I know mcbuild used to have /give so what happened to it? I don't see anything wrong that it'd be removed for.

I don't remember build ever having it but I would assume it's because /give can be used to give other people items. That's just the very nature of the command. I think /i would be more suitable.

Would that really matter though? This is a creative build server so you can get the items anyway.

You shouldn't be able to just give people stuff. /give can be used to give other players items that you listed. (ex. Player1 does /give Player2 Dirt 64 - Player2 received 64 dirt from Player1) This could be spammed and just cause a general annoyance.
That's why I'm saying if something like /give is ever introduced it should be like /i; where it only gives the player executing the command items. (ex. Player1 does /i Dirt 64 - Player1 receives 64 dirt).

    True,

Anyways, implementing one of these would be good for giving players blocks that are not in the creative inventory (like barriers) but I really don't see a problem with the current way of going about getting them (using World Edit).

The reason I want /give is to get custom heads and custom effects on potions and weapons. I have no interest in trying to give others items.

no no, there's a custom head generator that gives you the heads that actually stay as they are instead of changing when you change your skin.

I don't think Build ever had /give, but I know Creative did.

As far as I know, I don't know of a custom head generator that does not change heads when a player changes their skin.

I was talking about on Build.

Freshcoal uses command blocks, something normal players can't access.

mcbuild did in fact have /give before. I still have some potions and a sword with custom enchants on to prove it

Sorry for reviving, but couldn't /give just be restricted to only being able to give yourself items?

I personally think it's a waste of time to do this since you can do /head and use W/E for getting things like barrier blocks, but it would still be useful for enchants and whatnot.

Also I haven't heard of /i. I assume it just gives you whatever item you want? This would be a better command.

This command can be EASILY abusable. Think about if a player was just spamming an item, and they kept dropping on the floor once the players inventory was full? I was just be a general nuisance under the lag category.

On a lot of maps, item drops just disappear immediately, so there is a way to stop lag from them.
