly wouldn't, because I know Someone is watching.

God may have made us and gave us free will, but He also gave us specific rules to follow. If we don't follow them, then that's on us, not Him.
Again, God works in mysterious ways. "AAAAAAHH!!! GEHENNA, YOU'RE DUMB!!!" Yeah, I know.
Who's to say God doesn't send an angel to assist most everyone? The Bible says there's a good chance we have entertained an angel at least once in our life. Maybe there are angels who assist in wars or help feed the poor.

What would you say about Sigmund Freud believing humans to be evil?

I don't know how reliable Listverse is, but here you go. http://listverse.com/2013/05/23/10-reasons-humans-are-naturally-evil/

again saying "Yeah, I know." bc you don't have a true argument over it (bigotry)

the angel thing is somewhat believable though. what you say about angels assisting in wars is weird; why would an angel assist in slaughtering other humans? isn't that assisting in sin?
also, if angels help feed the poor, why are there so many people in poverty nowadays? i'd guess god just didn't make enough angels or something? lol

*quotes something with 3 ideas from the list being directly related to evolution*

but all humans are naturally evil. i do agree with the idea of sin and how all humans do it; all humans are naturally going to **** up a lot. but i don't think premature sex is a sin, that's just me. and i don't believe in god or believe that sinning will get you in hell because i don't believe in hell either.

    i don't even call it a sin, i just call it a f*ck-up.

    this

i dont call bull**** on a lot of things, but bull**** (at least the part about you not calling bull**** on a lot of things)
