    Hey Brawl community
Itsh me Franshish Wizz here again. As we all know, we have a bot for people that are hacking and cheating. BrawlBot. This is quite useful, as people get banned for hacking all the time.

Besides hacking, there's another problem with online gaming. That problem is, flaming. People will swear to bully, flame or just draw attention. Of course, dropping a bomb every now and then shouldn't be a problem, it's what we teens do xD. But people cyberbullying each other, death threats and stuff like that, this has to stop.

I've come up with a potential solution. Say hello to FlameBot! Let me give some examples of what FlameBot would do:

-FlameBot would detect harsh swearwords, or anything that's one or two letters off. It would keep track of how much someone swears, and how frequent. Like how many per minute. And I mean strong swearwords.

-If a player swears more than five-ten times a minute (not words like Ass or Moron, but really offensive swear words) they would get a warning. The player would get two warnings max. After two warnings, they would get muted for five minutes. The next mutes they get after that would be ten minutes each. Because it's only fair to warn the players instead of immediately muting them.

-FlameBot would keep track of how many times a certain player has been muted. The mods would then be able to check how many (FlameBot) mutes a player has, (something like /Flamebot (player name) or something idk yet) so they can decide if a player keeps abusing and swearing.

-FlameBot would be able to read pm's, because a lot of cyberbullying happens through /msg or /pm.

Just to make things clear, I don't want to make Brawl a strict and polite society or anything, but reducing the amount of cyberbullying would be nice imo. I know we already have mods and /support and /chatreport and all that, but a lot of the time all this flaming happens when there's no staff online. The goal of this FlameBot addition is not to 'replace' Jmods, but to help them out if/when they need assistance. Like I said, FlameBot wouldn't be too strict, just the really harsh words like mf, rtrd the 'c' word or other diseases and 'ckcsckr' etc. would get detected. I hope this idea could contribute enough, and hope to hear back soon

Nope, just warn players who are abusively swearing and there's no staff online. If there's a jmod online, he/she can also personally warn the players swearing. FlameBot's purpose is to fill in for JMod if there's not one on that server. And FlameBot only would detect the harsh swear words. A JMod can judge if the less harsh words are harsh. But some words just shouldn't be used, and that's what FlameBot detects.

Then there's virtually no point in this. The only reason this should be added is if chat needs to be moderated better. The only thing currently that is bad about how chat is moderated is that it's far too strict and punishments are inconsistent.

    -1.

Unless a chat bot is really well made, it can't tell any context between words that are offensive, and those just used in context (ex: **** you for killing me vs oh **** I died with guns - choice 1 is offensive unlike choice 2). The only solution then is just a blanket swear ban, which already exists with /censor. There are also more ways to insult people than you think (besides swears), which would mean that players could still get around this. Given the current tools (/chatreport,/censor,/report, etc) I think that the coding time needed to make a good bot that actually increases chat quality is too high for the minor benefits that will be gained from this.

It's already hard enough to detect hacking with brawlbot, where the instances are pretty cut and dry (ex - is the user flying? yes->ban no-> no ban), so I don't foresee this being successful (unless a coder pours tons of time into this)

Fair point, but it's not like FlameBot would be able to do this. Any Jmods or other staff online can tell the difference between offensive and OK, but FlameBot just keeps track of how many hefty swear words there are. If a player says 'F you for killing me, it's no problem. FlameBot only jumps into action if you say words like that more than five times a minute. FlameBot doesn't immediately punish you.

This is what staff are here for.

We only have BrawlBot because hackers are impossible to ignore if no staff are online to ban them, but you can quite easily ignore flame and report them for the player to be punished later.

The only option I see that is **semi** reasonable with this is automatically sending chatreports when certain words / combinations of words are said
