    Thread's title says it xD

    Anyways, there have been a couple times where we have a conversation going on in the shoutbox, and that you sometimes get a reply. But there have been times where someone supposedly gets a reply, but (s)he doesn't know that, because they may have forgotten about it or don't realize that they got a tag. I don't know if this been brought up before, and if it has, sorry for repeating it. Anyways, I thought tagging and getting notifications for it in shoutbox could be a handy addition. What about you guys? What do you guys think?

    In my opinion, if it is a serious or worth being discussion it should be discussed in a thread or a private conversation.
    On the other hand it might be useful for short conversations so I will go with -/+0.

    but there might be a discussion that's too random for pm or profile post, but you still want to know an answer. If you do that in shoutbox, it can be off-topic yet useful. You can have a conversation with more than one person without having to open up a full pm. Shoutbox is for off-topic stuff that you can't make a full thread about.

    You can make a thread in off-topic.

    I can see people being annoyed and just spamming tags. Also if you want a conversation, make a pm or talk on a thread. -1

    but sometimes a topic is literally too small to make a full thread out of. If you just do it in shoutbox, you won't have to make a full thread about something that's almost nonexistent.

    These forums are for the network. If you have a separate conversation, make a pm or talk in off-topic. I also don't understand why you would talk in the shout out box when there are things like discord which are much easier to use. We don't need this at all. You still don't understand how easily this could be abused.

    The only difference would be that you get a notification if someone tags you. And yes, it can be abused just like everything. But then you can report the people abusing it, right?

    In the shout out box every message you add is a new message. On threads it just gets edited into the past one. This would mean more work for roke and his moderators when you can easily have conversations else where. Not needed at all.

    no, I mean if someone types something in shoutbox, then there will probs be someone else who types a message in there before you can reply to the first person. By the time someone put in something else, the topic will have changed and you can't leave a reaction to that first person, and it's a bit random to put up a pm or profile post for something small.

    If it's small it simply shouldn't be on the forums. If you want a small conversation discord is perfect. You can also literally make a small conversation is pms on here if you really need to. It's called 'Conversations' for a reason. The shout outbox is hardly active, people could easily spam tags in there without someone posting. The shout out box is a shout out box not a small conversation box.

    I get what you mean, and I agree that it shouldn't be used as a little conversation box, but since a lot of people (even staff members) use shoutbox for a small 'thread-ish' type thing. I know that's not what it's there for, but it's how a LOT of people use it. Including me, admittedly.

    Ok if that is happening ok at the moment then you don't need to be able to notify people in it.
